dude’s not bad by any means, but I think he won’t be seeing top 10 this time around, imo…

Diemeinion is that you? LOL! But seriously you guys missed some hilariously awesome matches at the Big 2.

I dunno man, Dorm was pretty fucking dumb in Vanilla, and now he’s worse with the auto-mixup dark matter.

Well tiers in general in this game are a bit iffy because of different rolls of characters for example; When people think tiers they imagine one character destroying an entire team, but they don’t realize that it takes some circumstances for that to happen. They need the right assists (or X-factor), and to outplay the opponent. If Wesker didn’t have that otg gunshot he still would get play, and although he might not be top 10 most offensive threats on point, he’s on 50% of the teams right now for everything else he does on top of that.

I can’t think of 10 other characters that you can slap on a team that will provide a better point game, a better assist, more leeway with mistakes (health + execution), and a scarier X-factor lvl 3 comeback when things go south.

edit: And Dorm is a beast man. There’s too many good characters, can’t wait till this game fleshes out more.
And when i say high tier I was thinking top 15-20, there’s 50 characters so I would think
Top (5-10 overpowered chars)
High (10-15 good chars) (placing Wesker here or above)
mid (10-15 solid)
low (10-15 lacking something)
bottom (10-15 strong disadvantages)

Lol, dude its funny that he plays the same guys as me, that are pretty underused. I played um since Vanilla, however I eventually dropped Morrigan, picked her up in this iteration though shes a lot better to my surprise.
For the record I rock V.Joe/Vergil/Morrigan

Yeah, I agree. When I tier people I try to think what they’re best at, how good they are at it, whos behind them/who are they backing up, etc.

I think Wesker is pretty solid cause you can play him anywhere, but imo he shines anchor. Similar to Doom, except I’d say Doom 2nd with Strider 3rd is better. (Same could go for Wesker too.)

I can’t think of 10 characters that are that easy to put into a team, but I can think of 10 characters that are better.

And yes, Dorm is a beast. Better than Wesker.

He can basically OCV whole teams easily still in XF3. Part of the reason I have him as anchor also is because in XF3 you can still kill two people easily with only spending a meter at the end at most if you need to. He has TOD’s easily without XF anytime he hits someone and the combo lands them near the corner at the end. Still builds 2 plus meters in the corner without XF.

He does have the capabilities in XF to run through a team since his corner mix ups are pretty strong but even without XF he can still kill you without XF easily. The only issue to running Doom as anchor is his OS throw game is not as strong as other anchors which forces you to grind a bit more to get in and use projectiles that can lock people down but they can also advance guard and push you out. He’s still a completely viable anchor with or without XF though because he can kill you by himself without or without XF, can dash through advance guards at will and has a solid zone game if he needs to lame out other XF’s for a bit.

Filipino Champ shitting on Dr Strange in his stream right now. Basically says he isn’t a real character… just an assist (eye of agamotto) + random supers (vishanti)

Im so hot-cold with this guy. At first I thought he was ok, then I thought he wasn’t good, then I thought he was great, then I thought he was just “solid”, and now I think he is a little above that…

It’s only a matter of time before people realize these characters have potential. Filipino Champ was also downplaying the changes to Dorm acting like he isn’t more or less completely better overall. Unlike Wesker…instead of glasses Dorm got multiple TOOL based buffs. Plus the guy still loves Phoenix so his ability to see anything powerful outside of what was good in Vanilla you can’t really expect.

He’s a solid player obviously, it’s just you can’t expect some top players to see much other than what hurps and durps as top tier. Players like Filipino Champ are just looking for what is the best with the least effort essentially. Not necessarily who is the actual best at controlling the game.

Seriously? Wesker? Mid-tier? Fuck outta here with that nonsense. He top tier easily. He’s just has too much bullshit, not to mention x-factor. Him and Spencer are the only two characters I consistently have trouble with. Hell, the person can be absolute ass with the rest of his team, but then Wesker comes in and all of the sudden I can’t even get a fucking hit in. Fuck Wesker.

