Transformers Thread

MP Megatron has to happen. If there is any MP figure that needed a remold, that’s the one. Honestly if that happens, and it’s worth a damn, I’d grab it.

wheeljack looks great, the white crotch actually looks better than the original black.

does anybody actually still like the old g1 toys from a design perspective? cause that g1 predaking is ugly as hell. why not just get a mmc rex?

mp jazz would be a huge interest, maybe even enough to buy a tf again after 20 some years. it actually might be worth it as well with the good looking chinese mp ko’s coming out. these guys are def worth 30 bucks, and the bigger mps are worth a good 50 imo if they are takara perfect or better.

I usually just buy select Classics/Gen figures; Im more of a casual collector than you guys.
Yes, the 3rd party figures look great , but for 100 a figure or whatever is a bit much lol.

I got that predaking mainly b/c I never had a full combiner as a kid and the price was super cheap.
Also of all the G1 combiners, IMO He still looks neat in combined mode. It’s really the small details , like the gold color, height, wings, etc that make it shine.

QFT

$50 nostalgia accurate Predaking > $450+ super articulate awesome reformatted Not-Predaking

even being 150% cooler doesn’t cover that x10 price gap.

ok i gotta agree with you on that. they were asking retarded prices like 250 for pred. for 50 bucks hes actually worth having for nostalgia reasons alone.

and i have the same sad truth you do, i have never owned a complete combiner as a child :frowning: . what’s funny is i had a huge tf collection as a child, most of g1 and a lot of rare tf toys. i still own some of them, though most in pieces and not complete, lol (example, prime missing his gun, 1 hand and possibly trailer). i couldn’t give a fuck about the toys in my addic, but it still bugs me to never have owned more than 3 members of a single combiner team.

hence owning a good looking 3p combiner would be sweet, mmc pred, warbatron and green giant actually look good, but fuck that pricing. plastic is cheap, no reason tf’s should be expensive. that being said i could get tfc shit for cheap from a chinese connect, but their products look like shit. lets hope takara bring out an official combiner (brut, easiest combiner to make probably), a chine ko of that for cheaps would be worth it.

It will… someday… I hope lol

I can get into that, it can get pricey.
At this point (in terms of Transformers) I’m just getting the MP line (Mostly Decepticons only), if some 3rd party is MP comparable I might cave in.
Quakewave is a great example and it was for a reasonable price.

Speaking of Fans Toys, rumors say that the MP not-Slag will get separate releases.
A cartoon colored version first and after a toy and a comic accurate colored version.

mp megatron is ugly as hell. his gun mode is bs, who the fuck cares about the gun mode (seriously, who would have him in gun mode?). i really couldn’t care less how much they fuck up his gun mode, why the fuck did they decide to go for pefect gun mode and have HUGE sacrifices on bot mode. megatron should be a huge, buff tf not to be fucked with. not this annorexic bitchmade tf the mp and g1 version are. that being said, they also REALLY fucked up mp grims upper legs and sword hand to a lesser degree (do we really need sounds and/or lights with mp figures, no, it lessens their quality and value, no batteries in the mp line hastak hoe’s).

they try to make perfect grade mp line tf’s and fuck up some of the most basic shit about the figures.

mp’s done right, seekers, sw, prime and g1 cars. almost done right, grim. ugly, hot rod, fucking bs tier, megatron. they seriously fucked up the boss of all tf’s. if only his robot mode was similar to dieks av. i cant stand bitchy megs.

I wish they’d just say fuck an alt mode for MP Megatron.

IMO Grimlock is one of the most accurate overall out of the MP releases. Hot Rod could have been better for sure. There is no excuse for the Abomination known as Megatron

yeahgrim is great for sure, does he have lesser aspects ti him, i feel he does. biggest drawback are the skinny upper legs and the crotch to a lesser degree. the sword hand is bs, the gorilla arms could have been better and lower for the shoulders. i know some praised it, but i don’t like the way the tail goes inside the lower legs. the old g1 style was MUCH better. these things aside hes very true in both his forms, only small gripes are from his bot mode.

also i dont like the small openings on the g1 car bots, like when you look at the lower legs from the back. theres more but gotta go.

