No offense or anything, but have you played A2? (or a1 but who cares about that).
Actually that’s not how math and statistics work. You see, unless the skill gap is completely absurd, the probability of player X winning a round against player Y is not 100% just because player X is better than player Y. Understand? This is why the probability of player X winning a match against player Y increases as the number of rounds required to win a match increases. Increasing the amount of damage required to win a round has an effect very similar to increasing the number of rounds required to win a match.
I can read perfectly well, and all I read in your post was the same stuff every other person who gets tick-thrown or countered too much says.
Why do people feel the need to insult the intelligence of anyone who disagrees with them?
Why shouldn’t you suffer for screwing up? That’s the point of competition. I wouldn’t play Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Forgiveness Remix. “You whiffed a DP, but don’t worry, just do it again and receive no punishment until it hits”
roflol.
Totally man.
damn people sure have big egos
ST damage is great because it means single normal moves actually matter as a form of dealing damage instead of just some button you press to slow your opponent’s rushdown, maybe. which means you have a better chance at beating someone with better execution. practicing combos is important and all but its not like you cant hurt your opponent if you cant do them.
i dont get the complaint about TOD combos. there are what, 2 or 3 practical ones and its pretty damn hard to get in the situation to do them in the first place
if you think the “mistake punishing” in ST is bad, try playing some of those games where if your opponent pressed low jab before you did you get to watch yourself in a stupidly long combo that lasts a whole minute.
LOL… when you said that, Killer Instinct & Mortal Kombat popped into my mind.
I used to dislike Super Turbo for the same reasons others are putting out here. Throws being extremely powerful, very high damage, and no air-block (I mostly played Alpha 2 in high school). Also, the abundance of charge characters was always a detractor for me, since I wasn’t very good with them. I’d never have gone so far as to say that the game is somehow inferior because of these things, but they didn’t quite mesh with what I wanted out of a fighting game.
I’ve since gotten over all that, though, and really started digging into it. It took a while, but I’ve grown to absolutely appreciate everything that Super Turbo does, and I would have been disappointed if HDR changed too much of that. I do feel somewhat more limited while playing it, but that just leads to an experience that is just as satisfying, but in different ways than I get from the other SF’s. It’s still probably not my favorite SF (I’ve still got my Alpha 2 bias), but I do love the game for what it is, high damage, crazy throws and all.
I’ve played all 3 Alphas.
Kinda off topic, but is the damage in SF4 similar to ST?
I"m not complaining about tick throws or getting countered. I’m just saying damage is too high that it closes the gap between noob and pros because if pro messes up even once he can lose the round or even the game to a button mashing noob.
You’re underestimating pros and overestimating noobs. Simple as that.
You’re probably right but even pros can make mistakes sometimes like throwing a fireball instead of dragon punch while opponent is jumping in. Since damage is so high it can change tide of game in 1 mistake like this.
That’s exactly why ST is so much fun.
Don’t fuck up, or YOU get fucked up.
If you fuck up in MvC2, that could mean your whole team could be OCV’d.
Infinite > Guard-Break > Infinite > Repeat.
At least in ST, you can’t be infinited, so there is always a chance for a big comeback.
Again, you’re underestimating pros. Not only will that mistake or similar mistakes never (or will ridiculously rarely) happen with top players, they should easily be able to regain their advantage (if they ever lost it).
All i see is people calling themself “pro” yet complaining they lose to “noobs”.
I’ve noticed that, too.
lol yeah… If you’re losing to noobs, you obviously aren’t that good yet.
This thread is too epic.
Then you should know throws and fireballs are not “extremly weak” by any stretch of the imagination in A2. I don’t even feel like going into detail here. Come on.
They’re both nerfed in A3 but still very useful.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything that was said here.
