This feels incredibly coincidental since a few days ago I basically told someone “I can’t attest to if the game will be fun without learning combos and such; it may or may not be. That’ll be up to you. But if you’re going to play it with others, you’ll probably get a lot more out of it if you have a little time to put into it.” And now that person calls me a douche and that my views on games “irk” them just for offering my opinion when it was ASKED for… Oh, well.
In related news, I bought the MVC3 guide today. Even if I don’t really really get into it or play it much once TTT2 comes out, I had to get it to see what all the raving was about. It’s good stuff, at least for beginning strats with every character. Numerous thumbs up (I only have 2, but I’d give at least 14 if I had them).

True, you’ll probably have more fun if you learn and have a chance to beat people (which can be done by playing casually or competively). Which I agree with. The person on that post, however, has a different sort of attitude. X person is abusing what works because… well, it works, so clearly that means people are taking things too seriously. And to them, playing to win =/= not having fun. Which is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. It annoys me when people take competitive play and assume it’s not fun. Some people have fun being competitive, others don’t. Aaaaand I totally tangented.

So anyone know how the ranking system works? I was 9th lord now I’m 9th ranger after I won a fight, I figured Ranger was less than Lord… .but since it changed after I won a match, I have no clue O_o
is it something to do with your graph?

In other news, I just learned a valuable lesson in this game. Do NOT be afraid to use X-Factor early on, especially if you catch an assist and ensure the death of 1 and a half - 2 characters.

…wouldn’t using x-factor early as a rushdown strategy be sort of counterproductive? cause you’d be burning your one xf offensively when it’s really a last-measure defensive deterrence – fire it and your opponent is flow fucked and the momentum shifts in your favor. i guess it’s past time for xf to be used offensively anyways. oh well, duly noted. legitimate strategy!!
I don’t mean for rushdown, I meant basically for catching assists, I caught a dude’s Dante assist when he had out Zero and once I had a full combo on both Zero AND Dante, I ended with Rekkouha, then XFC’d and did it again and killed both. Worth it IMO