MP ActionMaster Megatron FTW

although he wouldn’t be more than meets the eye…

But seriously, I wonder how many TFs could be marketed as MP actionmasters and sell well with 80’s Anime dimensioned robot modes alone.

I finally got my hands on Metroplex. Sure it’s incredible in robot mode, and carrier mode is cool I guess. City mode just seems…underdeveloped. Once I got over the whole “omg Metroplex” feeling, the design flaws/laziness really became obvious. Only one arm has a turret, but it has to be awkwardly held all the way out for it to look normal-ish. Why couldn’t this be done with both arms for full frontal gun death action? If they put the gunner station in the front of the arm it would look a bit more flush in carrier/city modes, ya know? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I really like the toy, but the overall design was a little sloppy. They probably had to simplify it to keep costs down.
Fort Max is still the premiere example of what a city-former should look like: cohesive, compact, gives a sense of scale, lots of little features, and totally sick ramps all over the place!

Slap a Reprolabels set on it, then you can get more stickers LOL

maximus bot mode looks like shit, new plex just looks cheap, not what you’d expect seeing the price.

not really a complaint, but old g1 cars had rubber tires AND die cast. i don’t remember but did the wheels even have springs? thy were sold for a 1/4 of the price of these new mp’s. for the scale they are selling these mp cars and the materials they are using, they shouldn’t be able to ask for more than 30 bucks a car. tey would still make a huge profit at that price point. better to buy ko’s imo.

You’re fucking insane if you think the MPs and the old G1 toys are comparable.

I just beat Fall of Cybertron and it’s got me all hyped up. What are the best formers from the Cybertron games?

IMO the FOC toys range from meh to solid.

IMO , I think the following 3 molds are worth getting
(I dont know what characters you like so take this with a grain of salt)

1)Deluxe FOC Thundercracker and or Starscream (and upcoming Skywarp in 1-2 months)

Straightforward transformation, but cool alt mode. Great lightpiping . I think Thundercracker looks better than Scream.
Whats neat about this is Hasbro doing all 3 main seekers and selling them within 1 year.

**2) Voyager FOC Blaster/Soundwave/Soundblaster **

I got the Blaster version. Solid all around toy. The disc shooting gimmick is ok, but the Steeljaw toy is below the other disc formers IMO. (Its a slight remold of the Ravage disc)

**3)Deluxe FOC Shockwave. **

Small, but cool toy. This is not the definite Shockwave toy but I liked it.

The FOC Combaticons and their repainted Wrecker forms make up about 1/2 of the FOC line, but their regular colors suck IMO and as a combiner I didnt care for it too much.
Onslaught looks bad in truck mode regardless of color. The others are just ok. I cant recommend getting all of them, maybe 1 or 2 if you liked the futuristic alt mode.
Swindle seems to be the most liked, but the regular colors are yucky. I’m probably going to get the Japanese Swindle one day since I love the character.

im talking bout the car bots. The size difference isnt that big and the old toys actually used die cast. With todays tech do you think these toys are hard to make? And they use mostly plastic on these which is dirt cheap. How is it justfyable for the mp cars to be 4x as expensive compared to the old toys? 30 bucks would have been fair price for these, 40 at most.

I thought there was a general cost of goods increase with all toys, which was also shown when Marvel stopped doing the build-a-bonus-character stuff for a while.

Generally, people overly caring about prices on what other people charge for stuff are a little weird. The people setting prices are highly incented to sell you as much as possible and economically viable.

so you mean to tell me they don’t sell this shit at the highest pricepoint that people are willing to pay for? if they could ask 200 for the 10 dollar toys and it would sell, they would have done so.
