Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines as well. Mirrors are a horrible way of deciding who should play. I was saying we could have both candidates play a third party and have that person decide. Luckily there aren’t THAT many character spots up for debate.
I think the only way to hold qualifiers is for each person to go through survival mode 5, whoever survives the longest qualifies.

It kinda seems like this is turning out to be teams chosen by opinion rather than real stats.
Even if we pulled the character selection from the last like… 6 tournaments and determined who was the top player for each character it would be better…

No it wouldn’t. The tournaments results are skewed based on who has the ability to travel rather than determining ability per specific character. If the players are able to reach a concensus on the majority of characters the system is viable. It is an exhibition by the players for the players after all.
Are there any in particular that stand out? Just say it, no need to be shy.

This is despite the fact that I beat the johnsons for the title of best player in Ontario.

well its going to be hard enough to determine who is good with certain characters and not within the GTA and the outskirts…everyone is going to have their opinion on things and there is techincally no real way of determining who is good with who and somewhat…the benefit of the doubt usually goes to the people who actually go to the tournaments and obviously get known and ranked within the community itself…based on my case…I have gone to maybe a handful of tournaments here in toronto and basically stayed around the top 16 and higher…but not enough for people to see or know who i am or if im good or whatever the case may be…
regardless…it does seem to be a fun competitive idea for this 17v17 match up…and whomever can go or join…all the best…
I keep the stats for all tournaments not just POWNZ, but I see your point I guess. I’d love to figure out a way so we can run this starting next year with real stat tracking and such… and get a solid feel for who is the best for what character. I really really like this idea a lot.
Hey Vince…thinking of hosting some tourneys and ranking matches closer to the east end and near my area…interested? im making plans for next year coming…when i have more time.
Of course, i’m always good for helping out. We all have to work together to make our community larger and further ourselves. There always big opportunities and things waiting to happen if we decided to get ourselves organized.

From what youve been saying about your play I suggest (if you care about actually getting better and faster) sticking to one character for a while.
That’s what I was thinking too…which is one of the reasons why I want to get some stuff together in the East End because of some of the potential players here that might not have the access to go to your side of town…we will talk…

I have proven time and time again that I am in the Top 33 ranking of SF4 players. ie Sogo#1, Sogo#2, and most recently SB4,
Therefore I am guarenteed a spot.
