TournamentWars Final @ Bloody Knuckles - 02/28/10

That is hardcore.

I’m so mad I did not make it out!

I’m getting hyped to see the matches on youtube later on.

Playoffs were great.

Shoutout to my team, as stated by eman we really worked on our game and came a lot closer; I’d honestly be surprised if any other FULL teams practiced as much as we did…locations made that task easy; everyone being so tight? only easier. Thanks to Eman + Elias for carrying me around on your shoulders all season, I was pretty stoked to have finally contributed to our success.

BOSS: It’s a shame we couldn’t pull it off vs the vets…would have been tight. ><
I know our match will still be heavy, and trust that we’re bringing it. I’m happy enough with 3rd overall, and glad you guys have that 4th slot. Especially with both of our teams running out of the wildcard positions…sorry, but we simply refuse to take 4th. It’s not how things work around here. gl next week guys. :china:

Yes the fact that two teams coming from the wild card spot have a shot at money is very exciting.

I’d like to take the time out to talk about the ranbat season which will start the Saturday after this week.

So it’ll be a usual Ranbat with top 5 getting points:

1st - 10
2nd - 7
3rd - 5
4th - 3
5th - 1

The entry fee is going to be $10 each tournament, with $3 dollars being put aside for the end. At the end of the Ranbat (2 weeks before SSFIV drops) I’ll tally up all the points and the top 16 players will be put into a 16 man single elimination bracket to play for the money being put aside ($499 max) WINNER TAKE ALL. Yup winner take all. So play like it’s EVO.

The payout for the tournaments each week will be 70/20/10, so there will be weekly pay outs as well as the ToC at the end which will happen the week before SSFIV drops.

To make things interesting, there will be *2 “Random Select” Tournaments that will happen randomly. What I plan to do is after everyone has signed up and the bracket is ready I’ll have 5 playing cards and draw one. If I draw an ace, it’ll be a random select tournament. This will happen until we have 2 random select tournaments. There might be a special prize for first for those…not sure yet.

Rules will be EVO standard, I’m going to try to make it so we can have 3 setups in the restaurant and maybe 1 or 2 in the lounge. So if you have setups please help out in bringing them.

For the Random select tournament, random must be picked EACH time. Win or Lose.

*Depending on how many weeks this will be, it might only be 1 random select tournament.

Let’s hear some feedback, honestly I think a random select tournament will be pretty fun and entertaining to watch/play in. We haven’t really had a tournament like that up here ever.

We played random select at my house and that shiet was hella fun!

Eyyyyyyyy~!

Random select per set, or random select per round?

Let me know what you want me to help out with as far as the ranbats go, I think we’ll be doing the 2v2 casual tourney thing starting @8PM as well.

how about an hdr ranbat too to get people practicing for season 2?

hell i’d run it

$10 each tourney? Isn’t that kinda steep? I think the $5 we’ve been doing in singles is cool.

you goin to evo? are you not confidant enough to think you can win? if you answered yes to q1 and no to q1 why even go to compete? its motivation to go hard or go (stay)home.

Well the problem with the $10 per tournament is that alot of people are struggling to save up for evo as it is and feeling obligated to spend $10 every weekend on a ranbats tournament is going to conflict with those of us saving up. It will ultimately drive people away from the ranbats and leave the tournaments with less people and give us less practice.

I understand where you’re coming from dude, but like Riki-Oh said, I think ultimately, not so many people will want to play and just stick to the casuals. If it’s $10 for the tourney, and another $5 for Danny’s 2 v 2, that’s $15 just for SFIV every Saturday… and that’s WITHOUT buying any drinks and supporting the venue. You better believe that I’ll be there every single weekend, and I’ll pay $15 every weekend + extra for the drinks and whatnot, but others wont.

youre a beast good shit

I haven’t been to TW in hella, is the next season’s HDR season $25 ONCE or every TW? Cus I am not rich, and I’m trying to start a business to make them ends but I’m commin up in the game only.

$25 one time fee, meaning it will last you the whole season. Come out to Bloody Knuckles.

Isn’t that hecka far up north? I have a crap work schedule and no car so I can’t really come out for games too often. And I don’t really play SFIV anymore, so until SSFIV I am HDR/ST only.

its south of tw…

$10 per tournament is steep if it was for a long time but considering there will only be 7-8 ranbat tourneys MAX…and that even the crazy people who would come every night (me) won’t because I will have to travel for business stuff once school is over…so say people who are struggling to save for evo come to 4-5 and place pretty well (which means you’ll make your money back here and there)…you’re basically guaranteed top 16 (at $3 per person per tourney at 7 tourneys winner of that gets around $400 at 20ish people per tourney) …but better believe I won’t be droppin $10 on random select tournaments…those are absolutely worthless (competition wise to me)…Casuals is one thing but I play a max of 3-5 characters at a comfortable lvl I’m not throwing away $10 for that…

if you make the top 16 and take down that winner take all pot…that’s really going to help you out @ EVO.

^I was low balling the figure but realistically it should be around $450-550 which should cover vegas…but I’m definitely %100 against random select tournaments…especially since I’ll only be able to make 5 or so of the ranbat nights…
