I figure s.MK sweep target into HK dash would set up cute stuff. So cute.
I think some of the serious shit will come from just using the smoke from the bomb for mix ups.
Hurry up capcom and release her
Every piece of footage I see only further cements that she is looking to be pretty damn good. The DLC characters as a whole are infinitely more interesting than the base cast, and monumentally better designed. Something I hope they look at for S2 when they are (hopefully) retinkering stuff.
More things Iâve learned:
-
While regular air Kunai cannot be done from neutral, her charged Kunai can. This further increases her threat in neutral, and opens up some interesting options as far as mind games. Overall, she is seeming more flexible than most other characters.
-
The Juggle state after her bomb seems to allow for most anything to hit. While I have not seen everything used, all normals Iâve seen used have connected, as well as all specials.
-
The above also seems to be true for her EX Kunai explosion, which is pretty damn amazing. That could give her Laura reset options depending on the distance.
-
Her overhead from the MP-6MK target combo still seems to allow for links after it. So no change in frame data. This could be inaccurate however, as the only instance I saw this connect was also on counter-hit.
-
Her overhead seems to be +4 on hit, as opposed to +3 as previously thought. I saw most people using 5LK in the recent videos, and I seriously doubt thatâs a 3 frame move. Anyway, this change/find puts her overhead more in line with my prediction, which is good for me, I guess.
-
Raidaâs range is infinitely longer than I even thought it was before. Seriously, that shit is insane. Itâs like 2nd impact levels of range, only you donât have to slide forward at lightning speed to get the range. I think it might be stupid good in neutral and on punishment duty.
-
Her V-skill while bland as fuck, actually seems quite fast, and might serve as a pretty good poke.
What I really like about her bomb set-ups, is that you can use it as a **defense, or offensive tool. **
I agree that her flexibility in this game is pretty insane since she can do so many different set-ups and resets⌠Although, just worried about people mashing jab or DP to get out of her set-ups, but, she seems like the one that can adjust, since DPâs arenât as much priority in the meta game.
Notice how combofiend said that the bomb can OTG? How come the bomb didnât blow ibuki up when he did f.throw? Was the timing off?
Side note: Command dash is still pretty fast, her cape move doesnât seem so bad now thinking about it. Itâs just one of those moves that canât be relied on, but itâs flexible nonetheless. Itâs not tsujigoe, but not like, better then her other moves to escape.
Why I love this character, because of her unorthodox way of playing SF itself, and she kinda shifted from aggressive, to semi-momentum aggressive type.
Seems her alternate idle animation reloads Kunai, too. Pretty useless since it takes a while to get there but itâs a nice touch. You can see it at 2:42 in the Combofiend video.
Yes. We already have footage of a forward throw into bomb explosion OTGing an opponent off the ground with proper timing.
This happened in Killer Instinct also. Some people complained that the season 1 cast was a bit too plain and season 2 characters ended up being really spiced up (they also did revisions to the season 1s to make them more âspicyâ). The consensus now though is that the season 2 characters are too wacky and donât play neutral fairly/disrespect neutral too easily. Scrubs also complaining that they have too many moves and are too complicated to play. SFV is a more honest game though so I think people should feel more comfortable playing neutral with these DLC characters in comparison. Guile is about as honest as it gets any way.
I think thatâs just how SFIV works also. Iâm sure a lot of people would find SFIV boring if they could only play the arcade Vanilla cast. The 12 classic SF characters especially are just very run of the mill in that game and donât have much flash to them. I wouldnât have gotten through the first year of SFIV without C.Viper. The game was really boring to me other than her.
Iâm pretty sure I remember hearing that her MP, overhead target combo doesnât allow for any links. Itâs just to catch people sleeping. Pretty sure you have to land counter hit to get a link off that. Her standard overhead being plus 4 sounds good. Thatâll increase the range she can can confirm from and landing it on counter hit will probably let you get a s.MK into sweep target if close enough.
Her V Skill looks like it probably starts up even faster than Karinâs which is really good. Only difference Iâm assuming is that it doesnât have an actual hit box like Karinâs does. Iâm sure projectile invincible moves will just blow it up. Speaking of projectiles, her HK command dash and parasail look great for getting around horizontal projectiles. Her HK command dash is basically a completely better version of Chun Liâs V Skill that can be canceled into off normals. Which is great because that means she always has safe, meterless options for disrespecting fireballs which Chun doesnât really have. She can even still do parasail after HK command dash which is hilariously good vs horizontal projectiles. Still need to see if slide goes under horizontal projectiles. It may not though considering how OD HK command dash and parasail look for dealing with them. Dealing with arcâd/AA fireballs like Simâs and Fangâs may be a bit of a problem, but since Ibukiâs ground speed and MK command dash are really good, it looks like you can just easily force the issue on the ground until they eventually get opened up.
