Well, it seems we pretty much agree. On the ones we disagree:
Firebrand: Has options out the wazoo but no damage. What’s more, I don’t see the capabilities in his moveset to really increase that damage by much. Reminds of morrigan, solid tools, shit damage.
Nova: Pretty much the opposite. I put him with Ghost and Vergil because he has some really wonky stuff that I think could be amazing.
His tools in courtroom mode with any of the pieces of evidence look stupid good, Maya seems really strong, and he has a full screen low assist among other things.
I didn’t see anything I would call stupid good. He reminds me of Tsubaki from BB CS1. She’s decent with charge (similar to evidence) but the other characters are decent or better right out of the gate.
Oh wow I didn’t even realize that… So, when Marlinpie/Viper players do Vipers crazy seismo lockdown they pretty much have to either pushblock correctly or just take it? Cause you can’t airdash out of it now. Viper didn’t get nerfed too, be afraid…be very afraid. (/Doesnt’ even play Viper on a decent level yet)
Edit; nvm im sounding stoopid, theres always pushblocking lol. I thought for a second the opponent just had to take it. Regardless itll make her better
Like, I can understand leaving her the same, but buffing?
Well, I guess it is better to have the god tier being someone as hard to play as Viper than Wolverine, but still, even being a Viper player that doesn’t make any sense, it’s like Capcom’s tier list is based around how many players of those characters they’ve seem.
I agree. If they slowed down all 8 way tri-dashes and made it where you can’t block during them… some people may say no problem I’m attacking on a dash anyway, but in reality that hurts viper anyway you put it. Maybe Seismo FADC will be more prominent in the new version because of this, but then again the trade off is Viper will have more ground control against anyone who needs air mobility to get in. There has to be a reason they gave her a new move and made TK cancels easier. Obviously they made TK cancels easier because they don’t necessarily do much outside of combos. The awesome block stun that comes with a TK cancel is usually advance guarded before you can do anything since there is some recovery by viper as well. I hope the Optic Beam will be a good anti-air with enough push-back so no one can punish on block. My only hope is there will be more than a snowball’s chance in hell for the Zero vs Viper matchup since Zero seems to have got nothing but buffs. (Soft knockdown on lvl 3 buster IMO is a better trade off than a hard knockdown for very quick mix-up reasons on recovery)
Viper got some buffs to herself but as stated earlier the game mechanics changed, Less meter gain, Cant block during air dash, assists cause hit stun deterioration, all of this can hurt vipers game.
[LIST]
[]Not being able to block while airdashing = seismo zoning crapton better
[]Viper can’t block during most of her airdash right now anyways, and if you’re triangle dashing into overhead j.L/H/S, I think you get something like 4 frames where you can block anyways (just an estimation, I really don’t know).
[]No DHC glitch = Viper damage actually really means something now and makes her awesome by comparison.
[]Viper doesn’t need meter, in fact, she’s a battery. Meter basically just gives her more options/escape options, which means you just have to play more carefully. However, it does not take a big toll on her metagame at all.

I honestly believe that the gameplay changes have overall made viper a much better character.
The main nerf I worry about is the meter gain, I feel everything else just means that matchups that were less in her favor will be more in her favor. I spent a long time figuring out what I needed to do to get an exact amount of meter in a combo. >.<
I agree viper doesn’t really need meter to finish her combos, her combos can start with less than1 bar and still finish with burst time(Well mine i mean) but it is nice to have her stocked up on 2 or more just so you have that DHC option if needed when you need to kill off a character. Also EX.TK is my best friend. I Never use EX seismo, though I should really start getting into that habit.
I have a theory about viper, I think it would be very reasonable to assume that her minimum combo rate got nerfed in Ultimate. This seems to be something they’ve done to alot of characters, and lets be honest, her minimum in Vanilla was stupid broken.
