This is how bad it is in DD… they gave EVERYONE 10 million of the in-game currency. You would think, “hey that’s pretty cool!” right? WRONG.
All the item drops are random (you can get level 60 items drop on normal difficulty when you are level 10 
) , all the stats are random and not only that (and this is the worse offender) the number of upgrade points is random. So you can do a challenge run for your best weapon and get the perfect weapon stat wise but with 20 upgrade slots, or you can get the shittiest stats ever but have it have 250 upgrade points (so it can be upgraded that many times). Getting the weapon with the 200+ upgrade points is better but then you start upgrading it which leads to the next problem… getting a weapon to +25 already costs 4 million. Getting it maxed out probably takes a few hundred million and making money in that game is REALLY fucking slow unless you get lucky and manage to find a good item for trade (like a weapon with 200+ slots to trade for another). As a result I didn’t even bother hunting for good gear as the random is way beyond my accepted threshold.
I’ve never actually played the game so I can’t make any judgments on it. But I’m sure the characters themselves turned a lot of people away, whether out of ego or people just not liking them.
Yep, sounds like Diablo 3. Drops are usually either missing an important stat, are missing a socket, have low DPS, or just plain suck all around. Now this wouldn’t be so bad if getting a good or even decent drop was more common, but that isn’t the case. You also can’t invest in stats when you’re leveling, making the game even more item-based than its predecessors. To add to this, the best stuff is horribly horribly expensive on the AH (or costs real money), and making gold is a chore.
I’m going to stick with the game, though probably less so over time until patches/the inevitable expansion sharpens up the rough edges. Diablo 2 wasn’t what it is now right out of the box.

Also at FDM we had an AH3 scene. OH GOD.
A lot of folks in my scene and the surrounding scenes stopped playing SG when 30 second long combos and the truly dominating assists became the norm.
Arcana Heart scene had everything going against it considering it had no retail presence, was PS3 exclusive and had visual themes that were bound to turn off a majority of the FGC. Plus a lot of folks have a hard time paying $30 for a digital item. Didn’t PSN go down for a while just after it came out, too?
BlazBlue scene died in my area because of Continuum Shift. While the two new characters Hazama and Tsubaki had some fans, there were just as many who didn’t care for them and saw many of the changes in the existing characters and mechanics as nothing to throw a fanfare for. I was one of those in the latter group. On top of that, the $8 per character for the more interesting roster additions like Makoto and Valkenhayn just felt like a slap in the face. Now that BBCSEX is out, I am a bit interested in getting back into it, but we have so many other games out now and on the way (especially GGAC+ and P4U, which will likely reduce BB’s scene even further) it’s hard to convince myself to put the money down on it.

Never played 1. Randomly saw 2 at a Boomers (where it’s 3 tokens for $1 lol) and was hooked. Then it disappeared. Heard the console port was ass, so I passed. I have 3. I had an easier time with gun loli’s combos in 2 than I do in 3.
This was the main reason I stopped playing. The game was supposed to let you pick a team of 2 or 3 characters or play solo, and the game would set a handicap to balance it out. Unfortunately, the only character I want to play is Valentine but the way the game is (was?) there’s almost no chance of being able to win solo. I can understand not being completely balanced but when the overall view is that you NEED an assist and Valentine isnt one of the two characters who can do okay by herself that killed the game for me
