Translated AE2012 Blanka changes

Electricity combos whiffing is completely character dependent. As long as u know where the elec combos are useful, they are far and away more superior than ball combos, and do more damage/stun. elec combos work very well versus most of the cast, just a couple different matches here and there to learn. And when i say elec combos, i mean the extended ones, like a couple shorts and a jab b4 elec. obviously just jab elec works on all, and frnakly im ok with the damage output of even that combo because of the superior positioning it leads to.

the real shit part, is as the game stands now, several of the characters that elec combos are not very reliable on are also really shitty ball combo character – i.e., balrog/cammy. Hopefully the distance on ball knockdown is far enough to make it more useful in those matches in 2012.

Honostly, between low short elec, stand jab elec, neutral strong jab elec, and various jump in combos, I dont think blanka needs many extended, non super/ultra combos. As i am practicing the ultra combos, the plinking is making it much more viable, so i think if one wants damage, one goes for ultra combos, but if one wants reliability/some damage/and positioning, i go for short elec combos. One thing I do, that nobody else does, is fadc my elec combos on hit. The followup possiblities are endless, I have even devised several setups for ambiguous wakeup shorts into ultra combos. ultra plinking is blowing my mind away.

ves: even though i beat dagger, i think it was more of an off night for him, and AE really really hates him. I’m more proud of the yun victory, and even that was sorta sloppy. So im just a random blanka that if I do anything right, its knowing how to abuse the fuk outta electricity.

I’ve seen T SRAI do extended ball combos vs Cammy because it’s safe against Ultra.

The big thing with ball combos too is that if you drop the link you are screwed. Drop an elec combo and you’re +10, or you might even get a reset if the dude is mashing. WOOH.

I’ve been using this when I’m close to getting a dizzy and am stun counting, it’s pretty solid. I don’t have a lot of setups though(wink wink). I’ve also used it for when I do full screen elec vs. sim so if I catch a limb, I have an option select FADC built in to rush him down.

you know your stuff and don’t do stupid hops. Don’t undersell yourself.

Safeballs to bait “punishes” is actually ridiculously smart. I don’t think there is any other move in the game where you can reliably do this with, and I think safeballs are still somewhat underused. I get a lot of mileage vs. characters especially when I’m down. Bait, ultra, GG

god i gotta bait safeballs more. Im just so infatuated with blanka fp crossups, elec setups, and now ultra combos. Ugh, basics…basics…basics…

The only thing I’m worried about when I do safeball is that I only do safeballs, combos to super, or I FADC frame trap with level 2 focus. I think eventually people are going to catch on to this. Though I guess FADCing balls on hit won’t happen too much. I lost one of my easy dizzy traps on Guile though I think.

i don’t say it’s a bad buff. it’s actually pretty good. but safe blanka ball on hit would’ve mean a buff on the same level as ex upball

whoa… wait a minute… makoto, claw and cammy free? no way they become free. maybe more even out but not free. there is only one who is truly free and that’s torsten hawk.

Ok I was thinking of safe jum set ups off of fp blanka balls knockdown fadc into river run. That should set me up perfect range for safe jump set ups or ultra 1 ambiguous set ups. A blanka semi vortex will be possible vs any charActer you can unblockable! Back throw rog then dash into j.mk unblockable>c.lk2x>s.lp>hp.blanka ball for the juggle state blowback/knockdown>fadc into river run to get the hard knockdown. Then use any safe jump or hp blanka ball cross up on wake up to knock them down again.

I will name it the DOGtex!!! LOL

I like unblockable to sweep now against boxer when I’m way down in life. It doesn’t do great damage, but gives you plenty of time for a safejump. It also does great if he tries to reversal ex rush punch cause the sweep will tag those still.

Well ex up was nerfed more, 5 fr recovery, so fully punishable. Not good since they think he is strong enough to warrant a nerf. I know this discussion was had, and it should be punishable, so I guess its not too bad, just hate to see any nerfs.

Akuma : again big nerf lol… and Viper too seems to received big nerfs.

Max punishes all day, so you better guess right. unlike a wakeup srk, which doesnt require EX, and can fadc into mega damage or safety, and probably has less recovery now.

Risk/reward is altered again, so lets hope these knockdowns CAN be followed up for more damage, or else its not very scary for them to continue pressure.

Lets also hope this -5 nerf is only ON BLOCK.

Another note, us blanka players need to STOP rejoicing before the game is even released, if anything it might encourage or draw attention/reason for further nerfs.

ex upball doesn’t convert to anything.

I think i noticed it on hit before, I think this change was already in as I saw people missing their safejumps after aa exupball.
