assume 1 match sets with 2/3 rounds (ie not typical 2/3 matches … not that you will have time for it as you will see below):
5 mins for the actual match to be played (again, 1 match sudden death)
1 mins for plugging in controllers, setting buttons, switching for the next match, etc
6 mins total per match
289 matches x 6 mins per match = 1734 mins = 28.9 hrs
If there are 3 setups that can be used in parallel:
28.9hrs / 3 setups = 9.63 hrs
Add 10% to be safe
1.10 x 9.63 hrs = 10.596 hrs
So for a 17x17 round robin format (single match) across 3 setups, you are looking at 10+hrs.
[side note, if there is a 4th and 5th setup to be used it will help tremendously as ALL the matches can run in parallel:
Wango’s math for tournament run time has always been right on the money, so i’m going to trust him on this one. 7 hours is a bit much for a tournament that requires everyone to be there most of the time.
The EVO team format is likely the best scenario. With the sheer amount of players involved it’ll have to be tracked ridiculously well though. I’m sure a spreadsheet using a properly constructed IF formula could account for everything.
As much as Nagata’s opinion on this is worth fuck-all given the fact that he’s never seen me play (which isn’t a reason in itself to pick anyone over me), I agree with him. If dat Girth wants to play Sim, it should be him and Dennis.
I’ve updated the first post with the list, so people can reference it easily.
I’ve subbed out Virtuo with Mosh; (B?)Ryan said that he’d have to book a day off work, and it wouldn’t be worth it unless he made more money than from work. Mosh wants the spot, and I don’t think anyone would disagree with it.
I wish i wasn’t trash at Vega in comparisson to the rest of the GTASF players or I would be so hype for this.
Regardless I will be there to support , this looks really exciting. I know the venue is already chosen but just throwing it out there that if it falls through I am offering Pownz up free of charge to host this.
It isn’t personal, you could be the best Sim in Canada. I’ve never seen you play before. From the look of it, it’s an extraordinarily limited set of players who have seen you play. Situations like this are why I’ve always encouraged people to come out to tournaments and show off their stuff. Nameless may well be the only player I’ve ever pimped that’s never been to an offline event because he’s willing to play anyone at any time online and lives out of #gtasf taking on challengers every chance he gets. It’s just a matter of exposure.
Nagata, Andrew has been hitting up starnet for a while now. I think everyone who hits up starnet can vouch for him. That being said, we kinda need gerjay in that viper spot because if nameless flops we got no vipers.
Though I do have another viper lined up, but thats if nameless flops.
