Funland sticks are pretty gay, so your execution better be top notch. That being said, for those of you that do play at funland, what time(s) are you there? I play there on my breaks and stuff, and it’d be nice to have new competition.

I’m the guy that plays green Ken & blue/white (LK colour) Necro.

Sorry Geese, Funland is fucken terrible.

If I get my new job, I’ll be there everyday after work.

lol…my post keeps getting smaller.

mvc2, cvs2, 3s.

I think they have mvc1.

Tempted to go tomorrow, I’m dangerous.

I think I’ll be there tomorrow, too. I have some job agency interview on the 4th floor of Eaton Centre (GG Acrophobia) at 10 AM. I’ll probably be there at around noon, but I’m not sure yet.

funland sticks aren’t that bad. at least not the 3S ones.

They don’t have CvS2.

They do, however, have CvS1

Noodleman’s a homo. He didn’t even say hi to me today. I want my appetizer back.

!

edit: !

haha, i figured you were too busy…it was pretty packed, and the whole time i was waiting you were working non-stop. is it even ok for me to go into the kitchen?

You can go to the salad pass where the waiters pick up their food. Yeah it was pretty busy, but that’s nothing compared to Saturday night.

I didn’t even see you come in lol.

How was everything?

kymah spit in your appetizer for not saying hi.

hey Kin, what restaurant do you work in?

Ah, i’ll remember that and i’ll go in the back next time (i would’ve figured it’s “off limits” for customers). I got there around 6:30, it was pretty rammed. Probably waited around 40mins or so for a table. Peeked through the bar and what I assumed to be the pizza station to see you pacing back and forth just cooking away.

Everything was great! Thanks for the appetizer! My gf was like “err, we didn’t order that?!” haha.

See… I went on a Saturday night. That was a BAD idea. I tried to get Kin’s attention but it seemed almost impossible, since I couldn’t move more than a foot in either direction. But it was great

H O L Y shit. Funland 3S sticks are FLAWLESS. I’m amazed how good they are, they’re exactly like the sticks we used to have at Wizards. I could c. forward and b+fierce hit confirm Chun’s super for FREE. I don’t remember doing that in forever. Fuck, I re-realized today how shitty DC 3S is. The timings are so fucking strict on shit I can do easily on good sticks. Anyway, I also played CVS1, but the right side is FUCKED cause the left didn’t work, oh well. Anyway, I played some dudes in 3S on the cab at the back (the first one I played on) and later, after I beat them down harsh, they moved to the front cab (the bigger one I didn’t even see on the way in lol) and so I played them there and beat them away from the machine again, only to leave while playing CPU Sean. Anyway, it’s weird how although it was great having 100% execution, it still didn’t feel good enough to warrant going each day. Maybe I’m just lazy or old or whatever, but I’d rather play people at home lol. Oh, and I realized my MAS stick actually sorta sucks, cause Funland/Wizards sticks feel a lot smoother. If I get this new job (which I have an interview for at 4:00 oh shit!) then I will have some pretty good money, so I think I’m gonna get someone to build me a beastly P360. Ok, diary complete!

PS. I sorta have to agree that arcades are dead now. The atmosphere is too ghetto when you grow older, and you just wanna chill with some good friends in a decent place. R.I.P. arcade industry. Time for the webcafe hybrids to take over!

PPS. All in all, it was fun and nerve racking playing ppl again on good sticks, but tiring as hell, too. If anyone lives close to Bloor/Yonge, I’m down for training in: 3s/cvs2/a3/st and even mvc2 and I’m even willing to learn Guilty Gear.

you don’t want to go everyday cause you’re afraid of dying.

Lol this is true. Man, I played a black dude, and I thought he was gonna get mad and shank me. Well no, first, I thought they were trying to scam me, cause his friend came up behind me while the other was playing. And I had to look down at my bag every few seconds. So then, his partner or whatever leaves, and he kept playing me and losing, and I was sure he was going to snap anytime. But he was actually a really decent guy, kept his cool, and after he left, I gave him my game and he was happy. Having said that, I dunno if I’ll return. My apartment is so much safer.

What time did you go because I didn’t recall seeing any Chun li’s when I went (would have been about 5:30 pm.ish), If you go around 3pm-6pm you should find good players at Funland on weekdays, thats when I (white kid playing green Ken and blue Gouki) usually see the other good downtown players show up. BananaWeed is often there at these times (your Necro is a MONSTER!!!), Samir is there every day after about 3:30pm, and I know for a fact that Kai (T2 or T3 3S winner? I can’t remember.) and Henry (T6 3S winner) were there today when I got there. I even got a chance to play Ocean yesterday which was fun because I can’t think of any other local Q players that can beat me (are there any other Q players?).

Okay now a rant about the whole Funland thing:

I go there most days of the week and I play to win just as much as Orbit players do and I’ve never been stabbed or shot for being “cheap”, using multiple throw traps, Kara SRKs, Genei-jin, chip kills, bar charging, or not giving mercy rounds (just don’t be an asshole and taunt after the knock-out unless your friends with your opponant). Yeah there are a lot of beginners at Funland but thats why they have the cabnet in the back so they can at least get there moneys worth and not be forced into getting owned by players with many more years experiance. I for one wish they put real 360’s (even though I hate American setups) in the back 3S cabnet to encourage the lower level players to improve by playing each other on good working hardware. Everyone keeps saying that we need to support new players, and show them that they don’t need 6 years of practice before they’re allowed to play the veteran 3S players. I’ve only been playing for just over a year and have had good matches with a lot of Torontos top players, (except JS, and Nech Neb, I got raped by both) because players like Samir, Henry, Ken, Quincy, and others were willing to teach me how get better once they saw that I was serious. I just feel that people need to be more supportive to new players for the scene because it is dying slowly with age, and Funland might be a good place to improve in that area. I may even talk to some of the supervisers in the arcade and ask them about putting another set of P360’s in the back cab, and hopefully it won’t get dubed the “Scrub Machine” any longer.

The Orbit community has done a good job of keeping new and old players interested in the community, and the GTASF has certainly proved themselves to be world class players; with Nech Neb beating Paulee and Mike Watsons team at T4, Henry beating Justin Wong at T6, AnyurismX and JS getting 1st and 2nd at the TGA event :wow: , and of course former member Ack becoming the first forienger to win a Japanese ranbat  . Moe, Tommy and Jay have expressed a lot of interest in keeping 3S alive over there, and hopefuly Funland can use Orbits success as an example to strengthen a downtown community and put new life into the scene. And as for the getting shot thing, its okay to make jokes like that because it is downtown but please don’t make fun of what happened on Boxing Day 2005 cause thats just not something people should be joking about.

Heh, finally figured out who I was, eric? :stuck_out_tongue: (My name’s Tu, in case Samir hasn’t told you yet)

Anyways, I’ve been playing at funland for years, and have never had any problems. Just keep a good attitude, and most people will reciprocate.

I randomly show up at funland sometimes when I’m in TO
