Even if Tanaka was a conceited asshole who thinks that he’s better than everyone else (in fighting games) he definitely has the track record to back it up. The only other Davis regular who could possibly win 3 tournaments in one day is Randy.
Thus, to be good at all the games played means he’s doing something right and that other people can learn from it.
And being straightforward is just his style. If you pussyfoot around with your advice like I like to do, people are less likely to listen to you. The upside to my general style is that you can laugh at people without then getting mad, since they don’t understand you. And you get really, really good at asking questions. Especially questions that people don’t want to answer, now you can ask them in ways that don’t seem as threatening. So much personal information. Andy Lam would be proud. Not to mention if you ever say something really stupid, it’s not too hard to divert and distract to make up for it. Can’t really be too sure with that Scamp there! I also like to go way off into really abstract land, so that suits my style as well. But sometimes you gotta mix it up, so you just punch them right in the nose with your advice and it’ll catch them off-guard since you’re supposed to dance around and the surprise will entice them to listen to you. but yah, i dont see where the negativity is coming from. Tanaka told me that I have improved a lot from my humble beginnings, and IMO, it was because I am humble (outside of my unbeatable record vs randy lew) that I am eager to learn and ask questions to maximize my team.
We all can improve I just need someone to practice with for several hours as he ridicules my mistakes. After that i’ll come out as a champion. much like ryan’s top tier 3rd strike play.
