I just found out i had two matches last Sat from RickClops…It wouldn’t have mattered anyway as of now my business has started & there is no way for me to have any free time. i would have at least give you guys notice if knew ahead time but still apologize if this cause any inconvenience to my opponents & organizer.

When i signed up for this all i had was a full time job, now i have full time job & business to run. I have an asian wife & kids to feed…So i regret i have to drop out from the HDR tournament…

The thing that really makes his throw gross is that if he has 2 bars, and you tech, then he can punish your whiffed tech attempt with short, rj fadc ultra. Get down that crouch tech/option select throw. Stand teching was the reason I lost to ryu so many times.
Yeah, option select tech is the way to go - it’s the simplest option select in the game.
ALSO, can’t wait until we play this weekend. Waiting 4 weeks while watching other people has made me HUNGRY HUNGRY MIKHAIL.

i disagree riki. everytime i played your adon last week and i crouch tech’d, i got thrown. but when i played you yesterday, i was stand teching and i tech’d the majority of the time. mickey also told me it’s better to stand tech because crouch tech only gives you 1 frame to tech whereas stand tech gives you 3-4.
You can tech a throw by crouching and pressing jab+short. Since you can’t throw from a crouched position, if the other person doesn’t throw you will get a crouching short because of the way that input priority works in this game. The short is less punishable than a whiffed throw animation. However, it still can be baited and punished if you make a pattern of doing it.
Ultimatley just mix in both. Personally, I’d rather get hit with a throw or trade a short than get combod into ultra for trying to tech. I stand tech when I have a good feeling they are trying to throw and crouch tech during block strings. Got this idea from muggish
The biggest plus to stand teching is that you can do it a little earlier than a crouch tech. A crouch tech has to be done during the tech window, after the active frames of their throw. If you’re doing it during a blockstring, you have to make sure that you delay it long enough or else you’ll start the short animation and then get thrown out of it.
There are a lot of counter hit setups that are designed to rape crouch teching though, so you don’t want to get silly with it. As Eman said, sometimes it’s better to eat a throw than risk getting counterhit into ultra. Sometimes, the best option is to not try to tech. It’s all about keeping the other guy on his toes.
Oh, I’ve always been crouch teching I think, didn’t really think of the fact that I was doing it.
I am often surprised by how often SFIV players eat non-command throws when they’re easier to avoid in this game than others.
