Your not suppose to whiff Dp’s in front of the dude, you get what you deserve.
also it’s not like you’ve lost when your down 90% to 10%, at that point in time you have WAY more damage potential than your op. sure they can kill you with like a low RH, but you can super them down to 40%, then crossup FTW. it aint gonna happen much but comebacks are very possible in this game 'cause of the high damage all the characters do, and it’s easier to scare people in ST cause of that high damage output. which leads to more defensive play in a game thats VERY offensive, which in turn makes the game extremely dynamic, making big shifts in tempo the norm… also this game IS NEW SCHOOL. if you added a dash to every character and made the damage only do like a third of what it does now you’d DAMN NEAR have SF4. which is good but… we already have that game.
i like ST BECAUSE of the high damage as well as it’s ability to parallel new school fundamentals. it really is probably the best fighting game ever made.

Damage is why I never really bothered playing ST. Contrary to popular opinion, I think it’s a pretty noob friendly game because you can get lucky and turn around a match pretty easily. I rarely get wtf losses in an alpha game and get them constantly in this one.
if you get them constantly, it’s probably not ‘wtf losses’
No. This is a remake of ST, its how it should be.
As for your balance comment. Everyone can throw/counter (not including command throws) and super combos were toned down in damage (especially Boxers).
I also love the way you class a player as a noob when they beat you. Overall maybe you are a better player, but if you got beat, just admit you got outplayed. Seriously.
Some ken mashing and pulling out a hurricane cross up to fierce->fierce dragon leaving me dizzy and half my bar gone is pretty wtf to me. That’s about 3 seconds and I’m already out the round. All from someone who has no clue what they’re doing.
reads thread title
Its dat TAP, son.
FINAL!!!
Cross forward, st. fierce XX fierce dp is mashing?
I really don’t understand this type of mentality. If he has no idea what he’s doing, then it should be EFFORTLESS to beat it. If you lose, then either YOU have no clue what you’re doing, or you’re totally misreading your opponent. There is no other possibility.
Yeah I have never had anyone mash something like that out. Mashing isn’t effective in ST… I don’t think you’d lose a 2/3 or 3/5 to someone mashing.
Uh not that. I’m talking mashing all over the place. You know the type: constant hurricane, constant sweep attempts, etc. all done at wrong angles and then out of nowhere a grounded hurricane someone crosses up into that. Person did not do on purpose.
and you can’t beat that?
Of course, if I’m focused. I’m just saying you can randomly lose to that kind of stuff a lot in this game because of high damage. I’m not saying your precious game is a piece of shit.
I’m not getting defensive about the game, i’m trying to point out that you’re blaming the wrong thing. You’re in the minority here - myself and many others DON’T lose to random mashing like you describe. There are TOD combos, sure, but its rare to be put in a situation where you can get hit by it.
You can randomly lose to anything in anything if you’re not focused so I don’t see your point. If I’m playing chess and I stop paying attention and lose my queen - guess what, I’m screwed - there’s no way I can win. Who’s fault is that?
My point is that you’re much more likely to risk a loss in this game because damage is so high. A simple throw that’s not softened can take a quarter of your bar. It doesn’t take much at all to go from a position of dominance to a loss. You can see it all the time, even in match videos from the pros. Sure, it happens in all other games, but it’s more prominant in this one. I’m a casual sf2 player, so that’s probably part of the problem.
This is exactly what I was trying to point out. It seems like tide of the battle could turn on 1 simple mistake. I never had this kinda of problem before with the alpha series. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game. It just seems more noob friendly with the high damage output.
Which is why ST is exciting. In alpha, when you’ve got that big of a lead, even an epic comeback is usually a yawn fest.
I would prefer less dmg/more life. At least the default number of rounds to win is 3 on XBL. I like the intensity high damage brings with it, but regardless of what anyone says: as the number of rounds to win and damage required to KO each round increases, the probability of the crappier player winning decreases. And thats not debatable, it’s simple math.
I think it’s an attitude thing. If you lose to someone, you should NEVER think “he didn’t know what he’s doing” or “i lost to a masher”. You lost to someone - he presented you with something that you could not beat. For this he earned the win. You might be a better player, but it’s totally irrelevant. He earned his win.
damage is higher than in other games but the strength of advantageous situations is much greater than in other games too so it balances out. the chance of a worse player winning is only much greater if you arent all that good yourself
