Hm. Is G1 Soundwave to scale? I haven’t compared those guys to my MP collection yet.
I got MP Megatron at Kick’s Hobby last night ($150, no orange cap) and he’s OK. I wish he had an alternate face. He’s probably my least favorite of the MP set so far. Kremzeek is probably my favorite part. The Shockwave gun doesn’t even seem to fit in Starscream’s hand… ? Dammit. Oh well. Also, now that I’ve got all of these guys, I’m disappointed that you can’t pivot the Seeker’s heads so that they can look at each other. =\
Any opinions on putting the stickers on Skywarp or not? I still haven’t done it, other than putting his name sticker on the base.
While I agree that G1 Soundwave is one of the best transformer toys, it can definately be improved. It’s tiny compared to the MPs, and it’s not even to scale with real tape deck recorders. Also he doesn’t look like his cartoon incarnation. (red eyes, yellow stripes on the upper sides of his chest) He’s also not as articulated. The MP3 player Soundwave could at least have him pressing on his shoulder button.
The Music Label Soundwave is perfect as part of the Classics line.

I forget who said it, but I think the big issue with the MP’s was licensing - which is why all the MP’s so far have had generic, non-specific ALT modes. So in that case, MP Grimlock makes sense. Unfortunately, it makes the likes of MP Ironhide and Wheeljack somewhat of a pipe dream. :sad:
I’m kind of iffy on MP Grimlock. I like the character, but not enough to spring for a $100 fancy toy. …Maybe that will change when pictures come out though.
MP Soundwave…yeah…there isn’t a whole lot you can do with him. It seems like the Japanese LOVE making these complicated transformations…and MP Soundwave would be pretty straightfoward. I guess the only thing they could do to jazz him up would be to include near-perfect Ravage, Rumble, and Laserbeak, and make him a stereo as well.

If he would be G1 accurate he should be a biggest MP so far, Grimlock even dwarfed Prime & Megs in the series. Then again “Smallscream” comes to mind…

I’m sure they will break to the demands eventually. He may not be to actual scale as a working tape player, but scaled in terms of being a Masterpiece, I think we have hope. G1 SW is a great toy, but perfect?
Azreal - Licensing is what holds back a lot of what gets produced these days. We’ll never see MP’s of older Autobots like Jazz because Porsche doesn’t want their name associated with war toys just like Volkswagon. At least that’s waht everyone claims.
I also think part of the reason has to do with Porsche and VW not wanting images of their product being destroyed. That’s why whenever the Autobots were damaged in the movie, for instance, it was always in bot mode. All the GM vehicles were clean and without battle damage.

I remember the concept art for Sunstreaker/Sideswipe/Octane and I cant WAIT to grab them when released. Did we ever get artwork for Prowl/Onslaught/Powerglide?
And they still need to do that Cosmos figure that was designed before the toyline came out…
Hasbro said that Sunstreaker and Sideswipe would have slightly different transformations. I can’t wait to see them in-person.

Sunstreaker has been designed in such a way that it has two transformation possibilities.
For Sideswipe, the same transformation will be used, but the legs and arms will be adjusted to show the other side. Likewise his head would face the other direction.
This one mold, minus the hands and head will be used for both characters.

Wow, I am digging the Octane concept pic. Although didn’t his G1 incarnation turn into a tank as land vehicle form? I loved the tank, but it’s no biggie…
It’s looking really good with Octane and Onslaught. Definite pick-ups for me along with TFA Prime, Megs, Starscream, and Prowl.
