G1 kid here. Never cared for Beast Wars. For one, i’ve always enjoyed cel-style animation. Even the best 3D cartoons still look kinda ugly to me, and Beast Wars was a 3D cartoon…from 1996!! So yeah. They at least deserve props for being willing to try new things, in a time when having an all-CGI show was still a recent thing.
Secondly, not enough variety. I love Beast TFers, like the G1 Terrorcons and Predacons. But also LOVE my vehical-based bots. A show with only animal TFers? And since we’ve yet to have another show with exclusively animal-bots since then, i think that’s saying something as to what the fandom ultimately prefers. Beasts AND vehicle bots co-existing.
Third, they were mostly ummm “organic” looking animals too. Sorry but i loved the “robot-animal” look from G1 too much. The ways they looked in BW just didn’t look right. Yes, even with the “transmetal” stuff.
I knew this was gonna happen. I am in the weird group that actually likes this mold. I sorta wish I would have gotten this release vs. Road Rage, but hey, it’s an MP Decepticon.
Price has since been lowered to 89.99. I want it, but not that bad. I’d bit if it were in the $70 range. Sad thing is, there will probably be a KO version of this thing at about $40 at some point with rubber tires LOL.
Are any of you guys picky about rubber tires on the MP figures. I thought I would be, but since most of my collection is in robot mode, it doesn’t bother me. One less thing to worry about dry rotting in a few years.
Is it just me, or am I the only person more excited about the Beast Wars MPs than what is upcoming for G1? G1 is The Truth, but Beast Wars is my childhood. I can’t wait to have the whole cast lined up for display. They just need to do Season 1 and call it a day
