Edited the thread for extra posts to be used for archives of stuff if things get too much to put in my first two posts. I wanna have a section that has a large list of match videos from players that people can just quickly go to and watch from one spot.

DevilJin helpin out the forum babbies

LOL. Everybody was a baby once I guess.

Updated with link that shows some testing with X-23 and Akuma of how the changes to HSD affect those characters.

Well, I have a few questions. I dunno if this is the right place to ask or not though but why not try. I’m just hoping I get some kind of response. Anyway,

I’ve been playing this game since the first day of Vanilla and I’ve gotten pretty decent at it. I’ve gone to a few locals, but most of my time is playing online (the place where option-select stream is is way too far away from me. I’d go if I could go weekly). I’ve gotten average at this game. I’m not amazing or anything but I’ve played a few other fighting games and most of my fundamentals come from those games.

I’m looking for ways to improve at this game. I was playing ranked earlier and I got the worst loss streak I’ve gotten in this game in quite a while and it was all to random shit. Like, easy to see coming run up cr.L’s, and TACs all day. It was ridiculous but I’m trying to stop getting random’d out like that. It’s taking me a bit of time to adapt to Ultimate, but I’d like to know ways to make that process faster. What should I be doing to improve? I sit in training mode quite a bit, like hours at a time when I’m not at work or at school. Do I need to do that more or should I play actual people more? How can I stop getting “random’d”? Most of the matches I lose, I’m in a commanding lead then I somehow lose.

For reference my team is Zero/Vergil/Dante. Hopefully someone responds to this and this post doesn’t rot, lol.

It’s usually easier for me to figure out if I see match vids and stuff. Usually when you’re on a “losing streak” it’s because there’s something that you’re missing in most of the matches that you should be doing that would clear up a hole that gets you killed often. You probably don’t even realize that you keep opening up that hole over and over again and the random losses that you are taking are those random hits being placed in those same situations that you aren’t covering over and over.

Updated general videos section with bar fights matches.

Updated general videos section with my X-23 Changes Evaluation video (over 25 minutes of footage).

Looking for people to post up solid match vids or tutorial vids that aren’t already on front page of SRK. That way people can get access to a lot of stuff that’s going on per character/player and access to more stuff that isn’t already popularized via the front page. When I get the chance I’ll archive the stuff on the general videos section.

Honestly, I think you should just play more matches. I have the opposite problem, in that I don’t spend much time in training room at all, so my combos are lacking, but I spend all of my time in lobbies and ranked match, so I tend to develop good defense and a good neutral game, which sounds like what you’re having trouble with. I’m not too sure how great you can get at that without simply playing a bunch of matches, since the training room computer isn’t really a great opponent to practice that stuff against.

Also, it could just be mental, I tend to have similar breakdowns to you only when I’m playing down to my competition. If I try to force myself to treat every online opponent like Justin Wong or something, I tend to not screw up as much. You almost have to play even more defensively against random scrubs because they tend to do completely random stuff that throws you off. It’s like playing poker with someone that doesn’t know what the cards mean, you can’t read their bets at all because they’re just doing random stuff.
