UMvC3 General Discussion: You can't control it

I guess Wesker broke the machine that keeps Jill brainwashed with rhino charge and she rolled out because she broke free of his control

Why not just use L2 for :l: and press R2+X for XF? Thats what I do when I use my easy mode team Vergil/RR/Dante

I can’t get used to L2 for a normal and surprisingly i’m kind of dexterous holding my controller in an awkward way with my fingers to use roundtrip mid-combo (Not any of the advanced ones mind you) though three button XF could make me switch.
Give me like a week straight of using L2 then maybe i’ll get it.

I don’t think you need a One-Button Hyper, you can easily press Triangle + Circle at the same time after the motion. And for X-Factor, like I said before, you only need three buttons L+M+H. Do it at the same time with the X button and you’ll get the X-Factor. That will grant you an X-Factor Button that also works as One-Button Hyper with the correct motion.

If you intend to run a character that requires holding, you must set your R2 or L2 for L. There’s no clever escape to that.

No, you can still use Square to start your combos. Just don’t forget to charge when you confirm the hit.

Out of curiosity, who does everyone think have the best set of supers in the game? I’d go with Phoenix, who is followed by Sentinel.

Hard to say since every super has it’s uses and it depends on whats going on in the match. Like Dark Phoenix is insanely good but you still have to get 5 bars.

Here’s a question: Why did Capcom nerf Phoenix overall when Dark Phoenix is the real problem?

I think phoenix’s are quite bad, Dark Phoenix excluded of course. So many characters have a generic energy projection that isnt so unsafe to use. Life steal is pretty good, but the point is, if here only super was DP, she would be 95% as good as she is now.

imma say Storm, Sent, and Dante have the best in the sense that each super adds a new option to their game plan. Sent especially. Take away one super and his game would be dramaticly different.

in other news: am i the only one who thinks hawkeye is over rated right now? he’s a lackluster anchor, playable on point WITH a good zoning assist, and average DHC partner (gimlet does low damage and is unsafe from close range, breath of fire does low damage).

other low damage characters make up for it in mixup potential (storm, ammy, firebrand) but he has nothing like that, only chip damage which isnt that great with half the cast having a tracking teleport.

Well… I guess it’s because in order to go to Dark Phoenix you have to be Phoenix first. The nerfs they made essentially made Phoenix a really worthless character regardless of just having the advantage of going to Dark Phoenix.

Also, Phoenix objective is to be broken, so I don’t see them nerfing Dark Phoenix.

Phoenix Rage is amazing, it’s just that you can’t really use it without being Dark Phoenix. It’s a fast, invincible, high damage fullscreen hyper. What else do you want?

Healing Field is good too.

And then we have Dark Phoenix.

I did not mean that use L2 in my combos, I meant having L2 AS a normal feels awkward to me, like pressing L2 in the middle of the combo and holding it down is awkward. But other people are doing it so I guess i’ll need more upon more hours in the lab.

YEAH WELL…THERE SHOULD BE

but im saying without those supers, she would still be very good. unlike sent, unlike dante, unlike storm

phoenix rage is so amazing, im sometimes tempted to use it instead of dark phoenix. great chip, great damage, great coverage and cool looking.
healing field while cool in theory isn’t the most useful thing on the block. and dark phoenix transformation is more like an earned x-factor than a super.
her without healing field, still good, her without phoenix rage as a super and without dark Phoenix would be to crappy a character.

storm has next best
sentinels are well rounded
dorm’s stalking flare is amazing and he easily has one of the most amazing horizontal supers.
ameratsus are cool.
strange’s vishanti is great (in my opinion it beats gimlet) but 7 rings is a lot worse than i’d thought it’d be.

in marvel yes, but my finger have actually gotten used to holding with juri. i just can’t use a combo with all 3 fireballs comfortably, which is so occasional it really isn’t worth thinking about

Hey guys, when this lobby is over do you want me to upload the stream footage to youtube?

How? Rings is invincible and using it pretty much counters a good portion of the casts random supers or anything. Unless you mean the time for the counter to register is small since I do see that sometimes.

people saying healing field isn’t useful

because living through combos with phoenix is just so garbage.

If you want, I actually like seeing your casual friday Morrigan. ( I actually do mean seeing her fight lol)

I havent played SSFIV in so long. I miss Juri:(

It’s also -38 on block so chip dmg isnt that good. I think anyone with a teleport can block that and then punish from full screen. Although it might be safe if you TK it but still you’re wasting a meter just for chip. Healing field is good but only if you use it during a combo. If she gets hit, lots of people can still dmg her by using moves that hit her while not being close to her (like how Dante’s Million Dollars pushes her away) and speaking of Dante, there are some players who can just combo her until it wears off. Even if she doesnt lose health until his hyper combo, he still probably gained enough meter to DHC or XFC into another MD. They’re not bad supers at all, but like I said they’re situational just like most of the other supers in this.

I have a feeling most dont like her tho lol those walls of fireballs and lots of overheads must be annoying

if shes hit with a combo that does more than 750, shes not really surviving. and thats if shes at full health when it was used.

counter register time, along with actual start up.
a few of the times i’ve needed it i’ve been blocked.
i was expecting ā€œnigga don’t throw projectiles at meā€, instead i got ā€œhey don’t randomly projectile super the guy who has an auto tracking pillar that hits EVEN if im hit out of it.ā€

to be honest i haven’t played ordinary phoenix enough to give a fair judgment about phoenix rage.
im mainly speaking on a counter hyper, i wouldn’t say move around the screen for a bit casually and then launch one randomly. But more when the enemy is invested in an action against me.

then again i think people sleep on a lot of phoenix things. hell even her srk input move are WAY more useful then people suspect.
