I got this game on a friend’s recommendation thinking it was yet another Free to Play/Pay to Win Korean TPS. And I was right. It is one. But it’s actually surprisingly fun for a game in that vein. The art direction seems heavily influenced by TF2 but with toys (reminds me of the Bedroom/Toyfort custom maps in that game). Each weapon is satisfying to use, and the general chaos of each match doesn’t get too out of hand. The voice acting and music are hilariously corny, but that makes it more likeable. And though you level up and unlock weapons CoD style, it’s not too grindy (yet).
Besides, the Succubus character looks like Midnight Blissed Lord Raptor, and how could I say no to that.
The only problem is that the UI is a clustered mess, but once you get used to it it’s not TOO bad. I recommend the game, though Your Mileage May Vary.
Now all I need to do is free up some HD space do I can re-download Tribes for Steam, get GGPO working at this house, and I’m set.
Fun Fact: This game is known as H.A.V.E. Online in Asia and is infamous for ripping some frames of animation from the Meet the Team videos for its own promo material. Other than that and the vaguely-similar art direction, it’s nothing like TF2.
