Any idea why Shiro didn’t just combo into Ultra off the elbow in 3:00? Seemed like if he did that, the match wouldn’t have been so close at the end.
He could do ultra and still lose the match

Anyway I think he’s probably saving the ultra for a better time(maybe for a KO iono)… oh wait i think i got it, having the ultra meter will limit daigo’s fireball game, if he did ultra right there and then, sure he’d get the damage but daigo wouldnt have to worry about his ultra anymore. that ultra meter was used as a pressure tool by shiro. one of the many strategies for abel…
I think its really hard or not possible to connect in the corner.
Not any character, some chars have FA’s with shitty range and are useless unless used in point blank, thus making it harder to apply it in their wake up meaty FA game.
Shiro took high risk there, and got the reward. 
He does that all the time. In fact, this is probably the reason he couldn’t pull off cross-up tatsu against Justin Wong @ Evo. He’s become a bit predictable with it.
I’m kind of surprised he ate that focus. He could have backdashed it no matter what level it was.
Yeah, he could have backdashed and used ultra to waste the rest of the clock. I’m pretty sure he figured Shiro would cancel the FA, and then I guess his backdash is punishable by HP CoD? Shiro had 2 meters to cancel and would have ended the round with it. I guess it was just a pretty complicated 50/50, where Shiro backdashing beats uppercut, throw, and backdash, and Shiro throwing out lvl 3 FA loses to all those, but beats blocking. My interpretation, anyway.
Yeah, I’d love to hear what Daigo says after the other matches. Hopefully someone can translate.
i have a feeling that daigo was expecting shiro to dash cancel that fa and throw him again so he was thinking of teching that throw.

I like Daigo vs Nuki matches the most. Shiro took a risk with the focus and was rewarded with the win, but narrowly.
