I’ve been watching G1 cartoon eps on dvd (borrowing a friend’s set) and I am falling in love with TF all over again. (even though I was already in love with tf)
Although there is just so many rediculous aspects about the series, along with the camp-factor, I found myself laughing a whole lot. But I knew I would be doing this. Nostalgia still wins in the end.
Even after so many years, I surprised myself when I would remember certain bits and pieces of scenes and dialogue, that I had forgotten about, but were instantly being remembered again after rewatching. Transformers is the greatest toyline ever.
Now I want to buy even more TFers. 
A few episodes into the first season, the Autobots drive (DRIVE) to Burma. DRIVE?!
Didn’t they do the same thing when they “drove” to the Antarctic in Skyfire’s first episode?
I think so. But it’s funny because methinks Skyfire flew them to Peru a few eps after that.
I just started re-watching G1 and I watched the skyfire episode last night. I thought to myself at the end of it “you have fucking laser guns and flame throwers surely one of you could have melted the newly blasted sure to be loosely packed snow and dig him out.”
but no they all stand around saying “we shale remember him” and that’s it. Nice job really. I think Wheeljack digs him out later but damn they left him under there for months I’m sure.
Also since we are this subject what part of G1 did most of you think was better? Pre movie or post movie.
I liked pre movie better but the somewhat darker storyline of post movie was cool. besides you have to give it props for having Cobra Commander in it. His final scream was epic.

Im gonna get flamed, but I lovethe post movie eps more. Yes, the animation was done by shitty as Korean company AKOM, but there were better stories overall.
One thing I liked about the latter part of season 2/s3 was the space travel and more epic stories.
You guys even SMB have to admit the reptitive nature of Season 1/early2.
Plot: MEgs makes doomsday weapon, autos stop.
Plot2: Megs covet some earth device which happens to make enormous energy, steals, autos defeat, and they retreat to their bases at the end of the ep. Starscream undermines Megs during ep, and the ep ends with a cheesy pun
I also loved the change in music in season 3. the Quintessons while not developed add a new element to the rivalry w/ the decep/auto rivalry.
also , I liked seeing the origins of the TF and more on the beginnings of the Auto/Decep history in some of the eps.
My fav eps were :
Webworld(galvatron in mental institution),
Dark awakening(optimus prime returns as zombie).
Call of primitives(the best animated G1 ep),
forever is a long time coming(time travel yhoung alpha Trion),
Killing Jar,
Burden hardest to bear(Rodimus finally mans up, plus we get to see mutated scourge. shame Ops return negated the effects of this episde ha),
The Ultimate Weapon(metro/Trypticon fight while First aid leaves the autos)
the dweller in the depths(written by batman tas writer paul dini )
**Money is everything **(smuggler guy deceives technobots, Terrorcons)
not to say S3 didnt have annoying stuff. WHEELIE. I dont know how that char was ever approved , really. They tried to make daniel/wheelie into the new spike/bumblebee, but they both needed to be shot.
The horrendous animation /errors, and lack of time for pre-movie chars.
oh and the pussification of the dinobots into comedic relief.
I dont they even transformed in to robot modes at all in Season 3.
Transformers are very bad at detecting the enemy… Laserbeak can fly in, transform into a cassette tape, which then rests on top of an Autobot’s shoulder, and go totally unnoticed. They must have went through the same military course training as the Metal Gear genome soldiers.
well they are robots its not like they can feel a Stealth designed cassette tape. these guys are metal. i find it more hilarious that they shot at each other with tons of lazers as groups and for superior technology missed tons of times.
I’ve said before, Transformers actually stands up against the test of time.
It’s hard for me to pick between pre and post movie. The plots of pre-movie weren’t that good, but the characters were great. The characters post-movie sucked but the plots were awesome.
If only we’d gotten post-movie stories with pre-movie characters. That would have been awesome.
am I the only one who is tired of seeing every TF series written by Simon Furman? give someone else a shot at writing this series for a little bit!
on the other end of the spectrum, I think Alex Milne is quickly becoming my favorite TF artist. E.J. Su is pretty much tied with him. I actually dont like Don Figueroa very much, I dunno, his style doesnt really appeal to me. plus he cant draw humans for shit.

Movie Voyager Prime will be re-released in G1 colors and will be referred to as First Strike Primeunder the “Allspark Power” line
Takara will also release G1 Ratchet and Ironhidein different colors. Ratchet will have his movie style colors (lime green and red), whereas Ironhide will rocking the original Diaclone black.

I mean, the vehicle modes are fine I suppose, but the robot mode is complete garbarge.

You know I am not too big on repaints at all. Don?t get me wrong I am not talking about different paint job = different character but I am talking about different paint job = same character. It just seams cheep to me. So I won?t be getting first strike prime, recon barricade ect?
Personally I?d rather skip encore black ironhide and encore movie Ratchet and get the new encore Ironhide and Ratchet. They have given them the 1 thing they should have had when they first released them. A head.
I’m not big on those figures either, not to say I would mind having them. Just not at the crazy prices. I’d rather just buy a junky one and restore it.

I watched part of an Energron episode with Ironhide in it. I had to keep asking myself, “Why does he sound like a little anime kid?”
At least Movie Ironhide was a badass.

If people here didn’t know this already, I hate repaints. it’s the cheapest fucking way to get your customers to rebuy what they probably already own. Give it a new color and new name - BAM, new toy. Fuck that. That’s why I hate on Hasbro so much. Just look at how many times they’ve repainted every figure in the TF movie line? Night Attack Optimus Prime? Battle Damage Optimus Prime? Are you fucking kidding me?
Unless it’s they make a repaint of someone I must have, is the only way I’ll buy a repaint. They’re lucky they’re producing those new 25th JOE’s otherwise they wouldn’t be getting a penny from me until Alternators returns.
