And I obviously was not talking about Kusoru being scared of the environment.
The thing that makes me salty about Kusoru is that you’re all biting on this troll that he doesn’t want to come back. He doesn’t want to come back because he loves the negative attention and how shitty it makes the USFGC look.
He’s just rubbing copious amounts of salt in the wound. He’s a really smart guy. He wants to make us HATE him.
This is a guy who’s known for randomly throwing out a move that’s -infinity, then RCing it into the same move again. This is a guy who’s known for literally doing Sol’s walldive kick that’s terrible over and over again and eventually it’ll hit.
He is a master troll. Stop getting baited. He really won twice on one weekend.
If he is trolling then I will admit to getting baited. I let trash talk of any kind get to me, I’m like sanford (minus the refly combos)
Everyone he beat was all smiles and shook his hand. He outplayed them. They respected it.
He played a first to ten against Justin because he was looking forward to playing him and didn’t get to fight him in the tournament.
He didn’t play any other money matches. He basically told everyone else to ‘hold that l’, and then dipped back to Japan with a smile on his face and a bunch of money in his pocket. Of course people were getting heated that he didn’t want to money match, they saw the shit he was doing and were like “I want to play them!” This happens at every major, regardless of what country you’re from.
You don’t think Justin/PRRog/Combo/Kyohei/etc don’t get money match requests any and every time they win a tournament? People want to play the best player, the guy who won the tournament. They want to see how they size up against this player they didn’t get to play. There’s not always a reason for beef. I asked Valle to a MM at MWC2010 and used that as a measuring stick for my SFIV skills. I chilled with Marn and talked shit about how much the game sucked the whole time, and was supposed to play him for money but couldn’t find him after singles.
Sometimes a moneymatch comes from beef, legitimate or not. Maybe a coastal rivalry. Maybe it’s a runback of a high level match. Maybe some random dude came up to you and asked you to money match. Popoffs aren’t always involved, and most people who are actually good at the game are pretty respectful.
It’s just really easy to play to weeaboos and outsiders of the Marvel community and paint us as a bunch of thugs picking on a frail asian who plays ‘for the fun of the game’ when in reality that shit’s deader than entertaining commentary on majors. Fuck Ultrachen.
I haven’t been keeping track of this game for quite some time, but after watching this Japanese dude literally destroy a bunch of tier whores with at least two of the worst characters in the game (and reading some of the comments from Americans), I really gotta just LOL at all of you who take video games this seriously. He came to your country, mopped you all the fuck up and left laughing. He doesn’t have to come back to prove shit. Why don’t you go over there and challenge him if 'yall are so butthurt?
Man, the comments I’ve been reading about this whole thing are pretty fuckin’ hilarious. I hope that kid never comes back just to see how much it burns people who’d inject this game into their veins if they could.
Joe, Frank and Log Trap are far from the worst(A-B tier easy). All this ‘proved’ is that synergy matters over 3 point characters trying to bully thru teams
Oh and if he really was stupid enough to think that people wanted money matching because ‘its our game’ or ‘because he stole the tournament’ then he doesn’t need to come back to America. But I’m 90% sure he’s trolling.
actually it was one mid-tier, two high mid-tiers, and two of the best assists in the game used in a way no one had seen before.
You say trolling, I say he was just having fun.
Everyone wanted to beat him, not just play him. That’s what he didn’t like. And they wanted to put the money he just earned on the line - basically trying to take away his win from him. Yes, they wanted to play him because he won the tournament and that’s all well and good, but you have to realize Kusoru isn’t American - he isn’t used to that sort of idea. He plays the game to have fun and he usually uses what most consider “trolling” to do so
I’m sure everyone now knows how to beat log trap; Hell, I’m sure people knew how to while everyone he faced was running into it. Fanatiq even streamed himself watching it for the first time, explaining how he would’ve handled it and what everyone was doing wrong. But that doesn’t make Kusoru a good player - he did many excellent things during his matches and people seem to be discrediting him simply because “omg he just kept spamming log trap and voomerang wtf scrub”. Why would he stop doing it if it works? That’s like the equivalent of losing to someone and saying “omg you just kept hitting me wtf scrub”.
I’m sure the dude wasn’t just a one-gimmick-for-life type of guy, his team has good synergy regardless of log trap and he had many other good setups that most people eyeballed over. He responded to any situation presented to him with (usually) the correct decision. Remember when he layed down the spring trap to prevent Vergil from teleporting to him, cutting off one of his most valuable options in the scenario? Remember when he X-Factor’d with Frank West, rolled, and anti-air hypered DP? Yeah, the man wasn’t just a gimmick.
But regardless of all that, no matter how good the player, he wasn’t used to our customs. I doubt in Japan people rush up to Daigo after he’s won and say “oh naw nigga you playin me in a MM right now son i will blow yo’ ryu up 4 real son”. Maybe he didn’t want to risk the money he’d just earned, either. It’s not like he thinks he’s the best player or anything - infact, I’m pretty sure he said he’s one of the worst in Japan. I even recall from fubarduck’s twitter that if people just wanted to play him he would’ve gladly accepted, but everyone wanted to cut him down because he’d just won the tournament, claiming that it was just dumb luck and gimmicks, etc etc.
