"Train harder!" - Ibuki Street Fighter V Discussion

It feels like Ibuki is the hardest character for me to grasp in a playing environment. do combos in training is easy but playing online vs the ken army and not having any offline sessions to join is killer. Shes so different from standard to me. But I still wanna play her. anyone have any frame trap resources and safe setup resources for my grind?

Here’s some 3 sec bomb setups midscreen. I wrote stuff in the description to describe the setups. I don’t have a nice video editor to add text in the video and I"m too lazy for that, lol.

I’ve hit a few people with the throw setups for that big comeback win.

Just read and watch the two videos that are in the first post of the Notes/Tech thread. That should get you going.

Xian got it right at fighting cammy with ibuki and leaving fang for other matchups. Imo ibuki has a fenomenal matchup agaisnt her, as well as mika/laura.

Majorboy vs Tokido

Hes starting to play a bit cleaner and jumping less. Tokido appropriately reacts to the dashes with buttons, but Ibukis command dashes are so fast that it seems he can’t always react to them. I also like how he uses the command dash during knockdowns where he doesn’t have to worry about being negative or mash buttons.

The most interesting thing I saw was how many of Ryus buttons he was making whiff with the command dashes. If you get a read on when someone will footsie you can get behind them before their footsie extends and get a whiff punish from behind.

This is probably a dumb question, but what is the best use of Ibuki’s cr.lp? I can’t truly find a use for the button and find myself neglecting it for st.lk. I feel like I’m missing something.

cr.lp combos into a kunai from close, I use it when I want to wakeup with a fast button into v trigger, can’t think of anything else atm,but I’m sure it has other good uses

can confirm easier into s.lp tc if you c.lp first

It is also a decent frame trap to go for cr.lp to s.mk and on hit confirm go for TC. It also combos into s.mk TC on counter hit.

Be aware though that if you go for the frame trap I mentioned and they do a 3 frame jab they will beat you. Also 1 frame grab supers will wreck you when going for this so watch out for that.

Well this happened.

Punish with hk.dp

Yeah I guess he just hasn’t fought enough Birdies to know. Ex raida and super also work. Lk dp is faster but doesn’t have enough range after the pushback.

Yeah some birdie just did that shit to me for a whole match and I was like wtf, had to lab it up. Surprised s.lk doesn’t reach. He tried tho lol

Okay I’m growing real sick of Ibuki’s overhead being grabbable on the last few active frames. Why did Capcom make it this way? For what purpose?

I think all of the overheads have grabbable frames. Its slow so you have to catch people sleeping to land it any way. Its one of the only 2 safe on block overheads (Chuns is almost as slow) so you get a free try and then can guess ex dp if you think they want to frame trap you.

Guys I need help,I’m confused

I’m using this sheet for frame data references.
As you can see, st.HK has 10 startup frame,3 active frames and is +1 on hit,
cr.HP has 9 startup frames,4 active frames and is +2 on hit,
after a fully charged v skill in the corner I dash and then do either of thesose (opponent gets up quickly,no backroll).
st.HK hits on it’s last active frame (I can link st.LP, thus is +3)
magically, cr.HP ALSO hits on its last frame (I can link st.MP,so is +5)
this shouldn’t be possible,is the frame data wrong or I’m getting crazy?
I tested this against a crouching Necalli, meaby it’s just wonky hitboxes?
I don’t know

Not sure what you don’t get. They both hit last active frame because cr.HP is 1F faster than s.HK but has 1 more active frame. Remember that the last startup frame is also the first active frame.

10 + 3 = 13
9 + 4 = 13

Lol

Oh shit, dunno why but i completly forgot that the first active frame is also the last frame of startup lol

I feel ashamed to say it, but I’ am having a lot of fun right now playing Juri
