Ultra changes (location test)

For my Claw brethren

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_acKdnztxeo&feature=youtu.be

this is crazy O.O

In SSF4.ae i’ve tried it against Guile on counter hit and cst.mk would come out although of course it was blocked. So in usf4 it must work on Guile standing

what about jumping in? usually jumping in means you’re closer to the opponent then doing it while standing next to them

Really? I’ll have to check that later. I was just testing it by pressing up against them.

Yeah I was also doing it starting with jump in hp

I’m a PC player. I’m not getting Ultra for awhile. How is new Vega?

I find myself really hard-pressed to remember to use Vega’s buffs because they don’t factor into my usual gameplan much. His crossup is okay but doesn’t come up that much for me, especially with delay wakeup now. I need to remember to try to walk up crossup instead of walkup throw mixup sometimes. close s.MK is super-good but I only find myself in the range to use that after a successful jumpin, and for combos/punishes, muscle memory makes me go for close s.HP or c.MK. Red Focus is awesome but I find myself never having the meter for it because I was already hitconfirming with EX FBA a lot. Only comes up when I was losing or winning strictly with footsies and no combos. I’ll probably find myself doing a lot better when I remember that this stuff exists and I should use it.

Except the roll charge time buff, it’s really nice to be able to use that in matches sometimes for corner pushing. And his new c.HP.

I’m really surprised, but impressed, at how effective it is at dealing with far-away jumps, and have to wonder if they fixed the hitbox at all. It pretty effectively beats most things clean from a distance, and trades a lot at midrange, which is still a victory for me as long as I still have life lead and they’re not pressuring me. Mostly loses up close and you still need to reaction air to air from that spot.

The buffed cr.hp is good because apparently they didn’t alter the hurtbox on active frame 3 and 4. Which means that it’s most effective if performed a bit earlier than what feels intuitive.

Well, a bit late but here is Capcoms whitewa… er, “presentation” of Vegas changes.

Don’t get me wrong, I kind of like our new stuff, and Vega has certainly taken a step forward. Problem is, most characters who already were ahead of him have taken a step forward aswell.

The reason for my annoyance is because I have watched all of the “balance” change videos now, and on SEVERAL characters I see the following: “Players complained that the combos were difficult to do, so we’ve made it easier”, “Players complained that they had little options when being pressured, so we’ve improved that” and (my favourite) “Players comlplained that Attack X would whiff on certain characters, so we’ve fixed the hitboxes”.

Great. We begged for all those things, could we atleast get one? At least adjust EX fba so it doesn’t miss on crouchers/in the corner. It’s not even a buff, it’s obviously fixing an obvious error, much like Rufus EX messiah flying over crouchers (which got adjusted).

The reason vega combos are harder is because of the range at which cr.lp and cr.mp hit. At one point I thought a chain cancellable cr.lp would have been the best thing for Claw but thinking about it more, it would be a touch too powerful.

Can I get some pics or evidence demonstrating this? I’m very interested in knowing more, maybe pic of active frame 3/4. So did they basically slap a hitbox on two recovery frames of the c.HP, and that happens to be really good priority?

If that’s the case, his combos should be easier when he loses claw. “Balance”

lol, +5 but only with claw off would have been hilarious

I lost my shit when Peter just teabags over the mask lol.

I really don’t see the logic behind this reasoning. How would better hitstun of cr.lp be too powerful?

We’re not adding something new, like better range, better hitbox, more damage, etc. The expert/tournament players who use Vega do the cr.lp-cr.lp link consistently, so they already “have” this buff. So when have you seen their usage of it beeing “too powerful”? When has it broken the game and not allowed other characters a fair chance? Never.

All this buff would do is make it easier for intermediate/online players to successfully complete a combo without risking (or with less risk) of eating a srk-u1 or final atomic buster just after you worked really hard to get in and open the opponent up.

Also, I didn’t specifically mention cr.lp. But thinking about it, MOST (if not all) of Vegas combos are really difficult to do consistently. Take the ex rcf-cr.mp link. I personally think that ex rcf is one of the most difficult special moves to connect. Either you have to hit a deep jump-in (which is very difficult against a strong opponent) or you have to make a pretty much perfect fireball read (which is REALLY hard against a strong opponent). Guess wrong, and you’re eating heavy damage shit. But guess right, and you’re given the opporunity to do some decent damage but ONLY if you succed with a 1-frame link (and, again, this is after you succeed with connecting that difficult ass ex rcf). Fail your link, and your eating a 360 grab or dp. If anything, that ex rcf-cr.mp link should be easier as to reward you for nailing that damn roll, whereas say Cammy for example, can connect a ex divekick much easier, combo much easier, be much safer, score as much damage, etc.

If they don’t wan’t to give more hitstun on cr.lp, fine; he has a collection of other difficult ass combos to do. Pick and make one of them easier. OR improve his options during pressure. OR fix ex fba so it doesn’t miss on crouchers/in corners.

The changes we got are kind of nice and complementary, but really not up to par with what he needed and what others got.

Also, again, why do we lose the claw? Vega is far from owerpowered even with the claw and this is a stupid weakness unique to this character only.

we will have at least another patch coming soon thí year(to fix bug, nerf some top tiers, etc), I hope they won’t remove anything from Vega right now

Hm, sorry, but do you have the source for this info?

i’m sorry I don’t have any official source for this, but my friend currently actives in Capcom community who had 5200PP Xboxlive told me that. I also believe it’s true when currently Elena has many glitches, Juri is somewhat strong and unblockables still exists. On the other hand, trial mode for all characters will be coming soon, so I think it’s the time new balance patch comes to us.

However, I’m ok with Ultra Vega right now so i don’t want any nerf to him. If any buff appear, I prefer Cr.LP +5 the most

this could be like the time when they released the patch to fix the fei long infinite on Dudley, but it shouldn’t be anymore than a bug fix and added in trials. nerf/buff other characters is highly unlikely though. btw take whatever this 5200pp guy said with a grain of salt, you can’t believe everything you read on the net. which includes this post…
