To those who modify their JLF's and custom stick

Not really? To what? I’m confused.

Yea, I got the TE when SF4 first came out but at the time didn’t really get into the game. Then I had a friend buy me a brand new TE - S for the holidays because he thought it may be nice to have two sticks in case I wanted to have people over.

Since the game first came out I’ve always really enjoyed it, but just never took the time to really learn it. Over the past month or two I’ve been really reading a bunch and getting into the game. I’ve been in training mode practicing moves / combos while watching tv or something just to develop muscle memory. It just drives me crazy when I’m sitting there carefully inputting the command for hadoken but a dragon punch comes out.

EDIT: This is really frustrating. The problem I was having with with hadokens coming out as DP’s isn’t happening anymore. I honestly have no clue wtf is going on.

EDIT 2: I’m in training focusing on making sure that I’m using the least number of inputs possible to achieve moves. Is that what’s necessary? Do pros only ever see forward forward any time they FADC? Just trying to figure out what I should or shouldn’t be doing. (Not that I ever want to be a pro - it just gives me a guideline for what’s appropriate or not).

Not really as in the JLF is not a super sensitive stick.

SF4 has stupidly relaxed input system. You can do a DP by hitting down forward twice, which is really dumb. edit If you’re doing FADC and hitting df twice, then releasing FA, it could be registering the neg edge of MP and giving you a DP. Hard to tell, the game’s input system is really just that shitty* You can do Fei Long’s flame kick by jiggling the stick from back to forward when the motion is b, d, db. SF4 is a shitty game to practice execution on unless you’re only doing button presses for 1 frame links. Easy to get accidental DP in it. Try practicing fireball and DP on something like ST or 3S. They have a much less lenient input system for directions.

This is probably execution errors on your part. Especially considering it is not easily reproduced under the same circumstances. Chances are you were tired or weren’t being as accurate as you thought you were.
