Toronto SF4 Console Tourney 03/14

Why should tiers dictate entry fees.

I suppose by top tiers, he might mean top players, instead of the actual tier lists.

Yes. That’s how I interpreted his post as well.

So if JWong shows up for a tournament, we should charge, lets say, $50.

$10 for entry fee
$40 for appearance fees

In any case, yeah, why the fuck does that matter anyway? You wanna give them MORE money to scam from you?

I have two thoughts really:
$5 entry fee because we have too many beginners. I want to them to not let money stop them from competing because they know they are going to lose anyway.

$10 entry fee because some of the known players might not come for a $5 entry fee. They would feel, it’s not worth their time for that itty bit of prize money. Hopefully nobody thinks like this. No big deal if Old school players don’t come. It will make the competition better for the people who want to learn via tournament experience.

I’d lean towards $5 entry fee. Atleast for the 1st tournament. To me, it is more like an introduction tournament really. Then again, that’s my opinion.

There is no Door Fee for this tournament so really, you’ll be just spending the required entry fee. Which is sweet if you really want to participate but have not much cash.

Dino: Decide soon. I vote $5 because there will be alot of beginners.

NeoRussell

Nobody is going to join a $10 tournament.

I agree, there weren’t any issues with the POWNZ tournaments, ppl came out and had fun while playing well. The attraction shouldn’t be about the prize money, it should be about meeting new ppl and improving. If we attract enough ppl for sf4 shouldn’t there be a 3rd place prize anyway?

So that’s 3 votes for $5 entry fee.

Reason to come
The venue place has places to eat that are close. McD’s, Subway, etc… You will have options.

Sherbourne station is there and 3 minutes away from venue so no problem for transportation as well.

If you drive, there is a 1 hour parking outside but I really recommend you just pay parking for the whole day. There has been many stubborn players that got parking tickets because of this. LOL

The best reason, to meet the new players. There maybe alot of them that comes. Depends on how much I advertise. I will try to be crazy with that. Maybe talk to EBGAMES or something.

NeoRussell

I totally agree with C3. Money isn’t going to drag people out of their houses to be playing SF4 this early after release, playing/meeting new people and getting better will. I promise, more people will be into the friendlies than the actual tournament itself. By all means, I’d still be down for going if it were 5 bucks, but I think more people would be down on casual tournaments or weekly/biweekly “sessions”. any opinions?

edit: bunt all this talk about tier lists. and there should def be a 360 setup or two. though a 360 player can’t really face a PS3 player…i dunno, seperate brackets/tournaments?

I can almost certainly provide a 360, if the demand for more set-ups is great enough.

The obvious problem with that is 360 players and PS3 players will invariably meet up in their bracket matches, and this will cause problems.

Is this happening in a house or apt building?

or something else?

It’s and apt building but the tourny will be in the party room.
Big enough to fit 50 players. So no worries about space. Plenty of chairs and stuff.

Agreed on the friendlies. I’d rather meet the people behind the sign in name and such.

I can definitely make it out to this tourny only a few subway stops from my place. I only have 360 sticks though can I use anyone elses for the tourny?

I agree to making Soul Cal and SF both $5 Dollar entries.

I Guess we do 1** PS3 and 1 360** and if two cross system players meet they will just hafta adapt to a different stick. Its the only way to really compromise.

The venue is good. Its a general sized rec room in a building. It easy to acces and alot of food and what not all walking distance. We will likely have 2 Setups for each game but I think we will devote one extra to SF after a while.

RUSSEL - We have one TV there and my HDTV. ME and jeff can likely supply PS3’s for SC4. Can you find 1-2 TVs? or another System? We have the blurry TV still there but not sure who will want to play on it. IT wouldnt hurt if someone else brought and extra PS3 or 360.

I’ll talk to Thai and Junior. I’m sure they won’t mind bringing their PS3’s.
I have my 360 with two sticks but PS3 is favorable right now so I’ll scrap that.
I’ll bring it anyway.

Barry has 2 PS3 converters so people can bring their sticks and we’ll try to accomodate as much converters as possible. I believe right now we will have 3.

Now, regarding sticks. I can only provide 1 PS3 unfortunately.
People would have to bring their sticks if you don’t have one. Sorry.

NeoRussell

I’m assuming these convertors work for 360 sticks on ps3 and vice versa. In that case, the tournament matches should get priority and if there’s lag, then somebody will have to use a stick for the other system.

Hmm I might think of going to this tournament if it is not too far away. Also is this Bleeker street or Bleecker?

I’ll probably make this. Saving money is for scrubs.

Sorry guys I edited the First post…

its **375 BLEECKER STREET **(not bleeker…added the"c")

375 Bleecker Street is the address my friend. It is near Sherbourne and Bloor. You can access Bleecker Street from Wellesley. Check the above directions, I made it for Car and Transit.

Also this is the equipment right now.

SC4
TV - OFFICE
HDTV & PS3 - DINO
PS3 - JEFF

SF4
PS3 - JR?
PS3 - Cowie?
360 - Russel?
TV - Office (blurry; casuals? MM?)

I believe Russel mentioned he would be able to get 3 Sticks? Also adapters should also be available through, Russel, Barry, Kyper, and Jeff?

There is also the Blurry TV, perhaps we can setup a 360 to this TV as ca casual/MM station if we end up using PS3’s only.

We would still need 1-2 TVs!! We can devote a TV to SF once the SC tourney narrows down. But we would still need another TV.

OOF!??! KYPER!?? JEFF?!?! Anyone that can bring anything I will do my best to co-ordinate with and accomodate.
Anyone that can bring arcade sticks for PS3/PS3 or 360 that would also be great.

Please let me know thanks. Also I’m still listening to any concerns anyone has about the tourney, equipment, setup, etc.

As I mentioned, I can provide a 360 if needed, so add me to that list please.
