I know I’ll have him eventually, just really wanting him.
I dunno how many times I almost bit on the jp version, but when the us version was announced, I just decided to wait.
Now he’s here and I just want to give him a home

Transformers (Yes THE TRANSFORMERS) will be back on The Hub when it launches
“Transformers - Generation 1”
The iconic '80s TV series, “Transformers - Generation 1,” which launched the global Transformers entertainment franchise, introduces audiences to the Transformers, sentient robotic beings from Cybertron who crash land on Earth and are divided into two opposing factions, the Autobots and Decepticons. Produced by Marvel Productions and Sunbow Productions.
The Hub is a joint venture of Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc., and will be available to 60 million U.S. cable and satellite households upon launch. The acquisitions will join The Hub’s previously announced robust schedule of Hub Original Series and U.S. Premiere series, and will offer kids and their families, an array of choices across the network’s planned programming blocks: Pre-school (ages 2-5; 9am - 1pm); Kids Afternoon/Kids Prime (ages 6-12; 1pm -6pm); Kids and Family Prime Access (6pm - 7pm); and Kids and Family Prime (7pm - 11pm).

the Hub… so that’s what all of those little sticker ads on my recent purchased Transformer toy packagings are.
I can’t help but wonder if your comparing this to recent times with Masterpiece Skywarp. What with the way he was overstocked and warming the shelves of many a wal-mart for a LOOOOOOONG time at the $30 pricepoint.
Its just not the same. No offense to a classic character, but Starscream is just far more popular and in higher demand. Even if he had been high stocked like Skywarp, character popularity, low clearance prices, and bitch scalpers probably would have still made him scarce.
Now we have a MP release of Grimlock, another character with comparatively High popularity. And like previous U.S MP releases, i highly doubt he will remain at the $70 pricepoint for long before clearanced to lower prices. Places like wal-mart just seem to be impatient when it comes to figures at that pricepoint not selling as expected, so before long he WILL get a pricedrop, and unless stocked in higher quantities like Skywarp, will go the way of starscream.
Even then i’d argue Skywarp’s lesser popularity among fans also contributed much to his staying power on the shelves at that low price. Had this just been another rerelease of MP starscream, all those units warming wal-mart shelves would have been long gone months ago.
Speaking of which, i finally caved after months and MONTHS of passing him by, and bought the LAST MP Skywarp($30) at my local wal-mart yesterday. Had it been screamer i would never have had anywhere remotely near that kinda time to make up my mind lol.
think dk was pointing out that he’s a tru exclusive. and aside from the soundwave reissue they did a couple years back, they’ve always produced extremely high quantities.
that and tru doesn’t really clearance much. They offer bogo 1/2 off sales every now and then, but clearancing is kinda rare at tru.
Generations Drift is friggin awesome. I initially didn’t want to pick him up, as his mold is going to be used as Blurr sometime down the line, which I thought would be more enticing for me to get. I try and limit the amount of repaint/redecos that I get.
But Drift is so much fun to play with…
Drift is cool, but the only things I dislike about him - and this also applies to ROTF Bludgeon - are the rubbery sword and blades. I’d love it if someone in the repro community would recast his weapons in solid plastic. Fuck child safety laws.
I’m guessing somewhere around 80% of people that buy TF’s aren’t children anyways, lol.
I used to poke myself in the eye all the time as a kid. You know what I did? I drank some milk and I fucking walked that shit off.
For those of you who might be interested, RobotKingdom is currently selling MP Hasbro Grimlock for $69.90

just browsing sites for MP grimlock deals, hit my local import shop up. didn’t have grim, but I saw this:
Transformers Alternity Set Of 3 at Toynk Toys
really nice deal for a bill. I can vouch for the company too.
they’re closed until the 16th (next monday) but I think I’m gonna go pick this set up next week if they honor the online pricing in-store.
save on shipping
Just a heads up for those of you that shop for new TF’s on Kmart’s website:
K-Mart Cancels orders without warning - TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards
There were similar problems reported with Human Alliance Mudflap. And long before that, Cybertron Mode Animated Ratchet (the TRU Exclusive) was listed on their website for whatever reason, only to have everyone’s order cancelled.
Another common problem with Kmart’s online ordering system is that customers will often get the wrong figure(s). For example, if you recently ordered the WFC Soundwave or Megatron on their site, there’s a strong possibility that you’ll get a a random ROTF deluxe instead.
Loads of bullshit here.
Likely either getting my grims tonight or buying tomorrow off a tfw member.
Man, my local dudes are fucking chill there. I need to stop being lazy and post there more often & get to know those guys.
There’s always an advantage to having friends that actively “hunt” for new stuff. I made a couple of friends in the PA sightings thread and I’ve got a guy that hooks me up with figures.
well thanks to their tip, grimmy has a home. he’s really everything I was hoping for minus a bit of what I would have like to have been die-cast.
but he’s really a great fig at $70.
Doesn’t that toy just bring you back? Grimock was one of my first TFs as a kid and there’s something really satisfying about having the modernized large-scale version of that toy. I really appreciate how simple his transformation is for a MP figure too. He’s probably the only MP figure that is *fun *to transform.
Absolutely. Despite all his cool features (and there really are some nice ones), the thing I actually like most about the figure is transforming him. Easiest of the MP series, and definitely one of the most satisfying. I also appreciate how close they were able to keep it to the original transformation process, even though it’s quite a larger scale. Makes me really miss my G1 grimlock now, even more so knowing it’ll likely never see a reissue
sighs Sadly I can’t afford MP Grimlock at this point which means that when I can he’ll cost more than what I could have paid for at retail. Losing my job in May just really set us back further and hurt us harder than we anticipated.
Now that I’m working again, there’s too many bills we have to get caught up on before I can even think of buying some new toys. Feels like I never get a break.
Don’t worry about it dude. This guy will be around through Christmas if they produce like I expect they’ll produce. Between this and the Takara release(s), Grimlock isn’t going to go up too much if at all in price.
Anyway, you’ve got your priorities in order, so you’ll manage just fine and it will feel like more of a reward when you get your hands on him.
Thank you.
However if memory serves me right, doesn’t TRU have a really horrible track record for keeping a steady supply of exclusive be available in stores beyond a mere week? I’m already hearing talk that TRU isn’t getting anymore shipments of MP Grimlock.
