What other meets though? I mean we got Gameclucks with the occasional Jareds. We all know the opinions about Gameclucks and Jared can only have so many gatherings. Mike brings up a good point but I’m sure Frank will figure it out.
I’m thinking that maybe we could get some of the team matches done at tourneyplay because it will be held at a different venue. Just an idea.
A turtling Guile can probably do some SURRIOUS damage to a not-so-cautious Dhalsim. All you have to do is throw Sonic booms, wait for a up-close teleport, Flash Kick all day!
It won’t be using Guile to his fullest extent, but you’d be pissing Dhalsim off for SURE.
P.S. The Guile v Seth match-up is roughly a 8-2 in my opinion. Guile has damage, Seth has mobility. The only thing people don’t understand about Guile’s advantage over Seth are his wall-jumps. The only way Seth will get in is if he baits a Flashkick first, then punishes. Guile has very QUICK recovery on Sonic booms, it’s next to impossible to Ultra him Full screen with Seth (Unless Yomi’d). Flash kicks, Sonic Booms (EX flies like a mofucking bullet), Air grabs, Knee Bazooka, Higher Health, Higher Stun, and Higher Damage output.
The first half of the match is about as exciting as watching a carnivorous slug eating an elephant… You just feel like sodomizing yourself with a metal billy club covered in barb/razor wire, laced with Poison Ivy and cayenne pepper.
Yes, that is a very disturbing mental image, I’m sorry.
I think the league isn’t about holding entire tournaments, it’s about holding a single match between 2 teams. Meaning it doesn’t have to be held extensively at a venue. Depending on the characters on both teams, they could even potentially just meet up at GameWorks and play their match there. Just have someone record it.
It’s awesome people moved so fast on this to sign up, but it takes a little time to organize something of this magnitude.
Frank,
If you want your vision to materialize, just take it one step at a time. You know you got teams ready to battle it out, so that’s taken care of. You also know you have people willing to host sessions too, so in my opinion things are moving along fine. Be patient, and keep putting together solid pieces in a timely fashion. It will be built.
This matchup is dumb, to be abrupt. Whoever gets the life lead in the beginning of this match can sit on it until time out, pretty much. And if Dhalsim gets it, Guile cannot get it back unless Sim gets random/stupid. Guile can still get caught with a well guessed teleport combo.
WHAT? Nonononononono Guile v Seth is not 8-2. No. No. no. A strong 6-4 maybe. Seth can stuff flash kick with jumping roundhouse all day, and guile has no way to chase Seth down. Wall jump all over the place and guile can never airthrow you, play sonic boom warz with him when he isn’t chasing you. Guile’s damage output is not much higher than Seth’s, and is stun output isn’t any higher unless Guile is hitting serious combos on you. The last thing you said is very true, though :wasted:
Playing a few different style of Guiles over the past couple of weeks, I still find it being in Seth’s favor, but based on the tools any Guile would use (besides a Turtle Guile who steals the lead), like you said, wins based on mobility.
As I said, Well-determined Flashkicks destroy most of Seth’s get in game. Flash Kicks beat out: Wall-jumps, jump-ins, teleports, and rush downs.
Given, I’m basing this on looking at both character arsenals, and I’m sure there is stuff I don’t know about Guile, but the situation is grim to say the least for him. I’d love more work on the match up, but pre-liminary readings on the match up, and in-game experience has led me to believe a Turtle Guile can fuck up Seth with no problems.
Haven’t posted in a while, sorry guys. Things are going according to schedule, and speaking of schedules, I’m still in the process of making that up. There are a few teams that I need to get a hold of so I can finish that off. Also with Josh and Jacob unable to participate Pat’s in a serious bind for a team right now. I “might” have a late entry team that want’s to get in on this too.
I thought you were saying it was way way in Guile’s favor, since you posted “Guile v Seth is 8-2” without clarifying. But actually, watch out for Guile’s far fierce. It kills seth, and I don’t mean “hurts”. Kills. Buff. I think the match is pretty much ridiculously in Seth’s favor at the beginning of the round, slightly in his favor once guile gets meter, and in Guile’s favor once he gets a throw/knockdown, provided Seth doesn’t have ultra. Then it’s even, and unwinnable once he gets away. Guile wins if he gets momentum and guesses right twice.
P.S.) When are you gonna have another session, Jared? Will you be having more? That lease sign outside made me wonder if you were moving or something last time.
