Speaking of the '86 movie and music:

Big WTF moment at the end of the clip.

Remember that this was happening after Ultra Magnus got blown the fuck up, who was put back together good as new.

personally i find that the US producers fucked the movie up after the first half of it. the first half was filled with action, good choreography and was just good to watch. the second part was boring as hell and the acxtion got gay as hell as well. none of the fights of the second part where any good IMO. cept the short part of the dinobots fucking up quintesons.

Ultra Magnus had cooler colors too: Diaclone

There was a really cool scene they cut out where Magnus, Arcee, and Springer were getting attacked by the seekers. The animation was really good in the first half despite some coloring issues and goofs that most kids would’ve missed then.

That may be because the first half of the movie involved everyone we loved either kicking ass or getting killed. It was an animated fight on a grand scale that we’ve never really seen before and it was awesome. Then they thrown in all the new characters that Hasbro wanted to sell and they weren’t accepted and loved as they hoped. I still love the movie though.

Does anyone know when ā€œAll Hail Megatronā€ comes out? I really wanna read this series.

my sentiments exactly. first time i saw rod replace prime i hoped the guy who thought of it would die ASAP. i think lots of kids in the 80’s cursed him to die. everybody i knew hated that move. but even if you take that out. part 2 just dies. part one is life. it got boring in the second part. the first part had me glued to the screen back then. shit even if i saw the first part on tv now i would watch it if i didn’t have anything to do or somewhere to go.

What I didn’t understand is why Devastator was the only combiner at the beginning. Like, if you really wanted to fuck up Autobot City, wouldn’t you bring Menasor and Bruticus too? Oh well.

I’d be cool if they did a G1 style movie (perhaps a remake of this)…even if it was straight to DVD.

And Prime’s death didn’t bother me THAT MUCH. Yea, we’re supposed to hate Hot Rod with a passion, but it’s not like Prime got peaced out by Ramjet or Motormaster.

I recall them saying that the movie was animated sometime around the end of the first season/beginning of second season so they didnt exist yet, hence the lack of pretty much all the season 2 characters except the seekers.

I heard the same thing too. It probably took them a year or more to get that movie into production so there was all sorts of characters that didn’t make the necessary appearance that should have? You’d think once seeing Devastator, the Autobot’s would have called for Superion (but then again the Dinobot’s got their asses handled to them so maybe the Arielbot’s wouldn’t fair much better.)?

Not me. I :shake::sad::shake: when that happened. I wasn’t bawling or anything, but it did feel like a part of my childhood just rusted out and went lifeless.

After seeing that short CG-remake of Prime Vs. Meg’s on Hasbro’s site, I’d be standing right there in line with you. Then when it was over, I’d go get back in line again.

I must be the only Transformers fan who preferred Rodimus Prime and thinks Seasons 3 and 4 were the best seasons.

chokes on vomit

nah, they both have their pros and cons (no pun intended), I guess it all comes down to…I dont know…preference?

frank welker did the most irritating voice possible for galvatron, son of a bitch.

Seriously, Optimus was just too perfect. He never made any mistakes and just couldn’t be beaten.

Rodimus was a much better character.

Plus Season 3 was mostly set on Cybertron and Galvatron was brilliant.

You know, little children and the eldery have been known to be trampled to death for uttering such comments.

I stopped watching right the TV show right after the movie. Production quality dropped and the animation was really terrible, and I didn’t like all those weird episodes that involved all the alien types. It was just a completely different show, and without Prime and the others I just lost interest.

Some poor kid locked himself in his room for a week after he witnessed Prime die in the movie, according to an interview on the anniversary dvd.

I was glad that they spared the audience from the typical ā€˜nobody dies’ rule in children’s cartoons. Kids are not stupid, and they know that tons of gunfire should equal getting shot and damaged badly. Of course, seeing Prime turn grey on his deathbed was just heartwrenching.

I got my Takara G1 colored Masterpiece Starscream & new Revoltechs today! Quite happy, how can pieces of plastic bring so much joy?!

:karate:

I’m sure I’ve talked about this before, but…

S1/2 Characters > S3/4 Characters
S1/2 Story < S3/4 Story

As an older TF fan, I can appreciate the depth that self-doubting Rodiums as leader brings to the story…but goddamnit if we didn’t love Optimus, that noble steel cowboy. And losing him to Rodimus, who was a pussy in comparison…well, it was hard to stomach. It felt like breaking up with Jessica Alba and then going out on a date with Jeneane Garofolo.

Also, my primary issue with the movie wasn’t that everyone died, but that they all went out like chumps. It was just another battle, except this time the shots were fatal for some reason. And that’s frustrating, because if you think about it, the attack on Autobot City really had nothing to do with Unicron, at all. Essentially, there’s this huge crisis and a seemingly unstoppable foe, something that sets up the potential for a lot of great heroic sacrifice…but all the deaths happened in something completely unrelated before that. It was obvious that they were just trying to get the old guys off the screen as quickly as possible in order to start pushing the new toys. And then you factor in that the story wasn’t that good and the new characters sucked and…well.

Especially if you look at how Dinobot was handled in Beast Wars, and to a lesser extent, Starscream in Armada. Those deaths meant something because of how the characters were defined and the way they went out - fighting for something. The movie deaths only had impact simply because we just weren’t expecting that shit. TF the Movie now wouldn’t work at all, and everyone would point out how quickly and carelessly the original characters were discarded. …Kind of like 24 S5, which we 24 thread fans dubbed ā€œthe Transformers: The Movieā€ season.

well, in G1 Prime IS a battle hardened veteran, when youve spent Im assuming millions of years fighting an evil army bent on conquering your homeworld you start to know whats up. also, on earth, there are innocent lives in the balance. he cant afford to make mistakes. REAL. TALK.

Galvatron was a fucking spaz.

Nope, Optimus Prime And Rodimus Prime are my faves. I like Rodimus because when he thought he was gonna die he passed the matrix on to Springer!! not some wanna be Prime Ultra Magnus

I like all the seasons of the transformers. But Optimus will always be what you think about when you think about the transformers.

Because this right here is the best thing ever animated:

Rodimus Prime is still my fave though.

I actually liked Ultra Magnus better than Hot Rod/Rodimus.
