TvC Ground Dash Glitch (vid)

This doesnt really change anything, honestly. Some characters can punish things from father away now, and you can make insanely fast ground approaches here and there too, but its hardly safe to try it (you have to comit to two dashes in a row, which may very well get you hit and hard).

I think its a cool thing that you can certainly benifit from being able to perform on a whim, but you wont bust it out more than a couple time a match in most cases (unles you are ptx, you’ll be doing it a lot more probably).

Anyway, we are a group of competitive players here. We take everything as is. Accept this as part of the game because, quite frankly, you have no choice. Liking or disliking something is never a reason to remove something from play. We are pretty lucky with this product overall, because right now its looking like nearly every character in the game is not only a monster, but is really fun to play. Thats just rare. No matter how high a play level you decided to ride with this game, you are going to have fun and see new stuff ALL the time.

Well this shit helped win me a money match today so I can say it’s useful. Couldn’t get in on Soki as Polimar and I was like fuck it, Jimmy-Dash from full screen, caught him way off guard, 70% combo, GG.

I think just being able to throw it out consistently every time in a pressure situation is what’s important. I think it’ll be useful if you can get to that point.

SF4froman can you do a VID doing it on the TVC joystick ? I need to see the motion it doesnt seem to work for me… XD

I also play with the TVC stick. When performing the command, I like to flick the joystick for each command and let it return to neutral(position 5). When performing the last command (9/up-forward) you can’t keep the joystick in that postition for more then a moment(like a thrid of a second) or you’ll jump. You have to flick it to 9 and let it immediatly go back to neutral. Make sure you turn on input display to get a feel for the diagonal. You don’t want to get forward or up while you’re doing it.

haha here you go. I note that I say with the ABC version you “lose control of ABC”, what I mean is that if you mess up when going for abc, you leave yourself even more open than usual.

I was able to consistently do this by dashing, wait a moment/go to neutral, roll the stick from forward to upforward and go to neutral. Ending with upforward and releasing drastically decreased my chances of getting a jump.

Inputs showed as 6669 or 66696.

^ I’m gonna try this method

This technique is good but it is useless if you don’t know what you are doing or haven’t gotten the hang of it. Yet alone doing it to someone who always have their guard up ( prepared for an attack, no matter if they know the tech or not). But over all very good and hopefully can be expanded upon

Oddly enough, I’ve discovered that you can input 44412 to get this same effect backdashing

here’s how I do it with karas.

I try to do the first 66 as slow as I can, with some spacing between them

after the 2 6’s, I do the next motion as 69 really quickly and then let go of the stick. That seems to work more often than not.

Alright, After more practicing I got it.

The most common problem for me was that I wasn’t returning to neutral fast enough after the last 9. (even though I thought I let go of it instantly) , I now know i can do it quicker, and got it pretty consistently,

and what I said about the timing before, for Roll, yeah, It’s all character specific, what i said for roll is right, and more experimenting with zero… for him it’s pretty much 669 as fast as possible considering the natural delay of the hori stick snapping back to neutral.

I have it down very consistent now, Now to maybe start using it matches. Too bad the only matches i’ll be able to play for a while will be online, which’ll probably mess up my timing.

All the people commenting on patching this and other glitches is cracking me up. Roll Cancels didn’t kill CvS2 and Handcuffs didn’t kill SF2.

I’m still having a bit of trouble pulling it off, but I can see it having applications definitely for PTX and Polimar to an extent (given his general slow speed).

clackclackclack-cool!

Food for thought… do you think MvC2 would still be around 10 years later if they patched every little thing? Without the little tricks and unintended techniques, a game is going to get stale faster.

Imagine MvC2 without guard break… or infinites… or unblockable laser.

Imagine 3S without Kara cancels.

Imagine CvS2 without RC (as much as I hate it, I’m still not oblivious to the fact that it made more chars effective).

Sometimes, glitches can turn an otherwise solid game into degenerate crap - like FDC in the original GGX - a game which I love, but FDC totally screws it up. You can argue that crouch cancel in A3 did the same thing, as it turned many combos into ridiculous loop-fests, but it also made more characters effective. Double-edged sword.

Sometimes glitches can break the game completely like the Gambit glitch in MvC2. How about handcuffs or machine reset in SF2?

Sometimes glitches make certain characters more effective (Juggernaut Glitch in MvC2). Sometimes glitches make characters insanely broken (Guile’s SF2 Invisible Throw).

Sometimes glitches end up being integral parts of the game and are actually supported by the developers… you know, like the original 2-1’s (cancels)… or even more recently, Viper’s Seismo/Knuckle cancel (rumored to be a glitch that s-kill fought to keep in).

With all of the things that we have seen in the past decade of high-level competitive play (concerning Evo/B-series), is there really any foundation for patching/banning a double dash?

Unless it stops the game from being played, like the Gambit Glitch or dead body infinites, you can pretty much count on the fact that glitches are and will always be part of the games we play. It’s up to you to learn how to benefit from it, and how to fight against it, instead of just hoping it goes away and complaining about it when you aren’t ready for it.

Yeah I think this stuff adds to the game if anything. I agree with Trag.

I want to play this game. Lawl.

I’m imagining a good game. Am I alone in saying that?

Wow, you actually took the time to make a vid just to show how it’s done. Twice!
Thanks alot, and for the ABC explanation. I’d rep you if I could.

What I would like to see is somone actually doing this super dash during a match.
