Maybe because Marvel online sucks? The lack of people who don’t want to play sucky online isn’t exactly a sign of a dying game.

I was sort-of agreeing up until “cool combos”. Good players aren’t necessarily people who always perform cool combos. Cool combos wouldn’t save this game if it was dying (and it’s not, at least not yet).
Also, what the heck is “friendly style” supposed to mean?
I see where you are coming from. Cool combos are not necessary but I recon it add more flavor. For example when you watch one of Marlin Pie’s matches and he comes up with brand new TAC combos, it makes the crowd hyped up. I personally don’t think that UMvC3 has lost its touch. However I still want to reach Cosmic and to do so I have to play lame people who can not take defeat.
Marvel is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way from dying. Its the second most popular game at majors losing to SF4 by like 20 or 30 entrants. In some cases it is the most popular game. Marvel is exciting, fast paced, and has freaking super heroes and pretty colors. Nobody is gonna stop playing this game offline.
ONLINE however, sucks dick. Stop playing that. Its hard to be a good player with that. Lag in Marvel can really fuck shit up.
None of this is going to “save” Marvel. Not unless these can actually be proven to be viable enough not just to be used in competition, but to actually make folks using those characters place and even win tournaments.
How exactly is combo vids gonna help? I think the game is getting stale because it’s too combo-focused. Almost every match just look like a combo video.

I think if anything marvel needs less combos and free set ups and more neutral game 
TOD vortexes is what makes the game suck. Having a tense neutral game into a sweet conversion is where the hype is really at. Styling on me only gets me hype the first time.
Also marvel is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from dead. It’s still the most popular game with SF4. Online should never matter, marvel’s online is fucking unplayable. It’s dead on there because it’s like that, not because people don’t like the game. If you’re seeing the same stuff online…that’s probably because styling online or using hard characters is not worth fighting the lag…picking Wesker, Hulk, or any character where more buttons = more wins will win you online, not fancy combos.
If you want to see a really flashy player doing some awesome stuff in match, check out the vid of Garrett vs Fchamp. Garrett runs spiderman / strange / rocket raccoon. He drops a bit, probably bc of nerves vs Fchamp, but his play is like an extended combo video.
Also, Fruitpunch for some awesome Deadpool stuff. He doesn’t have many good matches on youtube though.

We five people that just starting playing casual daily on xbox360 (we aint that good though. don’t know how to juggle)
and this game seems pretty alive to me. only thing i dislike is people that go S+H+S+H+S+H+S+H With vergil. i will definitely watch some of these videos thanks.
The funny part is if they replaced “cheap & spam” with Dark Vergil it’d be a legitimate reason not to play.

I have such a hard time finding tournaments, Im at school in Albany NY so the city is too far, thats the only thing that seems dead to me. Online, theres always new matches to watch esp thanks to Broken Tier
