I don’t see how Sent is the best of the tanks. That guy has too many nerfs, and Thor/Hulk get so much mileage on point. Sent is still has the best synergy of the tanks because of his assist/HSF being a godlike super.

There isn’t anything in Wesker’s arsenal, past or present, that makes me rage remotely as hard as getting hit by a single Berserker Slash did.

“Phoenix isn’t that good, just snap her in.”

I don’t think I’m downplaying, I just find it hard to believe a character who was in the lower spectrum of top 10 in the first one, was nerfed from that one to this one, is this new awesome character that anyone can’t beat.

Can you really call Sent a tank? He has a big hurtbox and can deal easy, high damage combos off of his normals, but he can’t sponge hits/survive one more combo/make the opponent spend more meter to finish him off.

If you think of Nemesis like a purely a long ranged poking only sure. Nemesis is more like Ghost Rider and Hulk had a baby. Nemesis and Ghost Rider are quite a bit different actually.

Nemesis has super armor, grab, and a rocket for instance. So he can handle up close pressure a bit better while his pokes aren’t on Ghost Rider’s lvl. Especially with his Jumping :h: which can shutdown alot of options because it hits both ways. But if you look at his toolkit, you find out he is a solid character.

Felicia yea she probably A tier. I like using her. Just in the last game. Wolverine eclipse most of the rush down characters.

“Why bother?” is what’s killing games before they even get a chance. Those characters aren’t necessary because of how young the game is. What I am saying is that, given time, innovation will be crucial to winning tournaments. There’s always straightforward and effective characters in any game, but as the lifespan of the game continues, they lose their effectiveness. I guarantee that after UMvC3 has been broken open for a good couple of years, we will see a decline in the number of straightforward characters like Wesker, and the rise of more execution-heavy and complex characters, high tier or not. Characters that have more to work with than the fundamentals (like Wesker) will excel as the meta of a game develops.

Air throwing or countering Hammer is much harder on reaction in Ultimate, because the move is noticeably faster now. It’s a tool for stopping pressure, something that Wesker relies on. His zoning game is next to none now with the gun being nerfed, so rushdown is his main thing anymore. Dante can either stay on top of Wesker with that move, or tell him to get back in more than one way. Against Weskers, I usually run Dante on point, because the matchup is honestly very much in Dante’s favor. Hammer and Devil Trigger solve anything Wesker can throw at him. Not much you can do when an already amazing character gains more air mobility, the best beam in the game, and a more abusable version of Hard Drive that leads to full combo.

Phoenix, Viper, Zero, Dante, Wolverine, Magneto, Wesker

Phoenix nerfed, Viper buffed, Zero buffed, Dante nerfed, Wolverine nerfed, Magneto nerfed, Wesker even IMO

Nah, I’ll take losing full screen comboes for jumping in or at all really over kinda powerup anyday.

Vergil using a teleport with Hawkeye triple arrow assist is tearing up Xbox Live. I fought so many people using this same tatic lol. But seriously, Vergil is being used a lot, and he seems mad strong with his looping attacks. Are you guys considering him top tier as a point character?

The rocket is poop it goes over so many of the cast it’s nearly worthless. TKing it is ok, but doing Angled Deadly Reach then the rocket is very unsafe. It’s nice to have, but seems way too easy to avoid to be worth a lick.

Haha for real, and the “phoenix is easy, just snap her in” comments were always so laughably absurd. I never understood people who think like this. Wesker isn’t unbeatable (which no one has been saying, but Wesker defence force players keep repeating), but he’s still brainless as fuck with a leg up over most of the cast. He’s pretty much the perfect character for players who need to wear helmets to eat cereal, and that’s not changing anytime soon. He’s also the reason why I have to put Trish on every team I use to fight the abundance of this character’s appearance.

Like many things in this game I can accept Wesker’s stupidity and attempt to battle against it, but I don’t have to like/respect his effortlessness. At all.

I’m rather curious actually, please do go on.

Regarding Sent, he hits like a Heavy, but he cannot function as a tank AT ALL, so in my opinion, his status as a Heavy is revoked (although I totally understand people still classifying him as such).

personally, I think a better way to “rank” the heavies is to rank them on point, and as an anchor, because just straight up “which is better” is soooooo subjective among these 4.

POINT
1)Nemesis
2)Thor
3)Hulk
4)Sentinel

ANCHOR
1)Sentinel
2)Hulk
3)Nemesis
4)Thor

It’s very debatable.

WITH SENTINEL:

  1. Sentinel: Because of how frequently he is played at a poor level he gets unfairly evaluated IMO. Flight, armor, command grab, zoning skills with good spacing (keep away in some instances), awesome wavedash, invincible hyper, and a great spacing hyper are all things in Sentinels tool set. Sentinel doesn’t really have a lot of mix ups and he is hard to get a hit with, but in competent hands (see Fanatiq, RayRay, F. Champ) he is an effective zoner and punisher.

  2. Nemesis: A lot like Sentinel, Nemesis thrives on armor, command grabs, and good spacing. He lacks the same style of zoning Sentinel has, but his long reaching normals and TK’d rockets are decent. His limited mobility puts him here for me though, he simply cannot keep the screen under the same control as Sentinel.

  3. Thor: Thor has more going for him than Sentinel and Nemesis. Tri-Dash, flight, command grabs, fast beam special, grab hyper, and beastly resets. He is just less practical than the two above him. His flight is horrible in practice and his tri-dash is pretty bad when compared with others. His pokes are bad (at least Sentinel and Nemesis have armor) and he is highly dependent on assist. My list combines all factors into rating these characters (includes anchor ability and point ability).

  4. Hulk: While Hulk has armor and a command grab himself, he is the easiest of the bigs to play against. Blocking Hulk is super easy, his command grab negated with advancing guard. While he can mitigate AG with his gamma charges, it isn’t hard to escape hulks pressure. The weakness of Hulk compared to the other 3 above him is that he relies on pressure instead of some sort of screen control and punshing. Sure, Hulk has a better move to punish with than the other 3 (st.H) but his overall gameplan isn’t as fit to use it. Gamma Wave is a great projectile, but it’s not nearly fast or practical.

I can discuss and defend more.

I think the number one reason why Flash’s MODOK was lighting up so many people is because of jamming bomb. Half of the people on the stream had no idea what to do about that move, and nobody knew about it’s mechanic except Flash. Nobody was able to super jump out, nobody could get out of MODOK pressure if they are jammed.

I always thought that jamming bomb is one of the more effective tools from MODOK anyway.

“wolverine is not that good, people can just keep him out all day”

Like I said, Wesker is just this games version of Cable.
He defines this game in a sense or two but he isn’t a cure all by any means

start up is still 19 frames not counting the additional 5 frame it takes to shift from killer bee to hammer.

with the long start up and the invincible frames not kicking in until the 11th frame wesker can even air loop him into launch now.

cable wasn’t even ranked top 5 in the earlier tier list despite everyone using him and getting results with him.

it took a while to finally accept that cable was indeed top 4 despite some having quite a few bad matches. (pretty much all the good characters except sentinel, which was 5/5 and 6/4 at best by the end of the games life) even now, people will argue that hes not top 4, but thats a whole nother story.
