Hi.

I have had a lot of time lately and I have been trying to get into video editing.

  1. The first thing I wanted to know is the best way to take an image from a video (lets say AVI) and turn it into a picture (jpeg). I see people on forums do it all the time. Do you need special software for that.

  2. The next thing I wanted to know is how to make a gif. Do I need to have special software? Does the video have to be a special type? (mp4,flv, etc.)

  3. The third, (and I think I know the unfortunate answer to this one) is there a simple way to change one file into another. Like flv to avi, etc?

I could swim to a tech website for answers, but I trust you guys a lot more.

Thanx for anything you can provide.

  1. This program will screencap anything. ANYTHING.

2.You do need some kind of gif capable program. Personally, I use Photoshop, but not everyone has that.

  1. Nothing real simple. In each instance you’d have to look for a program and download the codecs to change files into other types.

I have “photoshop elements.” Is that enough to make gifs?

There are programs that change file-types.

Mediacoder will translate a bunch of shit to other shit. That’s all I know about it… :\
