This, but also I guess my main point is that if you have a passion for a character you like you will likely do better with them because of your drive to succeed with YOUR team than just picking abc top tier then doing some stuff people have trouble with you saw from youtube.
You’ll likely find more ways to win and new tech with a character you actually care about than just some means to an end for you is all I’m saying. Maybe I just don’t have the words to say what I’m thinking properly.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t most of this thread think Viper was meh to bad somewhat recently? Through the dedication (research, strong arguments) of a few good players, she was proven to be an extremely strong character. Is that going to happen with every character deemed bad? Of course not. But hey, if you put in time with a character, find just the right team, whatever, you might prove that the character you’re working with isn’t so bad after all.
I like the rest of this post, but this part is my favorite. Makes me hanker for some Mercenaries.
I’ve always been curious, what is happening to Cable’s arm after he wins?
I’m not enough of a Marvel nerd to know.
Oh wait wikipedia FTW.
A techno-organic virus (also known as T-O virus) is a fictional virus in the Marvel Comics universe. The virus transforms organic material into techno-organic material. Techno-organic material resembles both machinery and living tissue. All techno-organic cells function like independent machines and carry both the virus and all information on their carriers, including memories and appearance. This allows a techno-organic being to rebuild itself from a single cell when destroyed.

It’s been awhile since I read Cable’s origin but I think it was something to do with a cyber virus and he has to use a incredible amount of his mental powers to keep from over growing and becoming a monster or something bad will happen I forget. If Cable didn’t have to always use so much energy keep his disease in check he would be the most powerful telepath…or so they say.
But yeah that win animation is likely hinting at the battle being intense and need more focus to win which took away focus from containing the virus which caused a his arm to grow like the virus does when he doesn’t focus and he just ended the battle in enough time to stop the virus spreading again.
Of course it’s been awhile so some of this may be wrong.
Edit: Damn, I should have just used wiki too sigh…at least I remember some of that complicated back story of Cable’s because marvel seems to like to change and mess with it.
Puts on nerd glass
Cable has a fatal virus that could have destroy his body, so throughout most of his life he had to use his TK powers to slow it down. So
So obviously you’d imagine that Cable would eventually get tired of using his power, so he release his infected arm to rest. Hence his win pose.

The only players that think Viper is S tier are Viper players. While they’ve made a great point that she’s incredibly good, if the best execution players in the country occasionally get punked by Viewtiful Joe…
I actually think the biggest mistake is that Viper players tend to put her on point, when she only starts with one meter, despite her being so much better with shit tons of meter to burn.
Maybe the C.Viper nerf was the overall UMvC3 meter nerf?
Dude… I can’t tell you how much my inner fanboy creamed my pants when Wesker was revealed and he had nearly all of his Mercenaries Mode stuff intact.
I know people are salty about Wesker right now… but do you really realize how perfect Capcom made him in respect to the source material?
If you think he’s busted in this game… RE5 Midnight Wesker would like a few words with you…
Viper is a EXCELLENT battery, meter positive combos and whatnot, so putting her on point isn’t a mistake in the least.
She’s on point to maximize her potential. (which by the way is very high)

Nooooo Wesker doesn’t actually have fans from a well known franchise he was only put into the game to keep people from playing the noble Viper and Zero obviously. He couldn’t possibly have had a bunch of people begging capcom to put him in a game like this then excited to see a accurate version be in a fighting game.
Nope… he was only made to made you salty.
I would be all for Viper having a teleport as long as it has 20 frames of start-up and 47 frames of recovery.

Knowing capcom, while they’re at it she’ll get wesker’s shade buffs too. Maybe a trenchcoat and a sword so everyone picks her up.
Wesker is pretty much god tier in anything he’s in Capcom loves him just as much as the fans do. Mercenaries in RE5 is just broken with either version of him Midnight or STARS (especially STARS though). He was also pretty amazing in RE4 Mercenaries, I don’t remember how good he was in the CVX battle game though.

Oh. I know there’s plenty of Wesker fans. I’m a fan of the character too. I just don’t think the entire top8 at NEC were just coincidentally all big Wesker fans.
You missed my point, because I pretty much agree with everything you said. Except that I think it’s foolish to deny the intense laziness that’s infected so much of the MvC3 community. Yes, you’re going to probably do better with a character you’re passionate about, but there’s a lot of players who really don’t seem to be driven by any sort of passion at all. Though in fairness you can see in some of the weeklies and at SCR some of the players who at least appear more passionate about the game starting to distance themselves from other top players. It’s not your sentiment I disagree with ( though I do think a tier thread isn’t the right place for the warm and fuzzy bullshit ), merely that I don’t think it’s a particularly pervasive mindset in the MvC3 community right now.
Eh. I think they could have put more emphasis on his teleportation for different moves. One of his favorite gimmicks in cutscenes in RE5 are the chain teleport combos, and while his teleports do feel really “right”, there isn’t as much teleporting mid combo as I’d like in regards to “accurate” portrayal.
i dropped sf4 for resident evil 5.
when wesker was announced for mvc3, i was hyped as shit and i knew i’d use him. never thought he’d turn out this good and i’m glad he did.
the only thing missing from Wesker’s portrayal in this game is needing injections.
There you go there’s his nerf after a set amount of time on the clock his health starts dropping like DP or you sacrifice a crap ton of meter to save him >__>
if they are gonna implement his injections, i want his projectile dodge invulnerability back.
Marlinpie (Viper) loses to Joe, and Chrisis (Viper) knocks out Flocker (Zero).
Therefore, Zero = God and Viper = Overrated…?
I don’t think I’ll every fully understand some of these arguments.
