ULTRA C.Viper Match-up Thread

Here is a vid of a recent Rose match. I lose pretty bad to Rose and its getting to the point I will not get to my PP rank goals because I lose so much to her.

Her specials, especially EX give me trouble at footsie range. I can out zone her, but once she starts jumping in I have a hard time AAing her because of her jump arc and her shamwow priority.

On wakeup she a lot of options to beat BK vortex. What I think I will start doing is LK BK right on top of her to beat her air throw and ex shamwow. (spiral is shamwow right?)

I found neutral jump to bait a lot of her stuff useful. In this linked vid I was doing neutral jump HK which make me face the opposite way which makes it hard to punish her whiffs.

Any tips vs Yun and Yang?

Finally fought PrRog in ranked and got wrecked. Yuns so hard to get anything started. Also I find it very difficult to shake him off me. Am I better of just rushing him down rather then being defensive???

Against Yun;

He is much harder than Yang because of how much damage he can do to make you respect his punishes.

c.MK / s.MP xx LP Tetsuzanko is not a true block string. You can interrupt it with EX BK / EX Seismo or focus dash through it or focus backdash out.

He has an option select against your wake up that if it’s spaced and timed correctly can only be escaped through focus backdash but he can adapt to it as well so be careful.

If he has You Hou stocked and you have to guess between Kobokushi and Zenpou Tenshin just BK if you are midscreen because you’re midscreen so you don’t have to get hit by You Hou, but if you’re in the corner just block and take the Zenpou Tenshin so the Ultra gets scaled.

Do not try to anti-air neutral jump dive kicks as they can bait you at max HK dive kick range. Only anti-air if they jump towards you at the correct jump range as you can guarantee the anti-air. If they neutral jump, the safest response is to jump back.

Against Yang;

Tell him to stop pressuring with staggered s.lp with HP TK. The same with c.LK xx Tourou Zan.

Same applies to his dive kicks.

For a general strategy, this applies to every dive kick character.

Your goal is not to let them play their dive kick game. You anti-airs have to be perfect if that was possible. When you take away their dive kicks they are forced to play the ground game which is where you can start applying pressure and mix-ups.

Neutral is still the same as against any character Seismo feints from max distance to bait them into dashes / jumps and begin pressure and back off after they can start playing their ground neutral against you.

Anyone have more advice for this matchup? This might be my worst matchup as Viper.

What happened to the drop down tabs for the matchups?
