I’ve been playing on PSN for a bit today. I can kind of see why Sean is always raging lol. I got called an “unfair, opportunistic, throw abusing asshole”. I can only play unranked though, b/c it’s my friend’s account.

You know, in retrospect, we probably could’ve had the tournament on same day as the GameStop tournament. It only took us like half an hour to get out of there since most of the matches were 3-0 landslides
Anyway, what day is the upcoming tournament? I don’t hear enough of it and I’m beginning to think someone’s going to drop the ball on planning/promoting this shit and we’ll have another fraternity tournament on our hands :rolleyes:
yeah same here. So the only thing known is that it’s on Friday? Who’s hosting what again and what time? It can’t just be me and Aure at the CvS2 machine playing our Terry and King teams. :bgrin:

At least with the small tournaments that the MUGA hosts, participation size is less relevant. I mean, dear God, but that frat tournament was horribly organized. Unfortunately, there’s no real means of communication throughout campus, less the town, and no, the paper doesn’t count, because that would cost a whole lot more money than a radio announcement (but the school doesn’t have something like that).
Plus, the frat tournament had unusually high expectations. They expected people to pay a high entry fee, go through a crapshoot just to potentially qualify for the prizes (even though he gained some redemption by trying to change it to a double-elimination minutes after it was supposed to start) and relied on having a lot of entrants for profit, trying to promote the thing in a time span of maybe one or two weeks, one if you really want to count from the day IV hit the consoles.
I knew it all added up to be a disaster, but I still held out for the hope that it could’ve happened; in that case, it would be hours of Cave regulars raping the UV lights out of frat guys who would go with a Shoto/Sagat or sorority girls who would’ve spammed LKs with Chun (while I would be watching, playing CvS2 on the side).
If I recall correctly, the frat tourney wanted, at the very least, 32 entrants for the normal prizes to even be considered. The first MUGA-hosted IV tourney had, like, 18 entrants, and the prize was a percentage of the entry fee pot. The frat couldn’t afford give out the prizes like that, especially if the primary function was a fundraise. Our flexible tourneys can.
Dude as of now, you’re probably the best muga srk poster out of all of us and should be our spokesperson just for summing up what all of us (me) are probably feeling about the previous tourney. I was still hoping that they would at least toss out the 360 even if there were < 30 people. I guess people knew better than to take on Jack or Eric or any of the other IV players even though it was single elim.
You can’t expect people who were trying to raise money for their own organization to then turn around and just give away $200 prizes. The world doesn’t run on sunshine and rainbows, Dennis.
It could have worked even if they barely turn a profit. There were 8 regulars there excluding me. Let’s say ~10 frat people who were entering, go nuts. That’s about 375 dollars.

And I know I was expecting too much from the frat tourney. I did think it would be similar to the tourney before that simply because the stakes were higher which might have garnered more anticipation. Instead the opposite happened even though advertising was almost the same :\