I’m sure everyone wants to play him now, even if it isn’t for money, but because we acted so hostile and salty over him winning he’s probably never coming back. It sucks, but maybe this will teach those of us who did request a MM against Kusoru to just ask to play the game with him instead - or anyone who wins for that matter. Yes, it’s more fun to play for money, but requesting to do so right after someone just won some seems a little… disrespectful, don’t you think?
What the fuck planet do you live on where people actually act like this?
They’re not mutually exclusive. The point of trolling is that you’re generally having fun at other people’s expense
If they want to test him they can fly to japan or should have made it into finals,Mofoz in the back of the bus are there for a reason.I would not have bothered for a bunch of randoms or butthurts that ended up spectators or lost early…Homie won and had a check to spend not play random BUTT HURT ass puppets…
dudes fighting MMA in local shows with 20 dudes watching dont get to go to a ufc match and ask to fight the Newest champ…they have to earn there way there
You’re still strong as long as you’re honest.
this thread is pretty retarded
Japan isn’t magically the better marvel community all of a sudden, we beat their ass for 10 years in mvc2
umvc3 system changes is a complete overhaul of the mvc2 mechanics, they shouldn’t even be called the same name honestly they’re that different. Magneto lost over 75% of his mixup options going into a new game and storm lost more than that. I haven’t seen an update to a series go through this many drastic changes, its biggest overhaul of any fighting engine.
this is just another case of a brand new game and someone picking some weird shit to win tournaments. @ this same point in time for mvc2, iceman was top tier, sentinel was garbage, and justin wong was winning with magneto\cable\cammy.
its pretty simple. Mvc2 was mvc2 for 10 years, we didn’t have to constantly worry about updates, what or won’t get patched and we figured out the game @ a top tier level. umvc3 is basically a brand new game and many of the mvc2 tactics don’t work anymore. Everyone is playing something new and sometimes, ugly shit wins tournaments this early in a games life cycle
does anyone here want to compare year 1 mvc2 to year 10 mvc2?
when a game is brand new, new ugly shit is allowed to win because no one expects it yet. Its part of the game being new process. Now if this was mvc2, a game we played for 10 years with 0 updates, everyone knew what to expect so there were 0 random curve balls.
everyone basically started from square 1 again, its the MAIN reason why the playing field is currently even and people have to remember that for several years, Japan had players for the top 5 in mvc2 @ evo. As the years progressed, we slowly started edging their better players out to the point where they couldn’t crack top 8
tl;dr:
Marvel 3 is Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2 and we’re still finding out how to play it.
That’s fine I just don’t feel the US scene is really representing itself right now as a scene that owns Marvel. Nobody is saying the Japanese as a whole are better than the US. That’s not even what the thread is about.
That is a little bit of the problem I would say though since going on about “US beat Japan in MVC2 YOO” is kind of not considering the fact that UMVC3 is a VERY different game from MVC2 and is EXACTLY what gives the Japanese the room to win and stay close against the US. There’s no reason for them to get shut out like the old days especially since they can use most of the cast and not just 4 characters. I don’t feel that mentality of “US beats da Japans” is really healthy for winning consistently against them anymore.
It’s just for right now the US just isn’t acting like it cares enough about the game for us to really get over such things as a whole. Everything is just being called BS or gimmicky instead of actually working to fight it. It goes beyond the US vs. Japan thing. You can just see it with people just giving up on dealing with Morrigan + Missiles and other old school cheap stuff and just complaining about things rather than getting through them. Some people talk about it as if they don’t want to play it but still play it. I don’t play games I don’t like so that’s why I hopped off SFIV once something new came out. I don’t play what I don’t like and I only played SFIV simply because it was either that or play nothing at all when it came to getting hard competition.
**About Kusoru’s team…it’s not THAT weird. The characters are weird but the premise is similar which is basically pick a team that is relevant at super jump height and can switch between offense and defense regularly. PR Rog’s team is more weird than Kusoru’s team if you account for such. **PR Rog’s team is really just 3 point characters for the most part that provide shit for assists unless Dante is in there.
What you’re bringing up can really be said about SFIV also. Basic SF footsies work to some extent but it’s not really a game that every player felt really brought out what SF is about. Plenty of top names both in US and Japan who just didn’t want nothing to do with the game. Which makes sense when you’re used to the rules of those games. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad game…it’s just way too different from what a lot of people are used to in SF.
I just simply made this thread to say that I like that the Japanese who play this game seriously enough to win major events in it seem to be doing a much better job of being creative about dealing with the oppressive situations the game presents. Rather than just putting their hands down over anything that seems really powerful.
Yeah 1 MVC2 to year 10 MVC2 isn’t really that relevant IMHO since MVC2 came out before the youtubes and stuff that would have evolved the game much faster. There was also a general huge difference in strength between the top and lower tiers. The issue people had with the game is that it didn’t really matter how much you knew about the lower cast since they were that much worse than the tops.
What was so impressive about his game? His BnB with Joe was literally Air Joe (or whatever the mash thing is) to TAC combos every time since they’re a reward/neutral mechanic. No one respected Log Trap or Mach Speed and while the Frank set up was hype it wasn’t new technology. Like I said he’s still clearly a smart player and the matches were entertaining, but if he wasn’t Japanese no one would be going as crazy.
