Toronto March thread 2005

Dreaded fist is a stick maker from Arlington Texas I think…don’t know the history he has with TOSF.

team tourny for GGXX?? no one is going to want to team up with my scrubby Johnny…

oh yeah… that’s true
lol. and acutlly, now that i read your post more carefully, i’m actually flattered.
“The arcade is alright but not alot of players to begin with. At least the players are good”

brew hahaha!

that’s right, i’m a good player! :stuck_out_tongue:

how about it ben & g3nn? team matches in mvc2 and 3s? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahah it’s TOSF reminiscing time.
First contact I had with TOSF was on #tosf on B5 night, I was talking mad shit to two people on there, can’t remember who. I thought sauga was the shit back then ahahah.
I started playing SF with Crayz_Penguin and DM (omg, MSH vs SF = too good), then moved to skybox, with MVC1.

Once MVC2 came out, i used to randomly see Gerjay around (although i didn’t know who he was) and played Marvel with him. I was already friends with Spidey Shan(who would be owning up MVC2 right now if he still played), Azn_Rich(Devotion), Azn Strider, Angel of Rage, and Poke Guy. I met the rest through SF. Cool beans.

i remember my first fighting game… it was 3s! lol. the one and only fighting game i play (aside from half-assed attempts at mvc2)

one of the main reasons i got into it was b/c i saw how everyone in 'loo cove played that game, and the best way to comunicate w/ customers is to play the game. next thing i know, after my cash shifts, me and the cove customers are playing eachother and helping eachother out. i remember when mikec thought me how to do a dragon punch!

i look back… i’ve gotten better… but still have many miles to go :stuck_out_tongue:

Man, I love stephen, but he doesn’t like me that much

So you’re saying… Mike C taught you how to dragon punch. Coulda at least had a better teacher than that :stuck_out_tongue: jk mike.

wasn’t there a ‘skitzo’ player before?

I played at annex subs once ;o

I still havn’t seen jblood / xbloodx or colguile. Wasn’t agent guile in toronto too?

All of you fuckers get back in the channel. Get. back. in.

wut happend to lawrence, spencer, and raymond? they’re top tier!

and mark111 from DT, and ocean

lol i remember the 1st day i got on SRK i got flamed by flightwing, den the 2nd day, i got flamed by everyone else

I started playing SF the way all the old schoolers did. Pizza Parlours, Donut Shops and Variety Stores. Played sf1 at some beef jerky store in chinatown. First Arcade? Crystal fuckin’ Palace. First real arcade? DT Funland. I was like 8 then. That arcade used to be THE PLACE. But we played with DT rules.

  1. No throwing. Must offer throwback if you do it by accident. Command throws allowed.
  2. Mandatory mercy round. If you kill them by accident, you give them your game or their quarter back.

Failure to abide by these rules resulted in an automatic stabbing.

Ahh the good old days.

James Chen:How Do I Beat Ex-Bison?

Don’t forget David Tran.

weird how no one mentioned Jason ma and friends yet…

kymah: come to the tournament and get owned up by my student -Sinclair

Wat about stool master, Roy?

good times i thought i was GOD at annex cuz i ran 3s with an iron fist, then a friend shows me and malazyn VF for the first time we meet sos/2 and play him he eats us up and spits us out every round. my pride was hurt a little bit, then we go to orbit for the first time in the same day and repeated to get killed by some dude wit glasses and a yellow hat who likes to jump in too damn deep wit ryu, that whole day fucked up my confidence. fuck you jay

didn’t know shit bout tournies but helio(Gohans) stories were so interesting i had to go and see what the fuck was so good 3 years later and im still here

I can totally relate to Darin’s story. I used to run Brampton (not completely, as Pete was still right there with me running BCC) and then I found SRK. I read about that huge VF/VA tourney where Detroit and Montreal came and I got humbled so horribly it wasn’t even funny. That was one of those moments you think “OK reality check, you’re not the best out there” and then I got serious in SF. I would like to give a resounding “FUCK YOU” to Team Montreal for trading off guys because they saw I was a scrub. A big “THANKS” to Clayton for showing me shit with Kim (that’s the day I started using Kim after seeing Clayton’s shit so everyone can bitch at him for eventually spawning C.U.R.T.).

BTW; T3 = the most fun tourney I’ve ever been to.

Claytoonnnnn, where are you??

Well T3 was the most fun tourney I’ve ever been to thanx to the drugs…

I’d take… Dave and Fob Guy over you two in a UW team rep anyday…

If we’re going by actual roots, then I’m technically an STC player. SC2 is what got me into the FG scene seriously, and I used to go to STC all the time, 'till it closed down. That’s when I started going to DTFL/Orbit.

100% serious request:
I need to learn at least one 2D game, and I don’t even really care which, except that I really don’t want to play Marvel. Just watching that shit makes my eyes hurt. So is there ANYONE willing to teach me either CvS2, 3S, or GGXX? I’m not talking about combo’s, or anything… I can learn that shit on my own… I mean I really just don’t understand the fundamentals of these games.

stop by #TOSF you can get help there.

Well TOSF is desperate for another skilled Marvel player but it’d take ages to get you up to snuff. Personally, I’d suggest CvS2. It has the easiest learning curve for beginners, there are TONS of players both low and high level and there are more than enough players (myself included) that can teach you how to play the game well.

You should really try your hand at CFJ. It is one of the finest fighting game engines around, and I think you’ll really enjoy it. You can even join the cfj tourny at orbit on saturday. I’m sure there will be a lot of beginners there.