Chun Li has to respect them much more in comparison due to her having extremely honest/sub par anti projectile options and having very slow aerial options.
Can clearly see here that the bomb goes off before Ibuki takes any damage from the throw. Meaning the bomb went off before the throw went into a grounded/OTGable state. Meaning he timed it wrong. Slowing the video down to .25 makes it easier to see since the video should be 60 FPS.
Everyone has that issue in this game of continuing pressure. Frame advantage is really small in this game. Youâre lucky if your character gets even one move that plus 2 or 3 on block and the block stun push back can be pretty significant on lights and some mediums/heavies. You have to keep walking forward after a block string to continue pressure so plus frames arenât quite as real as they are in other games. Plus people can V Reversal any normal or heavy in a block string which forces you to go for lights which tend to have heavy pushback on block and the cycles goes on. Luckily Ibuki just has a lot of extra tools like a comboable overhead and command dashes to stay in without playing the frame advantage game all day. Her V Trigger is perfect for forcing people to sit during pressure like Mikaâs Trigger.
She definitely visually looks more like her 3S counter part in the way she pressures. She isnât purely about landing some light or medium string into a knockdown and running around. Her walk speed and dash speed are fast enough where she can kinda OG pressure and stay in like 3S. Thatâs what I really liked about Ibuki and gimping her walk speed and forcing her into more of a button fish into knockdown character made her feel way too stiff for me. This is the footsie reliant Ibuki I remember playing where I can just walk in/out and whiff punish and counter poke buttons and keep going. Her throw resets your pressure and spaces you away like Cammy, but she has so many ways to get in and stay in that the throw will just be a nice extra option to get them off block or make them whiff throw tech into combo. The MK and HK command dashes look really quick in speed, not terrible in recovery and a nice replacement for her old 3S teleport dash.
The more I watch Ibuki footage, the more she looks to me like a Laura with better speed, better mixups and better projectiles. Still not sure about the better normals, but she has a million of them so itâs possible.
She has completely better walk speed than Laura so even if her normals werenât as good as Lauraâs, sheâd have more opportunities to use them any way. Her normals have short range, but thatâs always been an issue with Ibuki. She never had long, confirmable normals. She was more just about pushing in range to counter poke or whiff punish with her walk speed.
Once she gets in her options look better too. Safe on block overhead that probably isnât much slower than Lauraâs unsafe overhead, command dashes to set up left rights and a v trigger which will pretty much get people to stop blocking.
Gootecks Goofy laugh after demonstrating that first v trigger combo lmao. Hes not ready to walk the path a ninja
Maybe have it loop when theyâre just going back an forth.
That gif is on some straight Namby Pamby shit
I think the funniest part is the bomb exploding as Ryu is doing a shoryuken
I can see this happening⌠Horribly thought-out scenario typed below.
Spoiler
Ibuki: ââŚâ
Ryu: âWhat the hell is Gouki doing in Tekken 7? Whatever the case, it looks like it is going to be the bomb!â
(Ibukiâs eyes open and she starts grinning through her mask).
Ibuki: âRyu.â
Ryu: âHm?â
Ibuki: âHereâs a real bomb for you.â
Ryu: âWait, what the- HEY!â
Ibuki suddenly tosses a bomb at Ryu.
Ibuki: âWhat?â
Ryu: âYou should not be playing with bombs like that! Or, knives for that matter!â
Ryu kicks the bomb back at Ibuki
Ibuki: âWhy not?â
Ibuki starts playing with the bomb
Ryu: âItâs too dangerous for that sort of thing!â
Ibuki laughs and positions the bomb right back in Ryuâs direction.
Ibuki: âSays the dude who uses a fighting style supposedly built around assassination. Dare I mention the Satsui no Hadou, or whatever that goofy shit is called? Letâs go!â
Ryu: âStop that!â
Ryu punches the bomb back at Ibuki
Ibuki: âCâmon, Ryu.â
Ibuki bashes the bomb right back at Ryu.
Ryu: âThat does it. SHOOORYU-â
The bomb explodes
Ryu: âGAH!â
Ibuki: âHm. It is only a matter of time before someone whines about this. Iâm not even officially released yet!â
Karin: âIbuki, stop messing with that poor Karate man and get over here! Chun Li needs help setting up the computer equipment!â
Ibuki stares at Karin with a bored expression. She then tosses a bomb at Karin.
Karin: âYOU-!!!â
Bomb explodes
Ibuki: âInsert noblewomanâs laugh here. Now where is that long-legged Chinese lady?â
