"Train harder!" - Ibuki Street Fighter V Discussion

Yeah, I meant c.mp to F+HK.

Both s.MK and c.MK are V-Trigger cancellable. s.MP is going to be your main counter hit fishing tool, as it’s faster than c.MP.

3-frame jabs will beat you out of strings like s.LP to c.MP, but s.LP to s.MP. On counterhit, you can do c.MK -> Trigger -> DP -> Explode -> Dash -> Ender.

c.MK -> S.HK as a frame trap will crush counter 3-frame normals, even some crouching ones like Chun’s c.LP.

Cammy’s too short and it still whiffs on her.

Every crouching normal? That’s awsome. What would you do if the hk wiffs?

comebragas is her command jump into kunai safe? That could be a good approach mixing in her other tools. And can’t you use her f.hk the same way necalli uses his s.hk?

The Kunai may be safe, but def not possitve on block, so you just lose the initiative.

And the f.hk, ye it’s kinda the same, but Necalli stays close to her opponent while Ibuki doesn’t, and i think the frame data is worse (i may be worng here, pure speculation)

Damn ibuki is difficult for me to play. It feels weird ending combos with kunai instead of tsumuji but I guess you get used to it.

whats the notation for all of this? holy shit thats impressive.

Ok i found a decent way to catch people mashing jabs. The cr.mp f.hk target combo catches 3 frame jabs a gets a crush counter which leads in to a mixup with the command dash. Pretty cool. If you get blocked you lose pressure tho

Won’t be able to practice ibuki for another couple days :frowning:

Sounds like she’s just like her sf4 counterpart…,very hard to figure out, but pretty awesome when she is figured out.

Playing her now will be relying on “fundamentals” when she’s not really a fundamentals only character. She uses fundies to get into advantaged positions and then run mixups… Since the mixups are different here she will be underpowered for at least awhile while her gimmicks and threats and spacings are found out.

I feel like some moves need re-evaluation. Basically, try to find new moves and the way they work. My biggest problem is that half of the time, I’m sitting in the corner and they block all of ibuki’s mix-ups with no pressure added.

Gosh it’s so frustrating bae, but I will keep holding your hand because I care about you so much. ; w ;

After looking back, it’s not that good against crouching normals. I got excited when it blew up Chun’s.

Most people with 3 frame crouch jabs, it whiffs. Karin, Cammy, it whiffs. Occassionally it’ll catch Necalli. But, it blows up Chun’s every time.

Standing 3 frame are is fine, though.

It’s actually a matter of range; things like c.mps will blow up the string.

has there been any talk of the st lp, st mp, cr lk target combo yet? there’s so much new tech going on its hard to keep track… i’ve only been messing around for about an hour or so with just ken as the dummy but on block there’s hardly any push back, but just enough that its outta kens throw range but close enough that its an easy tick throw.

coming from cammy her st lk has been a big topic of discussion recently due how it keeps her close on block to apply her throw pressure and what not. this seems pretty similar. and obviously if the st lp, st mp hit you can confirm into st hp xx whatever. but on block you can go into the cr lk. i don’t know if this is useful or glaringly obvious or not smart, i guess thats why i’m putting it out there, to find out… i’m still kinda new at all of this but i couldn’t let day 1 go by without saying something. i’ve been lurking these boards for years and today seemed like a pretty good day to get in on it.

again if this has been talked about earlier, my bad, it’s been hard juggling the game and the boards todays. but hey, ibukis back!

Any tips on getting in? Her reach feels awful

no different than with any other character. also, ex kunai

I got no idea what to do with her in a match lmao.

And this is also that time of the year when I gape at you guys for being able to come up with all sorts of shit and deep insights within 2 hours of a character coming out. I’ve barely figured out what normal strings into what special lol.

Here’s what I’m currently tinkering with…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9dllh-dukc

In my attempts to bring back her Kunai pressure. Description of the video says most of it. More experimentation to be done, but overall, I think it’s not a bad little piece to have against players who are DP happy and it seems like a nice thing to do when you counterpoke from a far distance. Wish the Kunai left you + on block, but at least it’s not punishable. More to experiment with for sure.

In other news, why am I still awake!? I’ve been up for 21 hours now, and I slept for 3ish hours last night. Ibuki please, leave me alone. Stupid work…

So much to experiment on, and I’ve not even touched on just the basic pressure stuff. Someday I’ll do real matches…

The target is safe as fuck and is a decent way to maintain pressure since it keeps you close.

Ok I’m positive that I’m assuming with ibuki…
Have no safe way of approaching, f.hk is ok when the opponent is rushing u down but for patient players it’s useless. On block u give away your turn.

Her cr.mp is ok but it’s too short.
Kunai isn’t plus enough on block
Anyone got anything solid to work with?

I was… Trying to make something like this, and looks like you got it down.

My hands hurt from playing too much. I would have to look more for tomorrow, but I got some thing’s to take care of first. :frowning:

Something super simple i havent seen posted yet:

v-skillxxVTC, super.

You can cancel her v-skill super late, and use the freeze to buffer super. Its safe if spaced right and builds v-trigger on block. It works from any range if you hit, but doesnt work if you charge the v-skill.

Super easy. Do v-skill, comfirm if hit or blocked, cancel accordingly. Her v-skill has decent range to it. Just a pixel or so short of F+HK for the non charged version
