Losing your ID card the day you want to check out the ARC for the first time is evil. :frowning: Maybe I can get away with saying that my ID card is pending activation for the rest of the quarter until I find it…

NEW FORMAT FOR TEAM TOURNAMENT

$3 is asking a lot for the use of only one character and only one ratio isn’t it? Andy mentioned what I overlooked in this team attempt. So a reformat is in order.

2-MAN TEAM TOURNAMENT:
*$2 entry each person
*2 members, each getting to choose their own full set of characters
*Double elim, 2/3 [One member plays first, if he wins, he stays on to play the second member of the opposing team]

discuss! is this format better? yes? no? why?

Lews, it would be great if we can use your vid camcorder, please respond.

Yeayea, better than 3-person format, as its more fair for out-of-towners and whatnot.

2-team good. 1st person stay on, not.

I say, 2-teams, preset, disclosed grooves and ratios, as to prevent countering grooves/ratios. Also, 1st player of team A faces 1st player of team B, and 2nd player of team A plays 2nd player of team B. If A or B wins both, they are the respective winner, if not, then the two winners play for that victoly.

Being 1st or 2nd player will be randomly decided by dice roll. This is adds to randomness.

Best of one matches, though I think we can have pool play, dependant on # of entries. If small enough, round robin, if decent sized, then we can split the teams, semi-randomly, into at least 2 pools.

Last minute, I know, but its worth a try.

new format = better

best of 1.

win is me.

Or another idea could be to still do kof style battle except w/ 2 on 2. Each person getting a character and being ratio 2. best 2/3. Because if you did 3 on 3 battle then one person is going to get the R2 making it unfair for the other 2 people only getting R1 and still paying a dollar. I think this way would truly be more interesting cause it’s still more of a team effort IMO. This way it’s not neccisarily one person carrying the team.

Another last minute idea…

I just came back from the ARC, and wow…that place is huge, and it’s like a deluxe 24-Fitness gym with free membership. They even have a computer lounge and a clothing shop. 0_0

Who knew that God would create so many 4’7 adult Asian girls? Hm, what does he have against us.

Um, um, um…I’M GONNA TAKE TOP 4 IN GGXX TOMORROW AND IF I DON’T THIS WEEK, I SURELY WILL NEXT WEEK.

Nathan/Jacob/Sol Scrub #43 = Team last place? I’ll seriously enter CvS2 again just for the gimmick.

oy, let the asian girl chit chat commence.:frowning:

anyone wanna buy a chipped ps2??? has a dms3 chip in it plus a broadband adapter for 250- 300 bux.

I shall be there tomorrow to crush your hopes and dreams.

Kid Killa Crew shall be incomplete tomorrow! :frowning:

New GGXX team tournament.

Kid Killa Crew (Scamp, Clifford, myself) vs. Team KID (Simon and his two friends).

I leave the KID to stand for something Andy can make up.

Ahaha, my scrubby Eddie forward+HS loop dominated Davis today…and it was good.

Scott, I can simply bribe Tanaka to put my name faaaaar away from yours in the brackets…so there.

And Simon can’t come to the tournament tomorrow, but rest assured…Lust Shaker AND Relaunch mixup is the latest trend in a kid’s arsenal.

Final Format

Tomorrow we are running the 2-man team tournament. Each member gets their own choice of groove and ensamble of characters. Team 1’s first player plays team 2’s first player…whomever wins, stays on to fight the second player of the opposing team. All grooves and characters will be disclosed to Tanaka and myself during sign-ups. Entry is $2 per person, winners take all. Round-robin or double elim will be dependent on number of participants.

May 12th’s Tournament
Regular single’s tournament. $1 entry, winner take all.

May 19th’s Tournament
2-man team tournament. Each member will be on one team consisting of two Ratio 2’s. Team order will not be predetermined unless they had just won the previous match. 2 out of 3 double elim.

May 26th’s Tournament
Regular single’s tournament. $ 1 entry, winner take all.

May 29th’s Tournament
DAVIS MONTHLY
$5 entry fee per game
65/25/10

We will sample both different types of team tournaments and get a consensus from everyone as to which one is easier to run, more fun, total disaster, etc. We don’t have enough heads for 3v3.

The 2 dollar entry is for a fair, more even payout for the winners. It would be comparable to the payout of a singles tournament for each player.

Randy! we need your camera plz make it happen.

reno vs. davis gogogo

Boo on set tourney format. Either way, we should discuss this at the tourney, with the people who have signed up by 6pm. I don’t wanna do a team tourney, if not many people are interested, like me. I’m indifferent about it. I really don’t like the format of player 1 plays other player 1, and winner takes on player 2. I’d much rather have 1 play 1 and 2 play 2, randomly chosen.

KID = K.ings I.n D.avis

4’ 7" asian girls nothing. Let’s bring back all the talk about 5’ 6" asian guys, and have every other asian guy say they are 5’ 7". HAHAHHAA, that was the bestest.

Your method will take away the possibility of one man victory…

What does this all mean for me, who is going to show up for the tournament an hour late?

And this is yet another argument in favor of console tournaments. If we were playing CvS2 on console, we could just do the 3 on 3 mode. No ratios to bother us.

Cuz in the other format, it seems to me the R2 is too much, like Tanaka said. Except maybe in A-groove, but I don’t use A-groove.

How about for a tourney idea it’s teams of three or maybe two, and everyone gets a R4 character. Simple, easy.

And then you could do something wacky like every time you win you have to go down a ratio. So if you beat the first guy on your next match you pick a R3 and a R1, and put the R3 up first. If you lose with the R3, then you’re out and your opponent now has a R3 against the next member of your team.

Too wacky?

If I get teamed up with someone, I’d prefer it to be someone good. I can’t beat most of the people that enter the CvS2 tournaments, so I’ll need to piggyback on someone good, just like Ohnuki and Tokido!

…man I hope Japanese don’t read this thread.

Oh yeah, what about team tournaments for GGXX and 3S?

We should definately have 3 man team tournaments for GGXX…it’d be refreshing to play as a team for once. I support the idea.

Dont even bother…the characters are unbalanced that way

shut up Ryan…your asian input adds nothing to this thread that isn’t fulfilled by higher asians. :frowning: :(:frowning:

But yeah, I say no on the console tourney idea, I think they are lame, but whatever Im only around a little longer. I think this format is better than the team format, but I dont understand the point of saying characters and groove. I’ve always felt that if someone trys to use a counter character, then u should just try to use a counter character back. It just adds more strategy.
