I was just joking. Played doyoudigworms a bunch yesterday and was abusing demonflip throw. He needed help so I suggested a few of the things you mentioned but wanted to cross check my limited Q knowledge
Yeah thanks for the Q feedback guys. NoMoreFunland has some really sick set-ups and just when I get used to the flip I get a raging demon in the face. Haha. Aku your knowledge is so strong man. You single handedly kept this Q thread alive by making sure no Q is left without an optionā¦even if there is none!
Maybe it was already common knowledge but i just found a really easy way to get the instant dash after SA1.
Q on the left side: start your charge (left) after the low hit, go to neutral after the last hit for around 15 frames then continue to charge (right!) around 10 frames and you can now activate the dash punch whenever you want.
Reeeaaaaally easy, no tricky charge side change needed.
I did not know this. Iām going to try this tonight!

Ah, the good ole days.
Okay, scrubby questions. Iāve always been tempted to main Q but I have two problems:
I donāt like charge characters. Or at least characters where their main game is based on charge moves. Yeah, Alex has two charge moves but Iāll put it likes this; Iām not spending a majority of my time charging and hoping I can land EX Shoulder or Stomp. I can do One delayed LP Charge punch followed by another one after a HK grab though.
I donāt like slow and clunky characters and Q could be the very definition of this. I like fast normals and a fast dash.
So, Iām trying to get better at landing his Kara but my big problem is getting rushed down. Particularly by the Twins, Ken, Akuma, and to an extent Makoto. Also, I kindaā suck at parrying. Sometimes Iām in the zone and sometimes Iām not.
And yes I watched a couple of tutorial vids over the years and Renicās Q primer ignited a little spark. I have a good idea on how to use Q but those match ups really fuck me up.
Q relies a lot on kara throw and parrying.
Get those taunts in so you can afford to try and parry and punish.
Getting rushed down as Q is hairy but if your backās to the corner itās more manageable as he canāt be crossed-up there. Depends who youāre fighting against but sometimes you just have to sit tight and not press anything, especially if your opponent is baiting throw whiffs or crouch techs from you as theyāre so easy to punish with fat damage. Better to eat some throws here and there than something a lot more damaging. Also if youāre getting rushed-down hard and are having big problems controlling space then I recommend SA2. Practice parry xx instant SA2 because sometimes thatās what it takes to turn a match around. If your opponent is jumping around like an asshole then you can Dash Punch under and away from them for free. If theyāre staying grounded it can be much tricksier, just use Q as an opportunity to work on defense, reacting to overheads and dash-ins and stuff. Heās a bag of shit so good luck.
Great thread, great tipsā¦thanks!
b+mp is what i use and it works well considering you are pressing back to begin with
