I don’t know, could be. I haven’t played Q seriously (or 3S for that matter) for some time now. Anyone wanna test it out?
Edit: regular throw definitely can’t work, the hurricane kick pushes you too far away, and i seem to recall that a full-ranged karathrow takes at least 5 frames. Someone should test it out, though.
any tips on c&db overhead dash punch, dash punch? usually when i do an overhead punch i roll the stick up, and im struggling with going from charging to the overhead, back to charging.
The only thing you need to do for an overhead dash punch is to hold the button down. Whoever told you about going to up-forward done steered you wrong.
i apologize, all this time i thought you had to do the diagonal, and i had never realized that i was just holding down punch. i feel really dumb right now… but thanks guys.
Well, I updated it for the first time in about half a year. I changed up and added to many of the matchups, reorganized things a little, and took out some unnecessary stuff. Still got a couple matchups to do, but don’t expect anything on that front anytime soon.
hmm, i would appreciate some advice against Hugo, i think his pokes are better than Qs and he can counter tick c&db with 360. Also, taunting is not that safe because of rh lariat.
Stay outside his throw range. Yours has greater reach. Don’t go for tick-throws when you’re too close.
Taunt when you have a safe opportunity (generally), and just play your game. Don’t focus on them.
I think they often will distract you from the fight and you will lose perspective. Basically, you’re playing a character with no offense, and when you boost your defense and go on the defensive, it’s like an invitation to the opponent to come and do his best, and you won’t have an easy time breaking out of it as Q. But you could’ve had this in mind and wanted just that, I dunno :wgrin:
Take your taunts! Hugo has a slow walking speed and you will need them for when he catches up to you.
For Hugo I find C.MP to be nice AA. Hugos jumping HP and HK smash anything else including slaps, B+MP and anything Q has in the air. As for taunts I normally do a standing HK to push Hugo away and then taunt assuming Hugo doesn’t have the EX meter to come and clothes line me.
Hugo players are also big fans of emtpy jumping into 360 grab. Watch your oppinite and see if he tries this. If he does, setup a CnDB trap for him. I’ve nailed a lot of guys who just land on my grab.
Also, learn the EX dash punch bug for Hugo. I’ve gotten to the point where I can actually land these in play (not just practice mode). For people that don’t know what I’m talking about, Hugo’s fat ass as a strange way of sticking to Q on a EX (most of the time). You can actually land a second EX punch in the other direction and then hit off the bounce. I guess you could actually keep going with this as long as you had meter, but it gets expensive real fast. There is a video on youtube that shows this. I’m at work, I’ll post it later if needed.
Another random Hugo thing…
I really like greeting wake-ups with a B+HK canceled into low slaps. Don’t do this to Hugo. I don’t know how many times I’ve been 360’d from this. I just back off and give him a standing HK or wait for him to fuck up.
Get away. As a general rule I just don’t let him get that close. If you are close he will try to grab you; this is how 95% of Hugo players work. Just back dash when ever you find your self in this situation.
