UMvC3 List of C. Viper Changes

Thanks for all this info Chrisis! Great reads so far.

My question would be what character(s) did you see that got notable nerfs or buffs? Im not talking about little ticky tack stuff like a slight damage/health reduction blah blah blah, but certain things that will REALLY help/hurt characters in the up coming version.

The one character Q I had was Chris, did you get much time to play with him at all? I heard that his landmine is faster now which in theory seems like a considerable buff for his playstyle.

EDIT: I am also glad that you are safe and sound, car crashes are serious business man those things are basically weapons.

When I watched the UMvC3 trailer the only character that really stood out for me out of the new batch was Firebrand. I remember watching his little 20 second montage or whatever and at the end I was like WTF… what didn’t they give this guy?

She better keep her projectile move exclusively to the VS marvel series. She was *just fine being one of the few Street Fighter characters with no projectile moves and now they’ve fucked her essence up by giving her one special that doesn’t even look like it belongs to her. I can foresee scrubs spamming her optic blast. Capcom bye.

On that same note, could you talk about the new X-Factor and TAC. I understand Xfactor got weaker, and TAC is a re-actable thing now.

I also dont really know how I feel about the whole hit stun scaling changes… how do you feel about them Chrisis?

Im pretty sure the hitstun thing is a universal system change, all the characters seem to have been hit by it. It’s probably a good thing overall.

Niitsuma told us a bunch of various things about characters and some of the things we were told sounded like ridiculously over the top buffs. Here are some of the more interesting things.

Notable things:

Chris: Although I didn’t get to do it much he got a super major buff in the fact that you can now cancel his gun normals like 2C, 6B, and air C into specials. Unsure if you can cancel flame thrower as well.

Zero: All of his specials can be cancelled into release level 3 buster, thus you can cut command dashes short, follow up ryuenjin etc.

Magneto: His new special according to Marlinpie.

Ironman: Can air dash cancel air normals.

Spider-man: Can cancel web moves into other web moves IE web ball into web zip.

Magneto overall is better. Even though they debuffed his midscreen combos. There is no way his slower dash hurts him. I can just see it being easier to get out an air.L off a tri-dash.

Good buff to Ironman. I felt like he should have had this in the first game.

Spiderman will be much more fun now. And of course more annoying.

Did you see Iron Man’s new airdash? I’ve heard all kinds of stuff about it, but what people are saying is kinda all over the place.

Oh yeh thats tom australia’s best player, he used to play ammy and she hulk but switched to team tokido/team scrub, he also took out nerdjosh i think.

pretty sure i heard the panel say that Iron Man is losing his double jump but they’re letting him dash cancel air normals to offset it.

ironmans tri jumps is pretty bad now, i think its like sentinels fly mode, starts off slow but picks up speed. Magneto’s new move is godlike, throw some drones or cold star and pull your opponent into the assist and get a free mixup.

Vipers optic blast causes a soft knockdown i believe. andd its red :> Dj divine and I kept missing our seismo after abc. I had to slow down my input in order to get it to work. May have been the t.v, the positioning of the stick(im 5’5" stick was a little high to my liking :<) or some other changes but the important thing is her bnb still works.

Back from evo and recovering for Evola. alot of the stuff has already been said but some cool stuff that i found while playing ultimate is:

TK x EX TK still works its timing just got adjusted. It might be a link im not sure, but im pretty sure its still cancelable but i couldn’t cancel into EX TK as fast as i do in vanilla. The only thing i have to contribute for viper lol.

Anyway, since i play viper/mags/ammy. i have some info for them as well. HSD is different because i couldn’t connect ammy’s cold star after seismo in the same bnb i use in vanilla. They just recovered in the air before their body falls on the cold star.

Also, Ammy can change weapons in the air now, so i had fun experimenting with that. mostly simple stuff like doing reflector bnb and ending with J.S, change to sword, df.H, qcf S, super. I can’t wait to get in the lab with it. It also stops your momentum in the air if you change weapons.

As for mags, I am kind of bummed out that his air dash got slower. Maybe i’m not used to it but his air dash was unbearably slow and i didn’t even want to play him anymore :(. But his new move is very cool with ammy’s cold star assist which was the only thing that kept me playing him cuz pulling people into ammys cold star was soooo satisfying! haha.

I played alot of strider too but i was terrible with him so i didn’t get to do much except teleport around people and die. I want to say he has less HP than zero but ultimate’s dmg (or hud illusion) i can’t really read accurately. But still a very scary character because of oroboros and his mixup ability. Oh and oroboros doesn’t chip :(.

I played alot of good hawkeyes, i played alot of people who were grinding him out. I saw a Triple Arrow, Poison Arrow, and an arrow my friend said was unblockable. His vertical arrow assist is good. I didn’t see anyone do anything cool with it but it was incredibly annoying to fight against. I played alot of hawkeyes who would try to hit a poison arrow and try to snap your point character out while to force you to bring that character back in. If you can poison arrow and snap back in the same combo, it’ll be very very annoying. :expressionless:

Didn’t see any ghost riders O.O!!!

Firebrand was annoying. he does so much shit! But i didn’t see anyone do anything that wasn’t in his combo trailer or come across anything unique. but hes annoying.

I was supposed to have video of some viper/mags/ammy play. but my cousin never filmed it for me -.-!
Overall. ultimate was fun to play. mostly because i loved seeing my opponents reaction to viper using that laser. it was funny.

Anyway, thats all i have. sorry for wall of text, i talk alot when its 4am and im tired.

What about TK Feint on hit?

Ignoring the question of whether the move is useful or not, what exactly was Capcom thinking when they added the optic blast to her?!?!?

So it causes a soft knockdown and doesn’t look like it has follow up potential. Was hoping it had similar applications to Zero’s buster shot but it’s just another zoning tool.

Also, shout outs to meeting Chrisis in person at Evo. It was good seeing you man and nice to collaborate to try to figure out Viper’s new move. lol

well its a full screen projectile, which viper needed in the form of an assist in vanilla. I’d say its useful
