I’ll take that bet !

 I was waiting for Jay to say that.

Anyone wanna help me out and find a good comp to buy?
Ive been out of the loop for a while and I have no idea what the standard is nemore. Whats the basic specs a comp should be runin at? Any good comps at Canada Computers? Why is the snow animation shitting up my comp?

Don’t buy at Canada Comps. Get all your parts from ncix / directcanada!

How much are you willing to spend and do you still want to play CALL OF DUTY!

HAHA
a friend at work was tellng me how good CALL OF DUTY 4 is so yeah its part of the reason why I want a new comp.
where is this ncix/directcanada?
oh yeah right now I’m thinking $600+ or so

Online in BC. So you only have to pay GST, prices are cheap as fuck and shipping isn’t much either.

8800 GT - < 260 (combo with nice mobo is 440 lol)
Mobo - 100
2x1gb ram - 100 (or a lot less if you’re a jew like Cyrus)
cpu - < 270 depending on what you want
psu - < 120
case - whatever you want
500gb hdd - < 100

Spend between 650 and a k, you could get something that’ll last you a good 3+~years. You’d just have to change your gpu down the line.

You could RFD some parts as well, could save you money here and there.

Fuck hackers with RPD’s just staring at walls burst firing for headshots.

Find out about good deals here: www.redflagdeals.com/forums

Hahahaha what server. Use the Barrett like an assault rifle, no need to scope.

If you’re asian just get it at pmall and get your fob discount.

Buy the following off NCIX:

CPU: Q6600 - $299
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22211&vpn=BX80562Q6600&manufacture=Intel

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L - $101
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25369&vpn=GA-P35-DS3L&manufacture=Gigabyte

Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-620HX - $144
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=19831&vpn=CMPSU-620HX&manufacture=CORSAIR

Video Card: Galaxy GeForce 8800GT - $269
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=27328&vpn=88YFF6HUFEXX&manufacture=Galaxy%20Technology

RAM: Anything will do…just pick something off this page:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=105

Sound Card: Preference like RAM…pick something off this page:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=1007

Hard Drive: Preference…if you don’t care about speed much, just get any HD off this page:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=109

All the other shit like CD drives, mice, keyboard, monitors, etc…is personal preference. I just made this list to get you started.

The main things to note are:

-8800 GT is the best card you can get right now for your money…this isn’t debatable, it’s FACT. The new 256/512’s are either a bit too slow or a bit too “not worth it”
-the Q6600 is pretty much the best value you can get for a processor…overclock it with a nice heatsink if you wanna go that route. I would recommend this:

Ultra 120 Extreme
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23531&vpn=ULTRA-120-EXTREME&manufacture=THERMALRIGHT

**I don’t recommend getting a case. I’m running my setup on my table just open air style. My parts have never been cooler, and I have immediate access whenever I wanna tinker with it.

PS. Don’t go cheap on the LCD.
PPS. Do your research and get what is best for you. There is no best for everyone obviously.

lol are you sure ? I baltantly look on uav and fire through walls all the time. Pure haxxxxx

dd: I recently upgraded and this is my system running cod4 everything maxed at 1440x900 at 60 frames minimum!

palit 8800gt (just get any 8800gt thats cheap)
gigabyte p35-ds3l - board great for oc’ing and p35 chipset means room for upgrade (new faster intel chips coming this january)
e4500 - i just bought this to keep me happy till the new intel chips come. Overclocks like hell but I didn’t get into that yet
g.skill pc2 6400 2gb kit - you want at least pc6400 / ddr800 if you want to oc

id agree on everything except leaving it naked.
accidental spill or something dropping=gg comp.
and ram is REALLY important. dont buy crap ram.

or you can try buying the 3870 instead. it costs less than the 8800gt, and it only slightly performs less than a 8800gt.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103050&CMP=AFC-PCPer&ATT=14103050

pros:
smaller chip
cost less
uses less power
not nvidia (everyone has a nvidia card these days -_-) nothing against it, but if you wanna be different lol

but nvidia might drop the price of the 8800gt to match that of the 3870 because ati’s only hope of competing against nvidia is by selling affordable cards and not those crazy $800 high end cards.

edit: nvidia graphic cards are better for gaming then ati radeon cards.
it says $250 on newegg but you can get 3870 for as cheap as $219.

lol, no they won’t based on ati price, just prior to nvidia’s next lineup comes up. Fact is the 3870 can’t even outperform nvidia’s previous last gen midrange 8800gts which goes for ~200 on the forums. nvidia wouldn’t drop the price of the 8800gt to match 3870 because they already hold the market. And if you want something cheaper than an 8800gt, just go for the old 8800gts cuz even they hold a better performance than the 3870.
Any case will do. A full tower will probably be the easiest to work with. If you want an all star case , antec solo/p150, antec 180/182 , or the coolermasters are good stuff, but seriously a case is not that important if you can manage your cabling.

lol at ANY ati card.

Geese has a good setup because I have the same one for the most part haha.

The Q6600 at ncix / directcanada should not be 300. The price should be between 270 and 280 lol.

The soundcard = use the onboard audio found on the DS3L.
Harddrive = Western Digital. Just don’t get the RAID drives unless that’s what you’re going to run.
A decent case would run under 150.

The 3870 is underwhelming…it’s not a bad card by any means, but with the release of the 8800 GT, Nvidia basically owned ATI’s entire lineup in one shot. I’m sure they will come back Q1 of 2008, but for now, ATI = no no.
