You guys might want to check out nortued, a top 100 ranked ibuki just for shits and giggles. I’m like 80% sure it’s either a bot or a guy using scripts of some sort, only watched one match but saw this:
Jumped forward out of every one of mikas command grab attempts.
Confirmed st.mk on hit into target combo everytime. On block did an immediate st.lk everytime. When the target combo hit he ALWAYS did a throw as the opponent was landing, the opposing mika broke like 4-5 throws in a row.
He did a CC>super in the corner… Not the hardest thing, but the quality of the match just seemed to not support that kind of move. The thing that really gave it away to me though was never mixing up the throw after the target combo, and the st.mk confirm with 0 fuckups, online… And biggest of all, jumping out of every command grab attempt, but not only once getting hit by a confirm… Which was done at neutral.
Cancel into lk dash to crossunder
Do a delayed lk dash (not a cancel) to stay in front.
A simple but effective mixup. Not super ambiguous if the opponent expects it, but can setup other mixups just cause it requires focus to block correctly, like basically any crossup mixup.
This is a good mixup starter bnb cause it can also lead into the HK command dash juggles, or LP/HP raida oki which gives her a solid 3 mixup options to keep her opponents guessing as to not only the type of mixup they will be encountering, but whether it will be a crossup or throw or shimmy or high etc etc
I’ve been toying with some cc sweep bomb stuff, tell me what you think of this setup and if you can think of a way to make it better:
cc sweep (works for any range) xx bomb,st.MP/LK,dash, dash, f.HK
st.MP setup crosses up,LK doesn’t, smoke cloud covers your landing if done correctly, your st.LP trades with other 3 frame jabs,if you’re crazy you can do a LK kazegiri, trade with a 3 frame jab and combo into st.HP xx ex kunai 2nd bomb, I’m trying to find a meaty bomb with that crossup/not crossup f.HK setup, but can’t find a good way to set it up without doing bomb before the ccc sweep
Why is dash, meaty throw not working after HK Kazekiri (normal recovery)? Tested with meaty st.mk and it works. Both moves have the same startup and active frame (5f/2f). But somehow meaty throw will work if I delay it by 1f.
I personally would still rather go for the 2 kunai reset and just use lk command dash to set up the timing better. With practice im sure ill be close to 100 percent consistent and save a kunai.
I was gonna go over some of the other things my friend went over at Evo. He prefers meaty setups over most of the resets. He also pointed out how the Sako reset is only good midscreen.
Sako reset still works in the corner, but you have to make sure the EX kunai won’t be outside of the screen so it’s spacing dependent. That means you sometimes have to use normal dash because it covers less distance than LK Dash.
The 3 kunai VTrigger combo actually does less damage than the 2 kunai one, so it doesn’t look very good having to spend one more kunai.
Even if they block it, the bomb’s blockstun will let you continue pressure or get away with normal xx MK Dash. The mixup is also very hard to see, so it’s not like they’ll always be blocking it.
True. What I stated was moreso the thoughts of the guy I was talking to at Evo. I did want to test if there was enough block stun to button and safely dash back around if it did get blocked. Its “hard” to block but 50 50 is only 50 50.
If I want to continue pressure I definitely wanna have them in the corner. Screwing up something with your pressure or them just making a good read could have you in the corner for a while instead.
Overall though its a pretty solid tool once you get trigger.
At the end of the day, sako reset with dash LK or regular dash is the better mixup. It keeps the corner carry, you keep the block advantage if they block and people panic and try to block to the other side trying to guess right when they believe they are going to get hit by crossup. Vergil players in tournament almost always use teleport L roundtrick mixups for those reasons.
In the corner wouldn’t it be preferable to go for the instant overhead jump lk instead of the crossup dash? Or would that leave you at disadvantage on block even with the bomb?
Isn’t it the same case as in SF4 that you cannot be thrown for additional one frame after getting up or coming out of hit/stun because it’s a window for the opponent to perform a reversal?
Just found out that Ibuki can kara cancel her st.LK into V trigger, giving here a slight range increase, don’t really see any potential from that tho, but it’s there
