Hey, its Will. Great tourney. Seeing a bunch of great players made up for the fact that I got tore up. I should start going to more tourneys.

OoOoOO… Looks like I’m BAcK IN ACtION, BrINGIn DA Ice TO COoL DOWN the HEAT…! CAlIEnTE NE wAYZ… CHAN Man U BeTTEr TAKe GGXX oR Your CUT…! LIKe TO tHANk TOnY for EveN ConSiderinG and PUtTIn Me on teh MvC 2 ROSTER. THanKS a BUnCH WOn’t DIs A Point THe TEAM!! WEll TImE fOR SOME OLD SchOOL TrAINIng, LonG LIVe DOOM BlaCKHEART!

just my take on this subject;

learning 2 characters is a double-edged sword in ggxx. while one way, i gain character-understanding and shit; the other side is that since each character is so unique, it requires enough time that i could be using for my main. i know the amount of time i put into my random other characters doesn’t compare to my slayer, but still… it’s enough and what not. ;o but do whatever you want; i find playing about 4 characters to be great fun, and keep the game intresting.

Man, that’s old school!

Yea, I had to miss the tourney. My crazy party ended around 4:30 AM, and I ended up in Ryerson. I couldn’t turn down a cute girl in bed and a DC meal from my cousin. :stuck_out_tongue:

i tend to use slayer only during tournament, and ~7 other characters during casual.

then i fuck up every single combo i attempt, blame it on the sticks, and go home crying.

good luck.

yea it seems like the time put can be used 2 make the main char better. well, i guess itz nice 2 learn a 2nd char just 2 keep interest. seriously, u have like 8 chars or sumthing. i just have faust and still in the process of learning all that crap in ggxx. i dont even kno wat half the moves look like!!! like i dunno if a person is hitting high or low until i get hit by it a couple of times. im use 2 fighting the regular chars like sol and johnny cuz they’re being used. stuff like zappa will confuse the crap out of me.

WTF Ricky won all 4 games!? weak…

Wow. Ricky practically cleaned house at Davis yesterday. Congrats to him. Who did he use in GGXX, by the way?

what were characters/grooves used for CvS2/MvC2??

it’s pretty essential in ggxx to play each character to get a general understanding for them; otherwise it’s so difficult to even play the game. trying to figure out zappa’s like… 7 overheads will give people head-aches in the middle of a match, unless they understand what each overhead is, and how fast/what it’s used for… i guess the best way is just to play the game, try characters and mess around; that’s all i did to get my casual characters.

he used bridget, sol, baiken.

haha

not weak…Top Tier Goodness…
Thanks so much to Sacramento, Salinas, Reno, 510, and anyone else I missed for coming out.
No one can beat the 2 hrs of Freeplay gaming afterwards!

Next tournament is this Wednesday…$1 entry, winner take all.

Xaero, i see you changed your avatar again…

i wanna aim 2 be the best in ggxx…soooo all yall ggxx players…expect a stronger turtling ron lew w/ faust powers…if i wear a paper bag, will that make me stronger?

well, that is if im going 2 the tourney this wed.
btw, it seems like the mvc2 turnout is diminishing.

here’s a question of thought: in games like cvs2 and ggxx where counter, supers (and the variant roman cancels): do u guys try 2 save the super bar for supers or for other stuff? in games like cvs2, i can understand a counter can get that rushdown chun li off ur crotch but then u’ll need 2 build ur bar up again. in ggxx, frc and rc r hella important 4 damage yet a counter can get a sol off u 4 a lil bit. well, i kno payaso will say that he doesnt counter cuz kgroove cannot.

BURST question: when do u use it??? usually it gets used during a damage combo in most cases. wat bout when the opponent got u down 2 a pixel of life and he/she is at half life? do u use it and try 2 win the round or do u save it 4 the next round.

even if it does or does not… do it anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

whats up guy

Scamp…I need the PS2 back.

paper bag will make u infinitely stronger. just look at the faust in SBO ! if only he wore the bag while playing too …

rickys chun li = :open_mouth: !!!

i stole the title of cvs2 CHAMP for a brief moment… only to have it cruelly reclaimed by danny a few hours later ;____;.

Ryan: I can get it back to you on monday night. Find me on AIM, thanks for letting me borrow it.

Ron: Sometimes I try to save the super bar and sometimes I just need some breathing room. My problem is that I don’t use the DAA (alpha counter) enough, because May’s defense isn’t so great. It’s nice to have a super ready but what’s the point of holding on to it if I’m trapped in the corner?

But if you want my advice for Faust, I consider Faust's supers to be pretty much ass. The swimming super has a 1/4 chance of doing nothing and usually when you can hit with the super you can also hit with the FRC'd pogo move thingy. His item super can be useful but it's mostly random, obviously. So if you're in the corner or you can put your opponent in the corner, I say go for it.

Bursting is tricky. You'll want to do it if you're in a heavy-damaging combo, that's for sure. And most of the time it's a good idea. However, top players such as ID and Tragic are very good at baiting your burst. Eddie can do a standing punch into an air combo and Faust can do his standing kick. As for using it at the end of the round...it depends on your character. Eddie or Millia should consider it. Faust should probably not. I think most of the top Japanese players would go for it.
Other things to consider, though. Does your opponent have a lot of tension? If so, then you probably shouldn't. I, however, rarely pay that much attention to everything. A negative penalty cost me a match against Eric Chan after the tournament. I didn't even notice I got it.

and I need my DVD back from Ryan.
