I’m a South Davis kid. Go Sterling. Woo hoo. Riots are fun.
You’re not a scrub, Scamp. You’re super-pro… its just that May isn’t making the most out of your uber-skills.
I, on the other hand, am still a scrub. I’m just incredibly lucky. I lucked out against Randy for 2nd, and about a month ago, I got lucky against that Spirit Juice guy for 3rd. If you watched the final, you would’ve seen that there’s a HUGE disparity in skill level between Tanaka and me. One day, I’ll be uber-good, but for now, I am still scrub-extraordinaire.
A team tournament sounds like lots of fun (it’d be even more fun if I could attend… Sunday night tourneys, anyone? =D)
The funny thing about May is that I really don’t have much of a problem fighting against the top tiers. Slayer, Millia, Eddie, Faust, Sol…not so bad. Also Johnny, Jam, Baiken, Venom, I-no, Chipp, another May…and of course Anji and Zappa.
The problem lies with everyone else. Axl, Bridget, Testament, and Dizzy. Am I forgetting someone? Oh yes, Ky.
Quite honestly, I have no idea why these characters give me problems while some of the others don’t as much. Theoretically, I should be losing all day to Millia and I-no.
I think I have the skill, but not the execution. I still can’t do May’s one good combo.
scamp the only reason you’re not getting owned by i-no is because i’m the only one who ever picks i-no in davis and i actually still suck with her.
PS after the 5/26 week i should be able to play some tourney as i’ll be less busy… although that’s like just 1 week before the final :bluu: but of course i’ll come back being worse than ever before since i would have not played for a whole month by then. suggestion for all: never take 4 engineering classes in one quarter.
Steve, I think you have a solid game of what to do and what not. You really just need to widen your mind games and use more tactics for different situations. That goes for all who want to up their gaming. You need to really analyze yourself and think what is the best thing I could do when the oppenent does something.
I think sometimes when we are learning, we find a routine to follow and we limit ourselves to that routine when it works. Steve, I see that you use a bag of tricks on people and you don’t seem to be thinking about their potential options. The only thing that you are good at aniticipating is your anti-air strikes. Take some time to really break down the engine of the game and figure out how to counter opponents when they do something you can anticipate. Try new stuff a lot and see what happens. You too Jacob.
I’ve also noticed that I seem to be falling in a success-trap, and the last week was a big wake-up call (considering that I was losing a bit more matches).
Is there anyway we can video-capture our tourney matches? I think that would be awesome. It’d definitely give everyone a chance to reflect on their mistakes a bit more indepth, etc.
Just ask Reno Crew to give you advice! Me and Rob (I dunno who else is going at this point) will be showing up for your next weekly, because we’re all off work. I might stay the night down in Davis/Sac, if I can get a place to sleep. Let the madness begin! Oh, and I won’t use Slayer. ^_~
My Korean drinks like a horse…no one can beat him.
Andy has completed the mentor/student circle. Teaching him S groove was the best thing i could have done in life…now he owns me for free. I can die happily, in peace.
Damn. Steve, I hope you cried after reading that. Tanaka is the most cold-blooded man, EVAR!
Cold-blooded…maybe. I just tell people how it is, ALWAYS. One thing you can always count on me for is to tell you the truth or how I feel.
I do not and will not baby to people’s needs and tell them what they want to hear.
ESPECIALLY to women.
They get enough of that crap talking to their girlfreinds. Fuck that! Some women have the most fucked up sense of realism because they let all the bullshit that their freinds tell them become their reality.
So Steve, if you are a woman, don’t be offended by what I say, I’m only trying to help. Haha.
I wasn’t offended at all. Its the truth. I’m anti-air oriented. I’ve always been drawn to characters who have solid, easy anti-air.
But yeah, mind-games… progress is slow, but one day, I be really tricky. I swear.
And your Slayer isn’t garbage, Jacob. Jason’s Sol is questionable (he needs to use the freakin’ uppercut.). Jason’s just kinda irritating to play because he overreacts to everything. Well, it also makes the matches really interesting, I guess.
