Sagat has a really good mix up game on characters wakeup ie. throw,TU,OS Backdash,Overhead,Block. When switching to offense i try to take every bit of damage i can get to keep the other player guessing or running for their life. And Elena is gay
Ima upload a Balrog match I had. The match seems the same. The balrog I played was just spamming TAP but for the most part nothing has changed in the matchup but I know from maining balrog in this version if Boxer gets close with meter it can be scary for Sagat.
I played against a Poison but again the match up didnāt seem to hard I just didnāt adjust fast enough with the 2 rounds. But Iāve been taking her to the Lab to break her down

Standing fierce seems like a pretty good button against Hugo to me. Works at that range where his MP beats out the standing roundhouse.
so Juri⦠ummm what to do? she seems like a problemā¦
and I cannot think of one single reason to ever use double ultra with Sagat. The ONLY benefit to ultra 1 is damage (ultra 2 has more combo opportunities, easy to hit all the time off of FADC backdash, and with the weirdness to the ultra 1 juggle now⦠even more of a reason to go with the reliable ultra 2). If you pick double ultra you lose damage to both ultras, damage being THE ONLY thing better about ultra 1, rendering double ultra 100% useless.
Yea might even just as well use Cannon for Hugo/Gief/Hawk since they jump and focus a lot to try to get in so you have lots of chances to land U2. They shouldnāt even be getting close enough for you to use Destruction hopefully.

Ok besides block and crouch tech, how do you deal with Ryuās solar plexus punch on block? the one where he hits you in the gut and it punches twice. I mean, best case scenario you crouch tech and its back to 50 - 50ā¦worst case scenario you get thrown or if the guy knows what he is doing then shenanigansā¦random dp while crouch teching etc.
is the move really that good or am i missing something?
your thoughts please.
Delay crouch tech, or failing that backdash.
red focus that shit nigga
Half an hour in the training room and the only thing I can find so far. Seems Sagats U2 can get full hits from an EX anti air uppercut like Ultra 1. I tried it on Rufus and Ryu only but Iām assuming it will on most characters. Nets you about 400 damage.
Itās slightly harder to land but still do-able. Another bad mark against U1.
Red focus Cancel - cannot find one set up thatās worth the extra bar you canāt do with 2 bars. If the red focus could reach out further it would open up a host of possibilities. 100% useless. I was really hoping for something from low step kick.

High, I was fighting a friend of mine who plays a very orthodox ryu and I found that the damage on ultra 1 was the difference. I mean, I mean, fireballs are such a high risk thing that i just fake and bait until i get that opportunity and either ex tu to u1 or TU FADC Ultra 1. Did get wonky falling out from the ultra on a couple of backdash ultra attempts after an FADC, but at least the damage is decent. Ultra 2 juggle damage is utter crap!

What do you guys do on Bison matchup? I seriously have so much trouble figuring out what to do. I am a big noob in SF⦠But the dictator, i just canāt do it for some reason!
Bipson is tricky. The main things I would say are to not give up on zoning. He can be zoned up to a point. Low shots are probably your beast weapon against his kick. And his jump is very floaty so is easy to AA. If he keeps Devils Reversing jump back HP is excellente and if heās stomping, backdash will give you a free punish.

Okay, gonna try with that backdash on stomp, because this is what gets me usually. I always just block it, so I feel like a sitting duck to this. Thanks for the tip
I had a set with a poison player. Ima upload the vids. I canāt say if the match up is bad due to mistakes but I think he can beat her.
I need to do some testing on the matchup. Any thoughts on decapre.
Dictator is fine. Youāre probably just letting him pressure you for free. Low shots to push him back, st.mk to stuff his own approach , free pressure on wake up with meaty cr.lk (he does anything you block in tme for punish), for the head stomp you want to push cr.mk as he goes up into the air, then Sagat will move across the screen underneath on the other side of him for a full punish. If he hits you with the first part of stomp cl.mp takes him out the air or step kick if heās further away. Neutral jump or back jump fierce takes any stomp out of the air if heās using it to get in from across the scree. Upper cut everything. Also neutral jump Mk can be useful on a scissor or slide read. Clean 5-5 match.
So far on a very basic level this is how Iāve been dealing with the new characters
Decapre - Turtle minimal shots, just react to her , her moves donāt offer great frame advantage and her mix ups are average.
Rolento - Rush down , wake up game is shit, fairly easy to AA, donāt get caught pushing buttons when heās on offence.
Poison - Sagat beats her either way, zoning is fine in this match , her DP is ass and trades all the time.
Elena - Rush down, seems like the worst character out of all of them, buttons are mediocre, only seems to have high/low mix up.
Hugo - obvious
Donāt really rate any of them, they seem more annoying than anything else. Decapre could be decent once developed.
highlandfireball, yea pretty much how iāve been dealing with the new guys, rolento seemās to be the craftiest one outta the newbies has a lot of getoutta free jail cards with that that rolling shet he duz, kara dp or kara knee seemās to shut that but iād say to use them sparingly as once they get read on what ur doing they can easily bait them out
Rolentoās only invincible move is his wall dive, and that can still often be punished on the way down. Use meaties to stop things like roll on wake up.
The most difficult part of playing Rolento is dealing with his hop back roll. It can punish fireballs but more importantly if he uses light follow up it doesnāt hit but it does put him at stand jab range where he had the advantage.
If he does the wall bounce (EX) all you have to do is st.hk. It will catch him out the air at the peak, if he falls short you recover in time. Itās a much safer and easier option than dp and easy to react to.
For rolls you can just pepper Rolento with low shots, his rolls donāt have that much invinciblilty and heāll keep getting hit out if he trys to roll through. He only getās tricky once he getās into slide range but a blocked slide is punishable also. Iāve noticed that while his AA with the stick is not bad, itās not very damaging and it sometimes loses if you time your jump in different so I think heās quite susceptible to jump ins as far as the ones Iāve played.
