I agree, however most collectors have a certain aesthetic that they want it to line up with. Sunsurge is no slouch by any means, but if you are looking for “Stepped out the TV” accurate, Takara has the edge.From the lighting it looks like the paint color has more of a sun gold instead of yellow.
It’s also got the ability to look like a normal Countach.
Even though the 84-85 lineup was mainly filled with the seekers as the spotlight characters, it’s time to move on. The following are must haves for G1 MP-
Reflector
Constructions
Insecticons
Galvatron
Cyclonus
Scourge
Blitzwing
The first 3 are more likely since thier repaint potential is readily visible.
Galvatron, Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Constructions, Stunticons, Predacons, and Combaticons should all be in the MP line.
Thunderwing, Bludgeon, and Jhiaxus too.
The last three don’t have that same mass marketability, but could see them as worthy additions. I’d love to have the Predacons, but don’t see them as G1 stop gap for the MP line. Takara needs to tackle all of the S1 characters, sprinkle in some of others in the process. I definitely see Astrotrain as part of that list of G1 characters to complete the set.

Seriously debating if I want to continue with the US set now. With it sitting at about $155 (JPY to USD conversion), that means US Seller price will be around $200. Given that it’s a TakaraTomy mall exclusive, you won’t see it on the import sites. Sans shipping cost, the Legends Godbomber and the BBTS Magnus Prime has me sitting at about $150 total. I know I can sell the other figures out of the set without taking a loss or make a small amount of profit. That’ll at least put me at about 90 for the pair. I’m just afraid that the blues when paired may not match. No word at the moment if there will be a US release of Godbomber (Apex Armor).

I totally forgot about her and Airrazor. The proportions may be a challenge there.
While the figure looks good, the height gap between Trypticon and Metroplex is painful to look at.