Capcom clearly wants him to be one of the best characters in the game if not the best. I’m super salty they didn’t rape him like they did Phoenix. I mean in vanilla, Wesker was fucking cannon fodder for Phoenix, but now he can pull his bullshit off on her too. I feel like he needs nerfs just as bad.

He’s just the easiest to use character that could qualify as A or S tier. To me he’s just A tier though. Which is basically higher mid tier and still better than flat mid tier. Wesker is hardly more cheap than at least 10 or 15 other characters in the game.

If you’re losing to XF3 Wesker, you just need to find a character that can lame him out at the top of the screen. If you’re losing to like standard Wesker, just need to learn the matchup. Especially if it’s one of those random Weskers that rarely call assists. Unless you’re using garbage characters you should not be fish out of water against Wesker anymore. Dude gets played all day now so you should have the matchup down.

its because nobody really knows what they should do with him his first impression outside of traning mode is really bad

watch ryan hunter’s dr strange

even little things like pushing them out the corner slightly so you can port behind them when they think you cant is dirty as fuck

This is pretty much how I feel about him too, he has so many problems with the better characters it’s really hard to ignore. I also feel the only way to cancel his gunshot is nothing more than an unavoidable waste of meter more times than not (a problem in Vanilla too obviously). Not to mention his hypers have dreadful synergy with other characters from what I can tell. He’s still a threat, but it’s becoming clear his OP status was getting blown way out of proportion before release.

Hidden missiles + Strange projectiles is probably the most frustrating thing I’ve come across in the game thus far in regards to getting in. Probably doesn’t help the dude was also running Vajra as well.

As annoying as they are, I think eventually we’ll see a lot more TACs this time around. ToDs cost enough in resources now that actively attacking those resources can be very game plan hindering.

I want to play Strange, but every time I pick him up everything is just so awkward. I thought lack of an air dash wouldn’t be a big deal, and as far as just being comfortable with the character I was wrong. The only having one low attack thing also really messes with me, essentially, his entire game plan to open people up is teleport. I still think he’s a really good character, but he’s just so bloody counter intuitive that it’s very hard to show that right now.

Wesker’s greatest weakness as an anchor: Firebrand or Strider clinging to the side of the screen at the top and just chilling while Wesker runs around like an idiot until XFactor runs out.

I don’t even know if they can cling at super jump height, but the thought of Strider wall clinging and just climbing up while Wesker runs around because he can’t do anything about it makes me laugh.

no particular order in the tiers but I think this is where the characters are gonna be for no

Top tier(great)
Zero… Even better now and can still ToD people off of just about anything still… good job capcom on this one
C.Viper… people will see how good she is once more people put the effort into playing her
Doom… best assist pool in the game, Jump S is like the new hammer, good normals, do it all
Dormammu… why did they buff him, The only nerf that may get him to move out of “best anchor in the game” spot if the flame carpet nerf
Dante… Still has all of the tools to be dominant, just takes more work.

High tier. (good to great)
Vergil… Dominates the ground game with 3/4 screen normals and safe block strings… and yes this character can Build his own meter if he needs too
Wesker… Still has the best OTG assist in the game, still an asshole, enough said
Strider… Hard to block, unhittable normals, XF2/3 oroburos is retarded.
Spencer… one of the most improved characters in the cast, enough said
Nova… This character hits like, not a truck, a Tank. Nasty resets, great grab game, has the right stuff
Magneto… He’s still good/great, takes some adjustments but still dangerous
Firebrand… wow this character is annoying, if he had damage output he’d be top tier, but then again its only been 9 days.
Deadpool… Slept on, I think he’s really really solid, lower on the damage output scale without assists.
X-23… Basically Vanilla wolverine that takes execution, meter build hurts her in the “I can get 2 dirt naps in a game” department, but she is very solid
Ryu… 2nd most improved character in the game
Akuma… Tatsu assist is still godlike, still a horrifying anchor in XF3
Taskmaster… still hurts, still has a great couple of assists, solid overall.
Storm… best DHC options in the game, enough said
Frank West… once he hits level 3 he is a problem, enough said
Rocket Raccon… I could be wrong, but he’s got the stuff to be tops in this game
Felicia… cat-girl version of Wesker essentially
Morrigan… serveral buffs and one big nerf… i think the buffs outweigh the nerfs from what I am seeing
Captian America… Has everything to be good in this game overall and now he functions
Iron-man… Has all of the tools, still has a hell of a time hit-confirming though, really great assists (Repulser Blast FTW)
Amaterasu-Air-dash nerf hurts, but has alot of really good tools

