All I’m worried about is whether or not the the Universe line will continue after the big push for ROTF toys. They said it’s going to be on hiatus starting in 2009. But the article didn’t confirm that the line would be resumed after ROTF’s run. Universe has sold well so it’d be dumb on Hasbro’s part to cancel something that’s making them money.

SG88: The newer Universe figures are nice. Galvatron isn’t a favorite of mine, but there are ways you can improve on the figure with some mods here and there.
I would pick up Ironhide, Sideswipe, and Silverstreak. Inferno, Hound, Cyclonus, Henkei Ratchet, Starscream 2.0, and 25th Anniversary Armada Hot Shot look very good too and will be out soon.
I love it, but he needs his gun. That is the only thing that’s missing.
What’s everyones opinion on Animated Grimlock. I finally saw one today @ TRU and picked him up for my son. He loves Grimlock. Any issues with this figure?
The knee joints are kind of weak. They feel like they’re going to snap off at any moment. They’re just too thin. It’d be okay if your son is the type to take care of his toys, but if he expects to throw this guy around, he might be disappointed. But other than that, it’s not a bad figure.
Let’s see… MP Thundercracker, he’s nice, maybe my favorite of the 3, but the pervasive manufacturing error really detracts from him.
Target Universe exclusives…all great, all worthy additions. Dirge and Roadbuster are amazing.
I finally bought a few Animated figures that I was able to integrate into my display without them looking goofy. In short, Magnus rocks, Jazz is overrated, Lockdown is my Classics Deaths Head, and Shockwave is quite versitile.
My fiance got me a G1 Star Saber as a wedding gift. It’s a brilliant toy. Own one before you die.
I got Henkei Ironhide today. He makes the Universe version look stupid and unfinished by comparison.
Oh, I also completed my G1 Dinobots after all these years searching for good specimens. I’m all grown up now!1!
Frenzy_Rumble recently finished his custom Defensor. I’m just going to wait until he posts the auction for it on eBay before linking everyone here (non-TFW2005 members) to the photos.
And while I’m on the customs front, I started work a week and a half ago on this “upgrade kit” for Universe Sideswipe. It includes a missile launcher, rifle, and jetpack. It still needs to be sanded, refined, and painted. I’ll post pics when it’s complete.
Man I’m loving this universe collection. hopefully there will still be some early next year cause I still want to pick up 25th Anniversary Prime, Powerglide, Blaster and Silverbolt at a minimum. Also anyone know how good leader Bulkhead is? the toy looks good (at least in robot mode) is vehicle mode good? Any lose or easily breakable parts on him?
I’m just wondering how do you all do your collection? In box still sealed or out of box.
Me I take them all out of the box and transform them a few times and put them on the shelf. I know a a couple of guys who straight up freak out about taking things out of the box. they are all like “your ruining it” I look at this way. they were made to be played with and transformed and frankly the 10 year old boy in me still loves playing with them. so I’m gonna play with them and then put them on the shelf.
I open them. Some of I still have boxed up, but that’s because I haven’t gotten around to taking them out yet. If it’s a high end collector’s item like MP or a Japanese exclusive, I’ll keep the box.
Meh, I open everything. I don’t understand how people can really enjoy what they’ve bought until they get to actually remove it and see it for themselves.