Mid-tier(good to servicabe)
Phoenix Wright… The threat of turnabout mode assists puts him here, he must die whenever he is on the field due to those assists, outside of turnabout mode, hes very mid-low tier
Spider-man… probibly sleeping on him but seems like he got better overall
M.O.D.O.K.- more or less still un-discovered
Phoenix… still phoenix, takes way more work, meter gain nerf hurts her really really bad
Trish… still annoying, hard to get. hurts more too
V. Joe… Solid, got better enough said.
Dr. Strange, I’m sure he’s higher than mid-tier but haven’t played enough of him to see otherwise, Spell of Vishanti is godlike, enough said
Ghost Rider… Loses to real keepaway real bad, but is a good character none the less
Nemesis T-type… Capcom got the “Big” character design right, but has all of the problems of being big in a game like this
Sentinel… Drones, they still be godlike (all of sentinels assists are good in my book) has problems being Big
Iron-Fist… all about that assist
Chris- Probibly better, but still getting fleshed out
Hawkeye… good assists, good zoning, not an anchor
Thor… got somewhat better
Arthur… servicable with the way the game is panning out
Jill… still good, still being discovered
Hulk… got more smash.
Super-Skrull, got better overall but I feel he’s still mid-tier
Wolverine… ok but way too honest about his goals to be good
Shuma-gorath… servicable… but did get better
Chun-li… got better overall, still needs help but stronger than her vanilla version for sure
She-hulk… another character that’s still ok, but way too honest
Haggar… still has one of the best assists in the game, can still confirm into things

Low tier
Hsien-ko…needs help still but technology is getting there

Tron tier
Tron- it looks bleak here man…

I want to use strange badly, but im finding to do various loops and make the most out of his mobility, i need to consistently get his teleport, and the rdp is a pain to do on pad consistently. Ive had to take him off my main team until i can somewhat use him(still going to practice the hell out of him,but i really need a way to get those teleports)
He has tools(if your able to use them of course) so he is more than an assist and super though.

I agree almost 100% with this.

And I only say almost because I didn’t bother to think long and hard about the order of the low to mid tiers, but I’m pretty sure that order will be stirred up with new technology anyway.

The top/high looks to be accurate enough imho.

The most solid list until now, IMO.

but Hawkeye has way more power than that, he’s a better Doctor Strange.
Better Zoning, Better Normals, Better “Punish Everything” super.

I still think Hawkeye is the best of the new characters, Vergil, Strider and Firebrand come right after him.

I’d drop Thor and Iron Fist to low tier and up Hawkeye to high.

I think Spiderman was a character Capcom did really well on. He for the most part controls the screen, and is like a fly who is REALLY hard to hit. Jill’s still pretty solid, and I believe she’s about High tier. She’s really hard to block, and can keep up a solid defense against rush-down oriented teams with her Sum.Salt. Jill’s combos can still do 700k+ with an otg’d assist on your team (heartless spire works too!, no need for wesker). Pretty good ground mobility and mix-ups, but is somewhat free against zoning. However, MGS can stop that shit in it’s track. Pushblock is LOL against her. MODOK’s going to get up there too in my opinon but like you said, he’s still being explored.

nice tier list dude.

Hawkeye is high tier at the minimum IMO. Probably top 3 best zoner in the game. He basically turns the match into a dead zone when he has meter even against Dark Phoenix. SO many matches are won on the strength of Hawkeye’s slide, air throw and Gimlet. His projectile assist is really good and in general his arrows come out very quickly stuffing out most offense. Hawkeye also bodies other zoners like Ghost Rider.

Overall solid list for sure outside of a few kinks.
